When I started the CO alliance, the very first year, I ended up doing a million dollars more in profit. I had a letter from the IRS that I owed $420,000 more than I thought I owed. And I was like, holy, what happened there? I went for a walk with Dave Berg, Joe Polish, Gordy Buffeton, and we were hiking Camelback, and I opened up and said, guys, I'm like, I just literally got hit. And I just bought my home in Arcadia. I had this massive home on Lafayette, and. And I was leveraged. And I'm like, how do I pay a $420,000 tax bill that I don't have? And on the course of the hike, we recognized I either had to grow revenue, I had to cut overhead, or I had to increase my gross margins. So on the 40 minute hike down Camelback, I came up with a list of 10 things I would do to grow revenue, increase gross margin and cut overhead. And over the course of about six weeks, I'd turned the whole thing around and I'd made enough money and I was good. I was out of debt, and I was. Was back and fine again.
