I really wish I understood this 30 years ago when I first started hiring people, but I'll share it with you now. Resumes only tell you what people want you to know, and interviews only tell you how good they are at interviewing. I actually learned that from somebody named Qasim Alaim, who is in the Genius Network with me. The only way you can actually truly hire great people is if you and your management team are really, really good at actually doing proper interviews and really getting through all the bullshit that is put in front of you. It's actually one of the core 12 modules in my Invest in Your Leaders training. Go to investinyourleaders.com, take a look at it. It's only about $350 per person in your company to have them go through that content as well as 11 other modules for that same price. It's lifetime access. But the reality is, if you're not good at interviewing and you're not really good at probing, you're actually hiring B players at best.
