Why Are You the Only One Growing?

Cameron Herold explains why founders often feel like the only ones growing: their teams lack both skills and confidence. He uses a two-ladder metaphor to show how leaders must develop both, then introduces his course Invest in Your Leaders, which teaches core management skills like coaching, delegation, and one-on-ones to help companies scale.

So in Europe about his company right now. And he said something that kind of struck me that made me think of just doing a quick video. He was saying that his company is now about 100 employees and it's now the biggest thing that he's ever built. And then he laughed and he said, actually every day it's the biggest thing I've ever built. So I'm just curious, is your company now the biggest thing that you've ever done? Are you waking up every day feeling like maybe you used to get more done with less people? I think that happens to all of us that every day the company that we're building just gets bigger and bigger. You know, do you wish that your managers, your employees were stronger at their jobs than they are? And do you kind of feel like maybe your employees are scrambling at what they're doing? So I've always thought about my employees and my leaders almost like they're climbing up two ladders. You know, that one ladder is skills and they have to have their foot and one hand going up the skills ladder. And then the second ladder is the confidence ladder. And my job is to grow their skills and grow their confidence and grow their skills and grow their confidence. And if I grow their skills at a certain area, their confidence gets higher and as their confidence gets higher, they're willing to get more skills. So, you know, I know that growing people seems to, you know, all of us feel like it takes a little bit more time and maybe it costs too much and maybe we don't even know how to, to grow people. So what I did is I put together a course called invest in your leaders. And it's all of the skills that every manager and every leader needs to have to grow in their job day to day. It's skills such as interviewing. Right. Imagine like every single one of our managers has to actually do job interviews. Most of them have never been trained at interviewing. It covers things like coaching and delegation, situational leadership, time management, email management, effective meetings, one on one meetings, all of the real core skills that every meter needs to excel in their job. So the idea with the invest in your leaders course was to take all that core content that I've used to grow companies around the world over the last 14 years and really give it to everybody to help you grow your team as well. The course itself is about 40 videos, 41 videos total. Takes about 4 hours worth of their time. But it's spread out over 12 modules. So they can do, you know, 15 or 20 minutes one week, 15 or 20 minutes. Another week. I've got a lot of clients now that are actually having their managers do one or two modules and they'll learn from those two modules and then they'll talk about it on a Monday at lunch, and then the next week they'll do two more modules. They'll talk about it the next week. So take a look at it. It's called Invest in your Leaders. It's at investinyourleaders.com where there's a link off both my Cameron Herald.com website or the cooalliance.com website. It's a great way for you to actually grow your people. And the more you grow your people, the more their confidence will grow, the more their skills will grow, and the more your company will go. It's all about growing your people. The more you grow your people, the more they'll grow your brand.
