A Recap Of CapCon2019 & A Preview Of Where We Are Going Next

Ryan Daniel Moran recaps CapCon 2019, shares attendee stories and the event's impact (including international attendees and multiple entrepreneurs reporting 7-figure revenue), and previews expansion plans for the Capitalism community: a monthly subscription/newsletter with a physical product box to distribute community members' products (example: placing 10,000 candles into the box), a return of the "Wine with Wyan" live Q&A series, Back Room mastermind gatherings (four meetings a year) and office hours, a mentoring program for physical-product owners, and selective advisory/investment partnerships (working with roughly 12–25 businesses). He frames these as ways to incubate and rapidly scale businesses and deepen community engagement.

What's up, everybody? I am now back curled up in a blanket post Capcon 4, Capcon 2019. And it was absolutely epic. Here, check this out. I. I'm relaxing here on the couch with this, this essential oils candle. That's gonna be important in a second. And it's right next to. Look at this, look at that thing right there. That's my Twitter photo that somebody literally had burned into a piece of Lebanese wood. That's gonna be important here in a second. And this stack of papers, this stack of papers here, that's gonna be important. And this is a sample of some of the stuff that I collected in my travels here in Dallas at the Capitalism conference. So here. So check this out. A Capitalism conference is like six months of work for three days. And every year we're like, is this really worth it? And then we have it, and.
It'S just absolutely mind blowing. And there was one night, the second night, we were in the VIP room, and this guy named Waseem comes up to me and Waseem says, ryan, I came all the way from Lebanon to give you this. And he hands me, he hands me this, this right here. And a girl I had never met who had only discovered me for a month was like, I had such a good time. I heard you like essential oil candles. So I went to the store and I bought you this. And then this stack of thank you cards is stuff that people handed me from thanking me for podcasts. Like, here, I want to show you one of them. Forgive me while I dig one of these up, but there's one person in particular. His name is Joey, wrote me a thank you card, a thank you note. Look at this. He actually, he had one of them handwritten and one of them typed. This is the typed one. Talking about how he found our podcast content, got seven figures, and then built a five million dollar a year business a few years later just from the stuff that we put out for free. And I was like, why is this the first time that we're meeting in person? And he said, because I flew in from China.
So I just feel immensely proud for what we're up to. But I was saying that every year we wonder if it's worth it, if it's actually, is it worth us doing six months of hard work for three days? But then people fly in from all over the world just to say thank you and to be part of this community. There was a point on day number three where I walked into the crowd and I said, hey, how many of you are at seven figures? Now, if you go to most events.
There'Ll be like, you know, five or six people that are like, I'm doing seven figures. This more than half the room raises their hand.
That doesn't happen. That does not happen. Like, what we do here is special. Like, the community that you're a part of is just special. And as a result, people who walk in who aren't yet at that level get there real quick. Like, there's this one guy in our community, his name's Jason. He's one of the people I root for really hard. Hey, Jason. And I root for him because I just, I see it, right? Like, I can see what's going to happen here. And he doesn't see it yet, but I can see it. And so on Sunday, the day before the event, he says, you know, I hope the content's not too above my head. And I said, you're selling yourself short, man. You come to me on Wednesday and tell me if you feel the same. And so I saw him on Wednesday and he said, I can see it, man.
Everything is so clear to me now. I know exactly what I have to do in the next few months to double, triple, quadruple my business. Hit seven figures, get to mid seven figures. And I was like, ah, he gets it. And that doesn't come from something you learn. It comes from.
Zooming out of your business and seeing the whole pict and seeing what other people who are just like you have done. I interviewed.
Bedros Keelian to keynote the event and he talked about the struggles of being an entrepreneur, but also just the struggles that he has in his personal life. And as a result, it was very humanizing to hear how somebody who's built hundred million dollar businesses is just a normal dude. And one of the benefits of just being around this world, of being in this world that we've built, is that you normalize what you think is impossible. Because all these greats, you hang out with them for a couple days and you go, oh, you're just like me, I guess. This isn't crazy.
Man. It was just an absolutely rewarding, epic, awesome experience. I really connected with AJ Vaynerchuk, who just very clearly follows where his energy and passion leads him.
That's all. And as a result, amazing things happen. I'm very proud of all of you and what we are doing here. So moving forward, what we're doing and what we're really excited about is.
Beyond events, we're actually adding a monthly box component to our continuity program. And here's why that's exciting. We're doing a monthly newsletter of stuff that's working right now. Investments, new opportunities, case studies of students who are doing exciting things right now. But here's where this gets really exciting. Let's say somebody for our community launches this candle here, right? And it's something. Let's do a better. Let's say someone in our community decides to do essential oil candles, right? Well, guess what we're gonna do. We'll take 10,000 essential oil candles and we'll send them in our monthly subscription box. And our monthly subscription box.
I mean, they're not buying the subscription box. They're buying the content, the case studies in the newsletters. But we just include an essential oil candle in the box that month. Now, 10,000 entrepreneurs who have audiences, who have influence, who have investors, who have. Who are investors of retail connections, who know influencers.
Are now reading about this company. So what do you think happens?
Essential oil company blows up. I discovered about a year ago, I was like, I think my favorite thing is lighting other people's fires. I'm gonna stoke the fire that is this community and this audience and this direction and this message of capitalism and personal freedom and success and the journey.
And as a result, we're going to incubate companies and we're going to have this online shark tank where we can build brands, incubate them, syndicate them to the audience, put them in front of investors, raise the capital, and you have your next multimillion dollar business like that. I just discovered how we're gonna do it. So our continuity program, the 1%, is gonna have that monthly element. It's gonna be our distribution engine for the businesses in our community. And we're gonna put businesses on the map in days rather than years. That's number one. Number two, we're bringing back Wine with wine and we're gonna have a regular show where I hang out, take questions, share what's on our mind over wine. And we're gonna start doing it in different cities. And if you can assemble an event of 100 people or more, book the tickets on eventbrite or put together a Facebook event when I'm in town, you start like a Facebook group that's like Wine with Wine Toronto. And you put together the group, you put together an eventbrite or something like that, probably Facebook group or LinkedIn group or something like that would be best. Then I'll, when I'm in your city, do a live Wine with Wine where you are. And you know what we're gonna call it? Wine with Wyan on the woad. Ha ha.
Clever.
What else, you know what else, you know what else is exciting is gosh, we are doing some really cool things in the back room because we're just having regular meetings at my lake house and we bring in food and talk business and help each other out and we get together, we have, we have four meetings a year and I think we're gonna start doing office hours with me just to keep this community stoked, just to keep this fire burning. We have some amazing people joining backroom and we're launching a mentoring group soon which will be specifically for physical product owners who aren't yet at like that mid seven figure point. We're gonna help people get there really, really fast.
And besides that, I'm excited about the new businesses we're launching in the Capitalism initiative and the physical products brands that I'm investing in and advising. There's just so much great stuff happening in this world and I'm so proud to be doing.
What we're doing together with you. So thanks for being a part of this. Thanks for making the Capitalism conference incredible. Every year I wonder how we're gonna top it. And we always do. So it's been an amazing couple of days and for the first time it feels like it's not the end of the journey. It's not the end of something we've been building all year for. It feels like the beginning of where we're going.
So I hope to be part of your year. I Hope we do 2019 together. I hope you're gonna be here for the ride. I hope you are going to be active and engaged. I hope to see you at my home. I hope to be working with you.
I don't talk about what we offer much because I just want to be in the position of like giving all the time. I just, all I wanna do is give and connect and hang out.
But I work with like a handful of partners. I don't advertise it, you can't buy it. I have to know you. That's how I make my cash flow. But really it's a long term equity play because what I do is I advise these companies and I take a piece of the growth.
And I only wanna work with like.
12 to 25 businesses, maybe ever.
And my play is like long term. We're gonna go have an exit and we're gonna make a bunch of money. So I only get involved with businesses I'm really excited with and I have a mastermind called the Back Room and That's your seat at the table. That's you being in the room. And if we like each other and continue to like working together, then maybe we work together in that deeper capacity later. But backroom is the seat at the table in the group where you're working with me in an informal setting and the rest of the group in an informal setting on growing your business. Because one connection or one little insight pays for that 10 times over. And you pay as you profit. So it's funny, what we do is we do that the price decreases over time. The longer you're in it, the less you pay.
And people stay in for two to three years and their businesses, I don't know that anybody hasn't doubled being in the back room. And we're gonna start doing like one off workshops at my house. That'll be probably. Probably around $10,000 or I think we're gonna do 5,000 down and 5,000 when you make.
$50,000. 10 times your investment back.
Now I'm going into Idealand with all of you, so I'll wrap this up. I'm just so proud of what we're doing and where we're going and the people we're working with. I'm proud of to be a part of your journey. Thanks for being part of mine. Talk to you guys soon.
