Short talk by Cameron Herold describing a practical quarterly/monthly/weekly planning tactic: every employee commits to their top three priorities for the quarter, month, and week, and these roll up to managers (and ultimately the CEO) for review and alignment. The aim is to concentrate effort on the most critical projects and surface misaligned priorities for correction.

If you want to have a lot of really great focus happening inside of your business, try this tactic every single quarter. Have everyone in your company, all the employees, commit to the top three things are going to get done this quarter, the top three things are going to get done this month, and the top three things they're going to do this week, and then have that roll up to their manager. So anybody that reports to the CEO, the CEO is going to review those people's top three for the quarter, top three for the month, top three for the week, and you're going to make sure that the people are working on the most critical few projects they're working on, the ones that are going to drive the organization forward. You're going to get a glimpse into the mindset of the people and what they're working on. I like to actually drop two layers down and look to see what everybody in the organization is working on two layers below me. But if you do this every quarter, you get some incredible insights as to the projects that people are thinking they should be spending time on and where you maybe need to realign some of those priorities. Try to.
