Cameron Herold started the Second In Command podcast to share the COO perspective that usually goes untold. He uses a story about parents seeing the same event differently to explain why two people can both be right but tell different sides of the story.

So the reason I started my own podcast was I really wanted to share the rest of the story. I remember asking my dad recently. My mom had passed away about 20 years ago, and I said to my dad something about, how did you raise the kids? And he kind of stumbled through the answer. And he goes, God, I wish your mom was alive. She would remember. I'm like, you were married the whole time. Like, how would you not know? And he goes, well, my side of the story is just very different. And I realized that they both had raised us, but they both had different sides of the story. Very similar to the CEO and the COO. In building a company, we often hear the CEO's story, but we rarely hear the rest of the story. And that was the purpose for the COO's second in command podcast is really to understand the rest of the story and also give really good visibility to a lot of our COO alliance members and also COOs who are just out there in the community that are doing great work. That was the purpose for the Second In Command podcast.
