Capitalism Community Coffee: 2x Your Business in 3 Months

Ryan Daniel Moran walks entrepreneurs through three growth levers: more customers, higher frequency, and price increases. He emphasizes building an email list where the first sale covers acquisition cost and follow-ups drive profit, then coaches real founders like Meg scaling balloon garland kits to $40K/month and Greg choosing between brand and product strategy.

We're on a race right now to double our business before the end of the year. And we can do that. We can absolutely do that. Now, to start, I just want to ask you the very benign question, how much money do you make right now?
Now, jot this down somewhere because we're going to compare it to a couple of things.
So write this down right now. How much do you make right now? And if that's $0, put $0. If that's $100,000 a month, put $100,000 a month. There's no judgment. Just where are we at right now? Let's take inventory of where we're at right now on a monthly basis. On a month to month basis.
So what's your business selling? What are you taking home? However you want to ev.
Okay, and now question number two. How much do you want to make?
How much do you want to be making?
Now what I would like to hear from you is what's the difference.
Between.
Question number one and question number two?
What's the difference? The numerical difference?
$10,000 a month. Okay. What else? $60,000 difference. Okay, cool.
Good. 60,000. Another 60,000. Okay, good.
So now I would like to hear from. Now I'd like to hear from you. And you can jot this down if you want to.
Krista. Good. I'm glad that you've got a $100,000 gap right now. Awesome. We can close that. So what do you perceive right now is preventing you from having that gap or from closing that gap? What do you perceive is the challenge.
Or the way that I like to see this is if there was a magic wand that showed up that allowed you to close this gap next week.
What does the magic wand do?
How does the magic wand help you close this gap? And if you're willing to see it.
Tiffany says capital. Bullshit.
Sorry, Tiffany. We beat this to death this week in the capitalism incubator. I'm gonna beat it to death some more, but I'm just gonna. I'm just gonna slay this demon right now. Tiffany, no entrepreneur lacks capital. Capital's everywhere. We're swimming in capital. What entrepreneurs lack is the vision that is exciting to capital. That's what entrepreneurs lack.
Matt says there's an audience. Valentine says a perfect launch. There's no such thing. Read my book. No such thing as a perfect launch.
Team building a plan.
So some of you aren't sure.
So sit with this, play with this.
Now, another way to ask this question is what would absolutely close that gap?
Like if you didn't need to know how. And if you didn't need to do it, what would just make that happen? Like Joe Rogan talks about your product, would that do it?
Some affiliate that you've never met picks it up some, some major blog, MSNBC does a feature on it.
You start showing up on cnn. Tim Ferriss talks about you, the President tweets about you.
You can play with this like, what are, what other things would close this gap real fast?
So Don says more members. What would get you more members? Or what would the magic wand do that would close that gap?
Now I'm going to ask you one more question to play with on this.
Now look, look at the how much you want to make line and just look at that number, how much you want to make. And then we're going to do a mathematical formula on this, how much money we want to make. The mathematical formula is how much money do you want to make times 10.
And write that number down.
Give me a, give me a done in the comments when you've done this.
Or you can tell me the number. That would be even better.
Give me the number or put done in the comments when you've done this.
Lots of million a month. Great.
Okay, now follow up question to this.
What came up for you when you wrote that number?
Did you judge the number?
Did you have doubts about the number? Did you have excitement about the number?
Don says that was scary.
What else, what else came up?
Doubts and excitement. Andrew says, good.
Now.
It'S so interesting. I love this game. I love this process because.
It'S just a number.
Like the assignment was take the number.
And times it by 10.
And what's interesting is all of these judgments tend to come up about 80% of people like even so this is, this is a great comment from Ken. Ken says it just seems too large. What he means just too large. It seems too big, it seems too high. Seems like too much. Because otherwise, like, if you believed it was normal, it would have been the first number. It would have been the how much money you want to make line. But when we Times that by 10.
There is this, there's, for a lot of people, there's this hesitation. But the assignment is. It's just a number. It was just an assignment. But what this exposes is the story that you have about growth.
It highlights the story in your head about the amount of money that you want to make. It highlights the story you've got in your brain about how you're going to get there or how hard it's going to be or what's reasonable or expected.
But when you realize that it's just a story, then you can make these numbers whatever you'd like them to be.
Give me a thumbs up.
If you got it.
Gal, you look confused in the green room.
Thank you, andrew.
So, Greg, this is an interesting comment you made about this highlights the story about how much we think we are worth. Another way for us to think about this is it highlights the fact that we connect money with worth.
Like what if you were completely detached from the number and it was just a number and your, and your worth or your ability was just constant, infinite, right? Like so depend. Like regardless of what the number does, if you were just here and you were able to release the connection between who you are and what you're worth as if they weren't related at all, now it's just a number. Now it's just money. Now it's just neutral.
So. So Lil has a great question to this. How did you open yourself up to the bigger number? So here is your first assignment for this week.
That number, some of you put the most common answer was a million dollars a month.
In that number times 10. Your job this week is to answer the question.
Is there anyone that you can find evidence of.
That makes or has made a million dollars a month or whatever that number is?
Is there anyone you know.
That makes or has made that number consistently?
Someone you know, someone you can think of, someone you see in the media?
So is there anyone that makes amount of money? How many of you are having people come to mind right now?
Maria? You don't need to know them personally. Just can you find examples of it?
Valentin's having a few people come to mind. Greg's having a few people. Lil's having a lot of people come to mind. Amanda's having people come to mind. And I want, and if you're writing this down, open up a fresh page in your journal. Headline evidence.
Evidence of a million dollars a month or evidence of whatever number it is for you, whatever the number times 10.
Now you don't have to be like these people. You don't have to know these people. You don't have to have a connection to these people. Just can you think of people who make the amount of money that you want to make times 10?
The answer is always yes because no one here is Jeff Bezos.
The answer is obviously yes because.
No one here is Warren Buffett.
There's two examples. And so you can just beat that to death. Now.
The, the evidence part of this process is not Just people.
It's also things like processes, it's also opportunities. It's also companies. Are there companies like yours who have that kind of revenue?
Can you think of companies or businesses in or out of your industry.
That have that type of revenue? The money you want to make times 10.
Yeah. Now there's more. More, more, more, more.
That's right. Megan says, and much more than that. That's right.
So here's the more you play with this. Like we could, we could spend this whole call talking about this and it would be really fun.
But we just, we've done this for about four and a half minutes now of just talking about a little bit of evidence for it.
As you talk about people who make a million dollars and you could keep going, you go $10,000,000 a month. Are there people who make $60,000,000 a year? Yeah. Are there businesses who make $60 million a year? Of course. Why did I pick $60,000,000? That would be $5,000,000 a month. $120,000,000. That's $10,000,000, month.
So if the more evidence you can find for that amount of money you want to make times 10. And the more you play with this, the more normal it becomes. So the next question then is, when you sit in that for a little bit, how does it feel when you go back to.
That first number of how much money you want to make?
So if you look at how much money you want to make and what you put down there.
How does that feel now?
Small, Small potatoes. Good.
How else does it.
And specifically like how does it feel.
When you look at that number? Or what is, what is the, what's the feeling of small?
Meg says easy. Some people might use the word disappointing.
It's almost like a disappointment in yourself. It's like, shit, I've been doing this for five minutes and I already realize how small I've been thinking.
Now once again, I'm just, I'm looking at your comments. Can I see yours?
Says, clearly I'm not that ambitious.
So I want. Krista makes me laugh. So here's what I want to point out here.
Be just as mindful not to judge that number.
As you were when you judged the first number that. I'm sorry, the number times 10.
So check this out. This is just an interesting observation I'm making based on your comments.
When you times the number by, by 10, you had self judgments come up. I can't do this.
It's too hard.
And when you now are comparing, you're like you lived in that number and you Normalize that number for five minutes.
And you look at your first number of what you wanted to make. Some of you are saying the exact same thing in reverse.
I'm not thinking big enough. I'm insecure about it. And if you pay attention to this, it's the same story.
It's the same story.
Of.
Times about 10. Oh, that feels hard. That feels hard for me. I'm not sure how I would do that.
I can't think that big. Then you compare it back to your original number. Oh, that's small. I don't think big enough. I don't work hard enough. It's still self defeat.
Just want you to play with that for a second. That perhaps the story you've got about what's normal or hard or big is just a bullshit story in your head. Maybe. Just maybe.
Okay, so now we've been playing with this. Now that we've been playing this for a few minutes, let me go into a couple of strategic things. We pull out. Okay, what are we going to do about this? Now there are three ways to increase revenue in a business.
You can get more customers, sell more stuff. That's a volume play. Sell, get more front end customers.
Number two is to sell more stuff to your existing people, sell new stuff to your existing people, or put differently, increase the frequency. You get people to reorder faster. You can buy, you can sell them more products, additional things, launch new offers. Or number three, you can raise your price. That's all. Those are really the three primary ways that you.
That you grow your business.
Now what I'm going to invite you to consider.
Is that you can do all three of these with one move.
You can do all three of these.
With one thing, and that is releasing something premium in the marketplace.
If you release something premium.
Meaning very, very high margin.
Higher priced than most people are willing to go.
You can do all three. Now you don't need to know what that is yet.
You don't need to know what that is at all. But I want to point out that these three things are not independent of one another.
They are correlated with one another.
So you can sometimes get new customers, increase your volume by raising your price.
The story that I love to tell, and I tell this in my book, is that when I was running Sheer Strength, we had one of our products who was just getting crushed. We were number two in the market and the number one company was outselling us two to one. We just couldn't beat them. And the crazy thing was that they were twice our price. They were Twice our price and they were outselling us on volume two to one. So that product was four times the volume when it comes to dollars as ours, twice the price, twice the volume. Now what was happening there was they had cornered a very specific segment of the market where they were able to charge a premium because they were targeting that person specifically. And so they were getting all of those customers. They were targeting kind of a high end clinical approach to a specific problem. We were targeting muscly dudes and our approach of muscly dudes was actually a turn off to the clinical people.
But the clinical approach was actually also appealing to muscly dudes. So we just, we just lost. They beat us. They had that segment of the market cornered, but as they cornered that segment of the market and served them really well, they got more repeat customers, they got more momentum, they got more reviews and they just won. So all that to say they had more customers and they had a higher price. So you can combine these in a way that feeds the overall business rather than distracts you from it.
So reason I bring this up is I want you to look at your current business right now and if you're going to.
Double your business before the end of this year.
Which one of these stands out to you and if none of them stand out as obvious for you right now, can you combine them into one?
Can the solution be all right, what I'm going to do is I'm going to launch a premium offering to my existing buyers, to the existing marketplace.
And.
In doing so, do all three of these now have a new very high margin profit center in my business that ends up being the thing that drives this.
And by the way, the answer is always yes.
There's always you can as long as you want to.
Alright, now let's move on because the only way that you can do any of these three is by having people pay attention to you. It's the term that I call audience.
Now there is a training from the 1% where I go very deep into building audiences. We spent a whole month talking about it. Going to recap it in three bullet points.
I would highly recommend, I think it was, I think it was probably our best training of the year so far. So if you haven't seen it, go watch it. But here's the summary in three bullet points.
If you could only do one thing, create a lead magnet and drive all of your ads and exposure to, to that lead magnet. The sale comes in the follow up emails. So all this to say if you don't know where to build an audience Build an email list. If you're not building an email list, you're kind of wasting your time. Email is the highest converting audience mechanism by far. Without question. Everything else exists to build the email list.
All of your content exists to engage the existing audience.
And the purpose of the first purchase is to pay for the acquisition costs. That's audience building in three points.
Put all your attention on email.
Content exists to engage the existing audience.
And the first purchase is there to pay for the acquisition cost.
All of the profit comes in the follow up.
Now, when you have a buyer or you have an audience.
Now, launching a high end offer becomes possible.
Now increasing the frequency of your purchases becomes more possible. Now you have your own control of raising your prices, building the audience, or running new offers or increasing the frequency.
Now let's talk about the how piece of this.
How do you kick this off? Because there are some conversations that I saw in the group this week that were a little bit like.
How do I start building that audience? How do I start building that list?
And I would encourage you not to overthink this.
So I would encourage you to just simply answer a few simple questions. If you're looking to build the audience, what is the simplest thing that you can give them that would entice them to join your community? By community I mean give you their email address.
So if you sell physical products, a lot of times that is a coupon, a discount, a bonus. If you do a good job in the ad showing the product and then you offer a discount in the email address in the lead magnet, it's kind of an obvious win.
Most people will say like get my 30 day course.
And at the end you can buy my pan.
There's just no need.
So the other way that you can kind of crack this nut is for you to look at what's different about yours or what is the perfect primer for the ideal person to buy your product and front end that as a lead acquisition, front end with that and then sell in the follow up. All the magic happens in the follow up. And if you look at the training we did about audience building, kind of the formula.
Is add or content to lead magnet to sales page, but that sales page just exists to pay for the acquisition costs.
Gal, you're kind of freaking me out with your mouth up to your microphone there.
Now I was going to go through.
A bunch of examples that I gave my incubator students here this week, but I actually think I'm going to pause here.
So I want to take you here instead to look at traffic sources for getting leads and for building the audience. This is not the right slide. Of course it's not. So I'll just tell you what they are.
So as you are front ending something to build that audience, there's essentially three ways to dump people into the top end of that. There's advertising.
There'S sponsorships and referrals, and there's organic content.
So ads we're going to talk all about. Next week we're going to talk about viral ads and video ads with Kevin Anson, one of our own, pretty much the best in the business at building video ads that convert and will break this topic down even more.
Organic content, you all know, and most people resist and it's fun, you don't have to do it.
I think the purpose of organic content is to engage the audience that already exists.
And then the third is referrals and sponsorships. This is when you go sponsor the influencer to talk about the lead, the lead capture, not the product, the lead capture.
Because it's very hard to get somebody to convert on first awareness, but it's very easy for them to join the ecosystem on first awareness.
So the way that we're going to focus on doubling our business.
Getting closer to that number that we want is putting our attention on lead acquisition.
And answering that question.
Which of those three or all three of those areas of business growth are we going to focus on new product, increasing frequency or price?
Now, one thing to consider.
Is in the same way we did that exercise of how much money do we want to make times 10?
One of the things that I like to play with sometimes is what's your highest price product.
Times that by 10.
What solution in the marketplace could you release.
That would be worth that?
So if your highest price product is $100, what could you release that would be $1,000 and worth it. And that's usually a done for you solution.
A training a community.
And once again, are other people doing that? Is there evidence for that? Could you have people pay up front for something?
But of course none of this matters.
None of this matters. If you don't. If you cannot foresee if you can envision yourself doing this, if you can't envision that, it is possible for you. Which is why we spend so much time on that deep work at the beginning of this.
Alright, so I'm gonna pause here and come over to y' all in the green room and chat with you guys. So gal, your video is off, so I'm gonna skip you for Now.
And we're gonna go ladies first here, Meg. Give me a thumbs up if you are ready to join me. All right, let's do this.
Good morning, Meg. How are you? Good.
How are you doing?
Good. Good to see you. Yeah. How's it going?
Good. So thank you for all that. You already answered my questions a little bit. But my current business, I started maybe three months ago and it just kind of took off.
So what does that mean, took off? Like, what happened? It just.
So I started on Etsy. I started this just thinking it would be like a little side hobby. And on day two, I started getting sales and they just started. They just kept coming and coming. So.
Last month, month two, we did 40,000 in sales.
Good for you.
Yeah.
Holy crap.
So I've just been trying to keep up. I hired like a college kid to come in and pack orders. I'm talking with Katarina from this group to help with like, VA services. So I'm trying to get some help. And now I finally feel like soon I will have time to think about how to grow it. And my question is really just like, where do I start? Because I don't have any social media yet. I don't have a Shopify yet, I don't have a website yet. There's just so much I want to do, but I don't want to try and do it all at once.
Yeah. So if you did nothing, would things continue to grow?
I think I'm at a semi plateau with Etsy. Like, when I put more products out, it keeps growing.
So I feel like it would grow a little bit just based on the demand for what I'm doing right now. But I think it's at a point where I definitely want to grow your sales.
Last month.
So last month was the 40k.
Last one was the 40k.
Yep. The month before that was the first month that was 12.
Okay. So that was. It's been less than three months. Good work. Thank you. So last month was 40K. And what have been your average daily sales over the last 12 days?
About 12 to 1300.
Okay. So you're on pace for a little bit of growth. You might do 50,000 this month, we'll say so. First of all, great fucking work. Great work. You're doing awesome.
Thank you.
The second thing is be careful not to fall into the error that a lot of entrepreneurs do, which is that if it's growing, then we have to and you're not efforting, like, if you're not hustling that you have to work harder to Justify more growth.
So if releasing more products would help it grow and you enjoy releasing more products, put your attention there.
Okay.
The, the other thing that is overlooked by a lot of entrepreneurs in your space is loving on your existing customers and over delivering for the people who are repeat buyers, people who have bought four times from you. Be really good to them.
Another thing for you to consider is having some way for you to engage with previous buyers, bringing them to an email list and just sharing with them about the story of the business.
And if Etsy doesn't allow you to get that customer data, then you can put inserts in packaging, you can send follow up messages to your best customers.
And you can either put them into an email, email list, a Facebook group, or both. Okay, so it is really about being active with the people who are already engaged in your business.
And doubling down on what's currently working during this ramp up period. Okay.
What was that phase for?
Oh no, that makes total sense. I just have a tendency to.
Feel like I want to do more. Like.
Yeah, well, you and everyone you know. Yeah, but what you're really saying when you say that is I have a tendency to work harder.
Yes.
And when you say work harder, that means like strive and stress. You're right, I'm not stressing about it enough.
But stressing about it doesn't make the needle move. What makes the needle move is having really happy customers who buy at an increased frequency at great margins and tell their friends.
That'S what makes the needle move. And so you're gonna do that by being really good to the customers that are already buying from you.
Engaging with them via an email list and consider releasing more products. Okay.
Let me give you one more thing, Megan. If you want to work harder.
I don't understand why people don't do this. And this is, this is just you and me hanging out for a second. Okay. If I invest in a company or buy a company or take over a company, the first thing that I do.
Is I say, alright, let's make a list of a hundred people. First of all, I'm like, do we have ten grand to burn? We do. Okay, great. So let's make a list of 100 people that have some reach that we'd like to connect with and let's spend an average of $100 a person creating an amazing care package for them.
Oh yes, I can do that.
And we're write a handwritten note to every single one of them. Spend a week doing it.
With no ask.
I don't know why people don't do this.
Yeah, I like that especially because my product. So I sell balloon garland kits for those asking, which is like pretty much I sell party supplies of balloons primarily. So it's very visual. And I just had somebody who message into me who has like a smaller following. 4000. But her Instagram is just beautiful. And she just asked like, hey, do you want to collaborate? If you send me a garland, like I'll post the pictures. You can have the pictures. And like that's just kind of a no brainer, I think for this product. So yeah, I think that could be.
Huge win to do care packages. Yeah.
Those are the only things that I would recommend you do. Okay. If you do. If you end up doing social media, the only thing you should be posting on social media is pictures of your product and pictures of the reviews and the emails that you get. Okay. That's it.
I can do that.
Don't go making content and courses.
Oh my God. Yeah, I'm.
How to pick the perfect balloon for your bar mitzvah.
Just, just make it about your product. Yeah. People are saying. And the emails you get.
Got it.
I got it. I appreciate it.
All right. Good to see you, Meg. Thanks for hanging out with us. Thanks.
Greg, you're up. You want to do this thing? All right. Hello, my friend.
Hey, Ryan, how are you?
How's your, how's your brain after Friday?
I'm just now almost recovered. It was, I was not okay. I was not expecting the capitalism incubator curriculum that just started up to be so impactful and transformative right out of the gate.
I'm shocked by what I still need to learn from this.
And it was just what I needed right when I needed it too.
I mean, we've been working together for pretty much a whole year. Yeah.
Yeah.
So tell me, tell me what was so different about it?
I think again, it's, it's what I needed to hear when I needed to hear it. So I, I actually, I mean, I think it's a cool program, but I didn't have a huge expectation that it was going to offer me a lot of value because I'm like, I know all the content and you know that.
I knew the existing members were going to say.
Oh, was, yeah, it was, it was okay. So let me back up. The reason I wanted to hop in today is I had a really like, pretty big short term problem last week, like on Thursday with the subscription box that my wife and I run. We, we, we've had kind of this minor little IP issue that we Thought was going to be like a no problem slam dunk. But last week we discovered that, that it was going to turn into a very expensive quagmire. And I was just really kind of down about that.
It.
I don't want to get into specifics, but basically like ip, law wise, we will win this if we continue to dump money into it. But what we've discovered is that the, the person that's kind of opposing us, like they're willing to, to. They. I think they believe that their entire business and livelihood is on the line. So they're going to fight tooth and nail to, to just make this as painful as possible for us. And at the end of the day it's like, what do we actually gain by winning? That's, that's kind of what, what I realized. Like if, if we dump like 30 grand into this and then end up with being able to use the same name we're using, like, does that actually add to the business at all? Or should we take that 30 grand and put it into like new product creation and marketing and then, holy crap, what could we do with that? Like, that's. Yeah, the business is at a stage where that's a lot of money in the business.
So I was just kind of struggling with this whole thing. Like Thursday, Friday, I asked for some feedback in the group and I appreciate the feedback I got. And then what I realized after Cap Inc. On Friday is that I, I've just been thinking too small the whole time. And my wife and I went out to dinner last night and we, we talked about.
We.
The intent was to kind of talk about like what we do. Like, do we just kind of rebrand and like dump the whole TM thing, not worry about it and just move on? And.
You know, we, we both had this idea of like, how we just like tweak the name a little bit, like to, to just kind of keep doing what we're doing. But she like, during dinner she looked at me and she's like, we could totally reimagine what this says. We could cast such a bigger vision. She's like, what if this company ended up being like this company? And what if, what if this thing was a, you know, a seven figure business? Which for this thing, like, we. I just never even really considered it because we were constrained by what it already was.
Yes.
And that's being stripped away from us.
I have goosebumps like crazy.
So it was so cool. Like, you know, I'm the one who sits through all this content, but my wife is like, we're thinking too small. Why don't we just blow this thing up? We get to reinvent and recreate what this is about and intentionally build it into something impactful and big and profitable. And so, you know, my original intent was to, like, hop on here and ask advice about some TM thing, but I instead, like, I think that through Cap, Inc. And just casting a bigger vision has kind of solved the problem for us. But I still wanted to, like, I guess, validate that.
We'Re going to do the right thing.
Great.
Yeah.
I mean, the only question that I was going to ask you in response to this issue was when you cast that vision, how important is the current name?
Not a bit.
Okay, great. Well, I mean, then that's your answer.
Yeah.
Because there's some people who would say the name is Paramount.
And if I cast a vision and look at how important is the name capitalism dot com. It's kind of important.
Yeah.
It's. It wouldn't be vital, but it would be.
It's.
It's fairly important. To me, at least. I want to be a beacon for that name.
Yeah.
So can I still do it? And I do. Without that name? Sure. Do I want to? No. So I would fight for that. Mm. I would spend the 30 grand.
Yep.
I spent way more than that on the domain name, so. But for you, if you don't have that same feeling, then, like, then. Then the next question is, is there anything to gain by changing the name?
I think so. I think what we. What we realized is that the current company's name is really the name of a product and not the name of a brand. And so if we cast this larger vision and create the name of a brand where this existing product is just one of many offerings that we offer, that. That we can do all the things you just mentioned, like, we will attract more customers because we'll have a slightly broader focus within our niche. We'll be able to offer more products to existing customers, and we can have a much larger range of offerings. So we can. We can have like, a fifteen hundred dollars offering. I already know what that will look like.
We.
I. I know what a $10,000 offering looks like now. So, I mean, we. We can put all that together. And so, like, the. The brand we have now, that's really just a product. We'll have to, like, we will have to tweak the name of that thing. But it's just the product. It's not the brand. And I just, like. I don't know. Like, I've been in your world for, like, deeply in this world for a year. And this is the advice that I've given other people. Like, you're thinking too small. And so it's just always shocking to me when I find that I'm doing it to myself. So, yeah, like, we were entirely comfortable with, with building this business into something that was basically like, you know, good, like cash flow, replacement income for somebody. And then we were going to kind of flip it, basically, but now I think, whoa, we could, like, this could be like a juggernaut that we have people knocking on the door to get access to. We know exactly how to do it.
So.
Yeah, that's great. That's where we are of confidence for you.
I think so. And it's so cool. It ties in perfectly with what you just went through this morning. So I think what I need to really do. So, by the way, our capping homework.
I've already found a VC company that invests in companies just like we're building. So I have five companies that took on money in the last two years. So I'm going to reach out to this company and say, hey, not that I'm trying to sell to you right now, but I'd like to talk to you and look what it is that, that you look for when you buy. And we, that can be part of the vision we cast is actually intentionally incorporate all of this stuff into what we build out now so that somebody would either, you know, throw in a six figure investment to grow or potentially acquire. So it's just like, it's, it's crazy, man. Like Thursday I was, I was, I was in like survival mode for this thing. And now it's like going to be the best thing that ever happened for it.
So that's. Boom. I love that. Yeah, I'm loving this conversation. And this is, this is very validating for me because, you know, it's. I know that the demand going into a new experience like we started this week is like, show me the secret or like, show me the hack. And the hack is changing your focus to exactly where it's going, going. And now you just saw all this Runway that you couldn't see before to the point where now you're like, oh, that company might buy us, that company might buy us. That company might buy us. But it requires me to operate my business in a way that is worthy of being acquired by someone like that. And that means I need to build a brand, not a product. Right. Beautiful. Well done. Cool.
Thank you.
All right, man, we'll see you later this week. All right, bye. Oh, I have a surprise coming for you in CAP Inc. Announcement coming tomorrow. Okay.
We have a surprise for you too.
Oh, sounds good.
Yeah.
Well, our mutual surprises coming tomorrow. All right, thanks, Greg. See ya.
All right, to some. You are on deck. Give me a thumbs up if you want to come on live. Let's do this.
Hello, Hello.
Hello. Tisam, how are you? Good. Hey, you're up. You're up 35 from me, aren't you? What is it? You're in Dallas, aren't you?
I am, yeah. I might just stop by, be like, what's up?
Okay, what's going on?
What can we do for you?
So how would you go about relaunching existing products that you never put the time and effort to actually do anything with, but you know that there is still potential. And I do have a vision of growing the existing line of products, but in order to do that, I will need to like, change packaging, colors and as a start. But how would you. What's, what's your go to, to relaunch an existing line?
So, so first of all, what do you think is best for the business right now?
In what way?
Like, what if I don't give you any advice? What do you think the advice is?
You always make me think.
I think, I mean, like I'm in my head too much and thinking that, like, you know, I need some magic bell for it. But if I have to give myself advice, I would.
Just go the slow way of just doing the influencer marketing and get the word out. The reason why that thought is kind of crippling for me is back to our talk on Friday. I'm so behind. When I launched the business, it wasn't as saturated as it is right now. And so in the last two years.
Like definitely we had like some company, like big companies, well funded, well backed, that did all these big campaigns and now like, they're literally everywhere now. Even though it's saturated, I still, I still see my product category as new. Like, a lot of people still don't know that this product exists and it solves a very specific, you know, pain points. So I know there's still potential and I'm not giving up on it because I literally, you know, I just, you know, left my corporate job and I'm, I want to do it full time now.
Great.
But like all the thoughts.
Yeah, let me coach you on a couple, on a couple thoughts here. Okay. First of all, when you say I'm in my head, being in your Head is simply calling on past experiences for help today. And that's what being in your head is. It's thinking about the past. It's running the past over and over, like all the data that your brain has captured up into this point and trying to project it forward. And you reflected that very beautifully by saying, two years ago, when I started this, it wasn't so saturated. Now it's saturated past, projecting future.
So if you're going to launch this, a launch assumes new.
Launch assumes no past, Launch assumes the start. Even you saying I'm behind is actually referencing I'm behind where I thought I would be in a previous time.
That's what behind is. You're not behind now. You're just behind a past projection of yourself that's not real. So you're right on time.
Yep.
So how would you operate if you were right on time and you were starting this new. And since there's. Since 99% of the world that needs this product doesn't know that the product exists, are you really held back by how you've done it up until now? No. 99% of the people who need to know about you don't know about you. You're launching it new to 99% of people. Okay, that's. That's a relaunch. A relaunch is not correcting past mistakes. On a relaunch is positioning yourself so that the 99% of people who don't know that you exist can find out about you. Which means it's new, it's fresh. They don't know you exist. All of those people don't know about the mistakes that you perceive that you made over the last two years. They have no idea they're seeing it for the first time. So zero of them are saying, like, what is this? I thought it was called this, or I thought they were selling on Amazon, or I thought the price was $19. They have no idea. They've never seen you before. It's fresh. It's a new launch. To them, it's brand new.
So how do you relaunch something? You launch it for the first time and you realize that the way that you did things up until now was you gathering the data for you to be able to do a proper launch today.
And you don't give any advice or any thought or any content to people who've been following you up until this point. They're either gonna come with you or not. You're after a specific pain point and a specific problem and a specific person launch from that place. That's a relaunch. Okay.
It's just that the patterns of thinking all this time, you know, get in the way. I just need to get that out of my way.
So you don't need, you don't need to get them out of the way. You need to think about how you want to do it.
From a new place.
That's it. Okay. There's no fixing what used to be or how you used to think. You just start practicing.
Doing the business the way you want to do the business.
Got it.
So how do you want to do the business?
I mean, like I said, you're just gonna have to, you know, start from scratch and raise awareness slowly but surely. And the way I see that is through influencers. Because I feel like that's the cheapest way to do it. I mean, I do have other ideas on how you can raise awareness. I mean I have an acne care product, right. And I have all these ways on how I can speed this up. But it's going to require money, right. Which I don't necessarily have right now to spend. So back to gonna start slow.
You're doing a lot of justification, like justifying limitations.
Like you're doing a lot of if then in your brain. I could, but I could, but. I could, but I could, but like it's like that mental energy is exhausting and I only know because I can relate, like I've done it too.
So. So your job.
Is to simply think about how you can best serve that person and get as much awareness in front of them as possible. And I'll tell you what, before and after photos and videos work real frickin well.
Yep, absolutely.
And sending care packages to mid level influencers works really freaking well.
And running paid advertising to an ad that's converting works real freakin well. And all of these cost $100 or less.
Got it.
Okay. Do you have anything that's working really well right now to some?
I think I always see a spike of sales when I have influence influencers on TikTok. Post a video, it just blows up. And I get lots of sales from it and that.
What types of videos are they doing?
Just using the product. It's like my type of product. It's not like a cream that you're gonna put on your, you know, breakout and hope that it's gonna work. It's literally shows you that it's working. It's like you just overnight. And so usually when they post those videos, you can see the results. People are like, oh My God. And so just go straight up to Amazon or to my Shopify store. So that's what I've seen.
Yeah. Good. So have you. You watched the content from Cap Inc. Last week about how we carve out a certain sphere for influencers? Right, right. So one of the things for you to consider.
You can have five influencers talking about you for free because it doesn't cost you any cash. Cash is just one of many assets.
And Greg, put a good comment. Take those videos and run them as ads.
Yeah, Real, real good idea.
I know Facebook doesn't like acne videos for some reason.
Then don't mention acne anywhere in the copy. Just show the before and after photo. Now we're sitting. We could sit here and we could talk like we talk strategy all day.
Yeah.
The real shift for you is practicing launching the business that you want rather than what you think you have to correct for, because you're trying to fix things in the past rather than casting a vision for the future. I am.
Yep.
And the more that you can think about where you're going and who you are and who you want to be, the faster that you will grow. Scouts honor promise. Okay.
Got it.
Yep.
Thank you.
All right, cool. Good to see you.
Andrew Baker, you're on deck. Give me a thumbs up.
All right, here we go.
What's up, Brian? How are you? I'm good, man. How are you doing?
Well, it's good to see you.
Good to see you too, man. Thanks. Thanks for your time. I really appreciate it. I. I hope this isn't okay. So what I'm suffering with right now, in all the ventures I've ever done, step one, I have analysis paralysis, big time. So I'm at, like, the very beginning of the journey, and I've got some ideas that match your three criteria about being in a. In a big market, having a line of products, and then. Oh, shoot. What's the third? Oh, crud. Okay, well, I know. Imagine margins. Yes.
And so really, my thing is, how do I pick between these multiple good ideas? I'm having a hard time. It's not really a good versus bad. It's a. Okay, there's this idea or there's this idea. Which one do I pursue and how do I. They're all things I'm passionate about. They're all things that I can build a brand around. And I know the person, mainly because I am the person. Right. That I'm going through these things. So, you know, I'm deciding between good versus good. How do I study the Market. How do I analyze which route I should go down?
And.
And honestly, just pull the trigger and go.
There's two ways. One is to decide or look at which one excites you the most.
Now when I ask you that question, does any. Do they even say that? I was like, yeah, that one excites me.
Oh, shoot.
I have three ideas. Two of them, I gotta say, are pretty tied.
All right, cool. So we've narrowed down two.
Yep.
So let's go to the next criteria then.
Okay.
Or the next. The next way that we could narrow this down, the next is is there a way to combine them under the same brand?
So for you, you mentioned that you are the person.
Yeah.
Which means that there's a thread that unites those two.
Yeah.
Because you're the thread.
Yeah.
So are you willing to share what the two ideas are that you're considering?
Yeah, absolutely. So I love making foods from scratch here in my house. Cheese, pasta, bread. I have found that as I've gone on that journey, obviously there's cooking equipment that I have to buy. And really, for me, it's really helped me reconnect with food in a super healthy, amazing way. And I'd love to share that. And then the second is I am a salesman by trade and I have not met too many. There's a lot of caffeine addicts among the sales profession. And so I would love to make a supplement for salesmen that has a neurotropic, that has the caffeine, that has some of those ingredients to stay steady throughout the day as you're prospecting and making cold calls and stuff.
So, so what would be the. What would be the product line in the food brand?
The food brand would be. Would be cast iron, I think would probably be one of the most important. A pasta maker. You have to put it through this little machine. Right. So you can actually press the pasta, shape it and stuff like that, some utensils. And.
That'S about as far as I've gotten with that product line.
Okay. So your energy level talking about food is just like pure enjoyment. And your thought on the nootropic is very heady.
Okay.
So I believe that you're more excited about the food stuff.
I think so.
And it just so happens that food related stuff has the higher, much higher valuations if you ever sell one day.
Oh, cool.
All right. My vote is to go in that direction.
Sweet. All right, problem solved. Thanks, Ryan.
How do you. How do you feel going? If that's.
If that's the direction I feel Good. You know, honestly, for me, like I said, like, step one is where I have the most hesitation. And so I have no problem making content. I have no issues talking about what I'm doing. No problems putting out ads and making a TikTok and Instagram and, you know, the lead magnet. Nothing else scares me at all.
Yeah, yeah.
But making the wrong decision here at the front end for me is. Is kind of scary. Yes. And I just saw Valentin. Yes. My name is Baker. My last name is Baker, so I probably should stay true to my heritage from, you know, 20 generations back.
But, yeah, that.
Yeah, that gets my vote.
Okay. All right, problem solved.
All right, Baker, Great to see you, my friend.
Thanks, Ryan. Appreciate.
It. All right, Val, you get the last word today. Give me a thumbs up if you is ready. Let's do it. Good morning, Val. How are you?
Morning, man. I'm good. I'm pumped by this one. It's a good session.
Good. I appreciate it. Thank you.
So we've been. I've been doing these free kind of branding sessions, right. With people in the group. Very targeted.
Great.
And I realized it's such an identity problem, these things. What I want to do next, it's not connected to how much do I want to do or what's a great idea, how much money can I make? It's what do I want to do? Because who am I? It's so deep, right?
Yeah.
So it's an identity issue. Branding is an identity issue. It's your identity issue. So doing these things, I just want to put that offer back out there because it's been working so great. Anybody who wants to do free branding with me, free consulting, just let me know and I'll give you. I'll give you all my time, as much as I have. But don't chat with me. Like, don't chat, just talk to me. Contact, do this. And we'll find that stuff and we'll break your resistance down. Then you can build a brand. Right. That's kind of. I just want to put that up.
Yeah. Thank you. And what's that process like? Like what, what do you help them discover in one of these?
Well, first you got. You got to get to know them, the empathy part, right? Like, who are you and why? Like, what's your. There's a resistance. We can, we can. You can look at the product and this is something interesting like that Greg mentioned. I got this product and he's got this product, and then we're so connected to it and we're so committed and we're like, no, we're not going to give up. We're going to keep going at this five years and I'm going to make that money. And in the back you had like, you just. It's like your body keeps doing this, but you're floating away because you have this dream, you have this passion that's somewhere else. It's this other thing. So getting that done initially, the breakdown of the reality truth, like, where's your heart at? Where's your intention at? Where's your mind at? That's deeper than just like, I'm going to get committed to this, then being honest about it. Because there's so much. Many people that are not honest. And I've seen a difference with somebody starting up something new or when they're open, like, I don't know. But then you talk about, well, who are you? Well, I'm a hunter and I do this and I do that, and I want this in my.
Then.
Then you're doing a hunting brand and you connecting this with this. And that's for people. So you have to find who they are from a. You just got to get honesty. And it becomes almost like a little. We become friends very quickly. Anybody I work with, I become friends with instant because I have to empathize with them first before I can empathize with the market, which I have most likely experience with. So the empathy part there is. I just realized through this group how much I love the initial part. Don't ask me how to scale and make a billion dollars. That's what you do amazingly, and that's what I would love to learn. But I just realized my own strength more when I'm in a group like this.
Eval.
Just stand. Stand there in the start. Be the guy. Be the brother who gets him into the army. Hey, man, you want to get them rounded? Get the guard lowered and let's talk about reality.
How should people contact you?
Val, just right now, just write me on. On Facebook. DM.
Will do. I've noticed two different when. When I can do it and they can jump on it, bam, magic happens. But I'm trying to create more of a scheduling place where I have this amount of time. Let's do it. And the next phase would be to, hey, let's just do like this. I can do sessions where I can talk to more people and get them through these little things quicker, but it's. It's trickier. Like you in the personal kind of touches. Yeah, so much, you know, easier. So. Yeah, that's so yeah.
So if you're struggling with a branding issue or what you should do next, should have a dm. Deval, it's a big thank you for giving that to the 1%.
I appreciate it anytime. It's my pleasure. And I just want to give a quick about the bigger vision this happened. A similar thing happened me about what happened to Greg and that's why I'm excited to help him brand this greater vision as well. Because so personal.
For him and for myself. It's. I realized I've been working on platforms prior and I've been very passionate about platforms. The chicken or the end. How do you create a culture? How do you make these things? Where do you start? How do you. How do you move with the pivoting of these things? So I realized I'm working. I go back to marketing. I go back to marketing and I work for clients. And then I realized these things that make sure in the middle of the night, we're like, man, I got to get this out. I got to get this out. It's a great idea. And the platform, I thought I'll give it right now just as of a proof of that. Even though I give it now, people aren't going to do it. It is an educational platform where we have noise. It's so noisy, right? Who are we going to pick? Who are we going to pick these days? Because there's so many things. But it's not based. We're getting so much information, but it's not based off of your personality. So you got to find out your personality. And then from a personality, you get prescription of what should you read and in what time, in what order clarify that thing that can get automated. We have now an automated course kind of app or website for younger, newer generations. This could be done very simply with Matt. You know, mass logs or hierarchy needs and then business needs. You combine these, present these things and this is what I want to work on.
It's.
It's grand vision. It's nothing compared to like so that. That it just. Now my problem is this. And how much should I sacrifice and at what time? Because I pump when I, you know, I pump when I think about the vision of this, but I get scared.
So is that a question or a statement?
The question is. Well, it's a statement and the question is ongoing because.
How quickly like I have this feeling, right? I've seen this vision.
I have the work that I do need to put in place now. And I hope this is boundaries.
Yeah, yeah.
And then put the process So I can leave Boundary.
The first boundary is on yourself.
Yeah. Okay.
If you honor your own time, then the boundary is natural. It's when you start giving in to that.
Yeah, yeah, that's true.
Other people. Other people bleed over into it.
Hmm.
That's all right. So if people want to work with you, they'll reach out on Facebook. Thanks for that give, Val. Appreciate it.
Anytime, man. Just do it. Thank you, brother.
Okay, my friends, great to see you. Thanks for such a great session. Next week, we'll be joined by Kevin Anson, who will be helping us scale video ads so that you can run this process more effortlessly. Thanks for all of your attention today. We'll see you guys later. Take care.
