Cameron Herold says CEOs and entrepreneurs want two to three bullet points, not long emails. If you can't compress your pitch to half a page, you're not thinking clearly enough. Send separate emails for separate thoughts.

At our recent online CEO alliance meeting, I was telling all of the CEO alliance members from around the world that they have to communicate with entrepreneurs differently than they like to do work. Most COOs are very high fact finders. They like to do all the research, pull all the data together, take a look at the feelings, talk to people, really, really understand something before they pitch it or explain it to somebody else. CEOs and entrepreneurs are quick starts. They like the executive summary of everything. In fact, most entrepreneurs like the executive summary of the executive summary. They really want the short form of it. They want you to speak to them in two to three bullet points max. So if you're writing a long email to a CEO, they're not going to read it, they're probably going to file it. They maybe are going to come to you with questions later. Speak to them in very, very short points. And if you can't write a long pitch in a half page or less, you're thinking, not thinking clearly enough. So I actually suggest that you write it to them in three bullet points and then send them a separate email for a separate thought.
