Stop learning random things just in case you might need them. Instead, learn what you need right now: if you're hiring soon, read about interviewing. Create your own development plan by assessing your strengths and weaknesses, then set goals for the year, quarter, month, and week.

If you're reading a book right now, that's a random book that someone like me mentioned on a stage, that's called Just in case Learning. You're reading the book just in case maybe you need it one day. But if you're hiring somebody in the next two or three weeks, read a book on interviewing. Go home tonight and devour the book. Who by Jeff Smart. Or go through an interviewing module on a course. Take the learning and the time that you've got and learn about stuff that you're working on tomorrow or next week or next month versus just reading another random book about another random thing. And then consider what is your own personal development plan? What's your own pdp? Don't wait for your CEO or your boss to come in and say, here's what you suck at and here's what you're good at and here's what you should be focusing on. Self examine yourself. Sit down with yourself and say, what am I doing really well that I can get better at, that I could get training on, that I could read books on, that I could focus on? What do I suck at? What can I get better on? What could I get coaching on? What could I work on my mindset on? Build your own PDP for yourself for a year and for a quarter and for a month and for a week.
