And we're off. Here we are, everybody. Welcome to the second and final free webinar on selling on Amazon. I'm just checking to make sure all our technology is working in kosher because we had some trouble last week, for darn sure.
These webinars tend to be extremely popular. So we crashed my server last week. So I'm just doing a final check.
And we look good. So, hey everybody, thanks for coming. This chat box, if you're on the Freedom Fast Lane site or you're on the Google site on the backup server, either one is fine. There's a box below both of them where you can ask me a question about Amazon, you can ask me about building that type of a business, you ask me about Amazing Selling Machine, you can ask me about the tribe, which is my bonus for joining Amazing Selling Machine.
And it is my mastermind, our mentoring group where we've had many, many success stories come through the tribe and be incredibly successful as a result of going through that group. In fact, I'd even credit some of my success to, to putting that group together because we all help each other and mentor each other move on to the next level.
So if you have any questions about any of those things, you can feel free to put them in the chat box below and I will get to them. While you're watching, I would love to just hear from you and let me know that you're here. So if you want to punch in, not everybody's name shows up. Some of you are using anonymous screen names on the chat box. So go ahead and type in hello, let me know that you're here so I can say hey back. Somebody just posted in the chat box. This is a replay and no, it's not. It is. I've actually gotten to my time machine, gone into the future, seen that you put that on there and am now saying it back to you. So.
What I want to do today.
Go through.
Some Amazon strategy with you and I'm actually going to pull up some notes that I want to go over with you because there's. Well, I won't spoil a surprise. Yes, I will. Here we go. There's two different approaches with this type of a business. A physical products, real business because you're not the face of it, you're not an affiliate for it. You're building up a real business with real products. So there's a couple of different approaches. There is the build for cash flow approach, which is my approach currently, but it might tweak here shortly. There's also the build and sell model there is the build a business to sell it. And again, I know you've heard that story a thousand times. I always say that. But my story is in the information products world where my name was on everything. My name is on all those products. And that type of a business is really hard to sell. But if you are building a business that has physical products that you are.
That don't have your name on it, that aren't.
Your personality is not married to that, that's a business that you can sell for an amount of money that could set you up for life. And that's a type of business that wasn't possible in most of the Internet marketing type of language. Most of the Internet marketing type of business that we're all used to if you've not gone the physical products route. So we're going to talk a little bit about positioning your product, your business for sale, because that is something that you want to consider when you're getting into this type of a business. You want to be thinking about.
Is this a business model that I want to to think about building and selling so that I can do other things with my time so that I can think about building other businesses so that I can just peace out and be done if that's what I want to do.
Hey everybody, thanks. For those of you who are typing in, typing in. Hello. Hey, Micah. Hey. Microphone check. Hey, St. Louis Ryan. And we'll get to your questions here in a second. So there's a couple things I want you to keep in mind when you are looking getting into this business. If your idea is to build a business and sell it, and I've had the benefit of interacting with some people who are actually in the market of.
Purchasing these types of businesses. It's something that we're looking to actually bring into the tribe is some people who want to buy businesses so that people are building businesses have the opportunity to sell those businesses. And the thing that people are looking for when they're buying businesses is not anything sexy, is not anything that is really out of the ordinary. Actually boring businesses are more attractive to a potential buyer than something really, really sexy. So things that are the Procter and Gamble approach stuff that people are going to use forever is a very attractive type of a business for an investor to purchase as opposed to something that's completely out of left field, that.
Is going to be really hard to duplicate, that's going to be very difficult to duplicate. Whereas if you have a boring business, for example, my yoga business is a very attractive type of a business to potentially be purchased because it's a really boring business model. Right? We do environmentally friendly yoga products. There's nothing really sexy about that. We can make it sound sexy in our marketing because there are new benefits to it. Right? People who do yoga tend to be very environmentally conscious. So that's a part of the market that we are hitting. But the idea of selling products to that demographic isn't that revolutionary of an idea and that makes it more attractive as a potential sale. I tell you all of this because I know you're not thinking about it right now, but some of you are going to reach a point in a physical products business where you think about do I want to sell this business for a million or 2 million bucks and invest it into stocks and real estate and peace out or do I want to grow this into a multi million dollar business? I have one business. My yoga business is one that we want to build and sell. Some of my other businesses are ones that we want to build and hold onto because eventually I want to own the Cleveland Indians. So my model there is a little bit different. So you have different options in this business where as opposed to the kind of old school Internet marketing days, you didn't have that option. You didn't have. You didn't have that.
You didn't get to have that mentality. You didn't get to have. You can't sell a business that is an info product. You can, but it's very difficult to. I know a few people have done it, but it's much more difficult to do it like that then if you have physical products.
And so this is a new option that is available to you if you're building this type of a business.
Okay, so a couple questions have come in and then we can dive into this further if you want. Question from microphone check Ryan speaks the truth. And talking about building a business and selling it. Just did this. My brick and mortar. Nice job. Sold for a seven figure valuation. Make your cash flow and then when you are ready to move on, you get paid again. Awesome. Microphone check in if you want to elaborate on that. I'd love to hear more about that. So congratulations on selling your business. Hi Louise. Question, is this okay for Canadians? No, Canadians are not allowed to make money at all because your currency is undervalued. No, of course it's okay for Canadians. I have plenty of Canadian friends who build Internet businesses. Question from St. Louis, Ryan David, did the Cat Scratcher Facebook launch two and a half months ago? Oh, you did. My style of Facebook launch two and a half months ago, gave away 50 units, have since done two additional relaunches and given away 150 units. Currently have 80 reviews and 2 PPC sales and 3 organic sales per day. Conversion rate is 25%. PPC loses money. Where do I go from here? Great question, Ryan. So where you want to go from here is first of all we need to look at is there enough volume in your marketplace for you to compete? Because You've already got 80 reviews but you're only doing a handful of sales per day, we might need to massage where you are in the marketplace. If the people above you in the rankings are doing plenty of volume, then all we need to do is to send more traffic through pay per click or through Amazon or through other channels to get you up in the rankings. For some reason, some products just seem to get stuck in the keyword rankings and I'm not sure how to outdo Amazon's algorithm when that happens, except to keep giving the algorithm what it wants, which is sales and reviews, and continue to focus on that until it's at a point where you're ranking. So your focus needs to be on where you're ranking for those keywords and what do you need to do in order to ensure that you're getting those sales off of Amazon to give the algorithm what it wants? Doing regular discounts on Facebook, not necessarily for a dollar but for half off or the at cost value seems to help. Doing plenty of Amazon pay per click definitely helps Compare where your reviews are compared to your competition. If you're There's a little bit of a comparison game that happens here where if you've got 80 reviews and your competition has four, you're obviously going to sell more units. But if your competition has hundreds and you've only got 80, then we need to continue to focus on reviews until.
It'S really easy for a potential customer to come in and say I want to go with this guy over this guy. Also look at your pricing because right now you're playing a numbers game for volume. So look at your pricing. What is the reason why someone would choose you over somebody else? Your conversion rate is great, but if somebody is seeing your price or they're seeing your reviews and it's an easy comparison to somebody else for them to choose somebody else, then we've got to work on your other factors, your images. We need to work on your pricing, we need to work on your reviews. I like higher price products. If you are not a premium product though, then it's important for you to price accordingly for volume until you're at a point where your reviews outdo your competitors reviews. Let me know if that makes sense. St. Louis Ryan question from Dave O. If you choose the wrong product, what's the worst case scenario and where would you recommend going from there to learn what the right products are? Well, in the tribe we talk about the right products all the time so we try to do everything that we can to make sure that you don't choose a wrong product. But another cool thing is I think.
At least they did this last launch Amazing Selling Machine guaranteed your inventory. So they do. If your inventory doesn't sell, they even guarantee your investment into.
Your inventory. So they have a money back guarantee even on your inventory that if you do all the things they say they're going to do, they guarantee that. Look into that. I know they did it last round. I'm not sure if they're doing it this round too, but I know that they did it last round. By the way, amazingstyle Machine closes in two days, so if you want to join, click the link on this page that says join the tribe. Click here you get access to my tribe which we'll talk about. It's my mentoring group of we have incredible, incredible success stories that have come through this group and if you're not getting into a mastermind group when you're joining this business, you're at a severe, severe disadvantage. And I would obviously highly recommend my tribe not just because it's me, but because we have the track record of incredible success stories. People who have gotten mentored in that group.
Question, just curious, since you are already moving over 7,000 items per month, how many feedback do you currently have received for your lap? I don't understand your question. How many reviews does your first product.
About 600 reviews on our first product. I'm wondering how many does it take to get your level over? Okay, it's impossible for me to say how many reviews it's going to take for you to get to the $250,000 a month level. It is obviously different for every market. Question from Mitch when you are ready to order to get the product to Amazon, do you always use a company to do that process or do you guys handle that? We use a shipping company.
The person who builds or makes the product in China will ship it to a port in the US and then you hire a company to bring that inventory over to Amazon. That usually costs about a dollar per unit.
Microphone check. I already signed up 3 minutes before it went live. This is. Oh, hey Chris, the one with the Swedish wife.
Question. If you find out the top product in the niche you want to get owned in is a billion dollar business, would this scare you away from going in? Not necessarily. It depends on how they're marketing online. So if their marketing sucks online, you can probably beat them. And I wouldn't worry about it being a billion dollar business. Ryan, if you had about $1,500 to spend initially as a first product, would you go with a more competitive product or would you probably require something or would you require more.
I'm sorry guys, but your English is very bad today. Or would you prefer a less competitive one? If you've got about $1,500 to spend initially, I would probably go for a less competitive product.
Alright, so you've seen here we're talking with.
Chris mentioned here that he's built a business and sold. That's the way to go. That type of a business model is totally possible with Amazon and it's something that we're focusing on a little bit. I'm focusing on a little bit in the tribe. What's cool about the tribe is you get to see the different phases of business because we have people that went through the first ASM like myself, we have people who went through the second amazing selling machine, the third one, and now the fourth one. So you have people at each stages of these businesses coming in and saying, here's what it looks like at each stage of the process or here's what I'm focusing on now that I'm at this level. So for me we're starting to.
See two years into the future about what you might be focusing on. Whereas a lot of groups are just starting out or they don't have that type of experience in order to give to you, you have a group of 250 people that are going to be giving their experience and then we have the group that's currently going through the course where we're mentoring each other each step of the process and are really, really active in that community.
Ryan, when you say that you should only be looking at products in the top couple hundred ranking, do you mean in general categories? Yes, that's exactly what I mean in general categories. DD I'm an ASM2 member. Can I still join the tribe? This is, I'm going to say this, this is the last time I'm going to answer this question because I've answered it probably 150 times. Yes, you can still join it. You buy your way in and you can join the tribe that way, but I prefer people who are just starting getting into the tribe.
All right, so let's dive into a new topic. Do you guys have any questions about ASM specifically or about the tribe specifically? If you do, go ahead and type them into the chat box below and I'll get to them. Because there are only two days left to start this business. There's only two days left where you have the opportunity to get the best training in the world on this topic and to be in the best mastermind group in the world for mentoring you to success on this business model. You have two days left and look.
Like you've got to join or the world's going to end. Do this when it's right for you and your family.
That's when it's the time to step up to the plate and make a change through this business. So if that's not where you are, don't let all this pressure of the doors closing bother you. Just say this isn't the right time for me and I'm gonna start a different type of business when I'm ready. But if you know that you're ready to make a change, you've got two days to do it and I'd recommend that you start to get in and you get off your behind and dive into the training. So there's not gonna be this big pressure push from me. There's just gonna be.
Me reminding you that this is the business that you want to be in. It's time to step up to the plate and join Amazing Selling Machine and I'll shake your hand at the live event in February. Question from Susan over at the backup page. Hi Ryan, what do you recommend to do to get more product reviews as you are building your listing? How do you encourage reviews other than the follow up email after the purchase? Susan, I've talked about this a lot in my YouTube videos.
You could have people write into an email address and follow up with them. That way you can call them. But the best thing you can do is just have a really great friggin product and that's the best thing that you can do for product reviews. When will the here's yes, thank you J. Hart for asking the most relevant question of the hour. When will the first call be for the new members of the tribe? The new members will meet for the first time a week from this Saturday. Is that right? Let me double check that. I believe.
Yeah, it will be November 1st, so we will kick off on November 1st. That is a week from this Saturday. And so a week from this Saturday, probably at 11:00am Eastern Time, well be on a hangout like this one. And we'll be going through the training for an hour or two as we're. As we're kind of getting to know each other. And the email welcome to the tribe will go out on Monday. So next week is going to be a very busy but very, very exciting time for the tribe. So the first call is going to be a week from this Saturday. Doors closed for amazing sewing machine this Friday midnight. So you have two more days to get in. J. Hart, thank you for the clarification. You also mentioned that ASM still guarantees up to $1,000 of inventory. So for those of you who are like, hey, I'm not so sure about picking the right product, if you follow their training and you can verify that you did their training, they guarantee up to $1,000 of inventory. So if things go wrong, they'll not only refund you on the course, but they'll refund you on your first inventory as well.
All right.
Jayhart, thank you again. You get a virtual high five for having the most relevant question of the hour.
I like the question from anonymous 3802. I'm Ron Burgundy. You see this mustache right here? This is for.
The Halloween costume of dressing like Ron Burgundy. I have a pretty sweet Ron Burgundy outfit. What was the level of competition for your first product on your first launch, and what do you think you have done better to outrank your competitors? I think the level of competition was medium to low on our first one. The thing that we did better than our competitors was, first of all, having a unique product. Second, being absolutely vigilant in our reviews. So we get an average of about 40 reviews a month, so maybe a review a day, whereas our competitors don't try to get reviews. So our growth looked like this. So here's our competitor, which is about medium to low competition.
They're here, and we were at the bottom, right? So they stayed flat. And then we started to grow. And as they we grew, they dipped to the point where we're now we're here. In fact, we thought we maxed out on that market at a very low number. But what we found was, as we continued our marketing, what we thought topped out at, like, 20 to 25 units a day, now does over 100 units a day. One product. So our first product, we were the number one person in our category, only selling a handful a day. But because we were really vigilant in growing that business.
We sell over 100 units today on that product. Now, because we were vigilant in growing and capturing more of the marketplace, now no one will touch us. We don't deal with competition because people know they can't beat us and they won't.
Are there any Amazon sellers whose pages you find yourself checking because they are so on the money? Any that you swiped ideas or use this inspiration? Abundant Health has done a really good job.
Who else?
Abundant Health has done a good job. You know, there's not a whole lot of people who I feel like are doing a better job than me. I'm sorry if that sounds arrogant.
That's a great question. Let me. Let me think about this one, Max. Let me put this in my back burner. Dr. Tobias is a good one that we track.
Trying to think in the yoga space.
You know, if you want to follow somebody, follow ZenActive. ZenActive is my yoga company. We are constantly testing and tweaking things. That is a really, really good.
That's a really, really good example.
Do you have any products that are not selling after all of your marketing efforts? Yes. And the reason we found that the products that haven't sold well after all of our marketing efforts has usually been the products that had the least quality. So if we have a really high quality product and we do all our marketing right, we tend to get repeat customers, and as a result, things grow. Is there a platform to interact with other tribe members outside of the weekly calls? Absolutely. We have a very, very active Facebook group. Extremely active Facebook group.
My goodness. Sorry, guys. I'm having a hard time keeping up with all your questions. So let me ignore all of your questions for a moment and just go into a little bit of training. How about that? I want to talk to those of you who are like, how do I get partners and investors who are going to fund this for me? Because I know a lot of you are saying, like, this is expensive for me. I don't know that I'm ready to take this step. First of all, if you're not comfortable spending the amount of money that it takes to start a business, then don't start the business. But I know people who have said, I don't have money, but I've got time. So I'm going to find people who have money but no time, and I'm going to get them to fund my business. Look, if you want to be an entrepreneur, you need to start thinking, asking the question, can, how can I do something? Rather than can I do something? Because you will always find reasons why you cannot do something. But if you ask yourself the question, how can I do something without blank, Tony Robbins says that the quality of our life is dependent upon the quality of the questions that we ask ourselves. So if you're asking yourself.
How can I do this without paying? Or how can I do this with as little money as possible, you're gonna get a certain answer. But if you're asking yourself the question, how can I build a million dollar business without investing any money of my own? You start to get very different answers to those questions. So.
There are people out there who have money but no time and want to partner with you. There are people in the tribe who want to do that. You have rich uncles and rich cousins who want to do that. There are people out there who would love to invest in a business where there's somebody championing the cause. To do that, you need to bring an idea. And if you really want to be awesome, bring a prototype, one physical unit of a product and say, this is what I want to do. Will you fund this? Think of it like Shark Tank. People don't go to Shark Tank with an idea. They go in with a prototype and they say, we need to get into stores or we need to get selling online or whatever it is. And they're looking for the best potential partner to help guide them along that process. So you can do the same thing with your physical products business, which is, I have this idea, or even better, I have this prototype. I'm going in this direction. Do you want to join me? And that is a powerful question. That is a much more powerful question is will you give me money so that I can try a business? It's no, this is the business I'm going in. Do you want to join me or should I find someone else? So there's, I have a training inside of my 10 day success challenge over at freedomfastline.com which encourages you to build your success network. Your success network is the group of people around you who are mentoring you towards success. If you go to that success network, tell them the type of business that you're going to build, then ask for support or say, do you want to join me? You have a very good chance at getting the result that you want. But don't go to them and say, I'm thinking about going into a business. Will you give me money to do that? That's a bad question to ask.
So if you go to your success network and you tell them the business that you're going into and you say, will you join me? In this process or do you want to be a part of this? You have a good chance of getting funding, getting at least a few thousand dollars for your entry fee into asm, your inventory and getting things rolling with your first round of marketing. So if you're in a position where you are dead set on making this business happen, but you are not at the, you don't have the financial resources to do it on your own, that's an option for you is getting investors to, to support you on that path.
Alright, so I'm going to field through some of your questions and answer the relevant ones. So I would prefer to keep the conversation today about final questions about asm, final questions about the tribe and then I'll get to as many Amazon strategy questions as I can. But I'd like to keep today's.
I would like to keep the conversation as on point as possible, but I'll get to as many Amazon questions as possible.
J. Hart.
You'Re my favorite person today. J. Hart says, I joined ASM last week. I can already tell that it's a great product and well worth the investment. I'm really excited to get this started. I agree. Jay Hart. I want to point out one thing, a reminder, guys, this is probably my plan right now is this is going to be the last time that I do asm. I'm sorry? That I do the tribe along with asm.
I am going to be moving the tribe beyond the level of just asm. The tribe is like, it's my group, right? They're my peeps and there's a throwback to the 90s. They're my peeps.
I should put a hat on backwards and put on some Nirvana or something or some Hanson at least. So the tribe is, they're my group. So we are going to move beyond just the level of training of ASM and I want to move that. So this is the last time, at least my plan is right now that the tribe, this is the last time that it's gonna be connected to ASM and we're gonna have the tribe move into a more advanced direction. So this is a business that you want to be in. This is the time to join the tribe. It's not next round, if there even is gonna be a next round. I don't know. The time is to get into the tribe now because we're gonna be moving even beyond asm. We'll be working together until a live event, but after that then it's, it's time for us to move into a more advanced Direction.
David asks, I heard that you didn't use the ASM tools to get your business successful. What tools did you use? We actually did use the ASM tools we don't use. We use their autoresponder. I don't use a lot of their other tools. I definitely don't use their press release tool. I don't really believe in press releases as a marketing piece, but they have great tools that some people have. All they've used is ASM tools and have been extremely successful. The only tools I use outside of their autoresponder is we use Stitch Labs, which is just an order organizer. It's like a customer relationship manager, but I don't even use that extensively. Special shout out to my very handsome business partner, Matt Davis, who has put on a bunch of muscle in the last six months and looks like a fricking tank and keeps posting these Facebook photos that really distract me at work. I'm just sitting there admiring his incredible physique. So, Matt, if you would stop distracting me, I'd appreciate that.
Okay, I'm going through your questions right now, folks.
Anonymous3802 keeps posting movie quotes. I appreciate it. Thank you.
My guess is the deadline. Is the deadline lined up with ASM closing time midnight Friday?
Join ASM is. Is Friday at midnight as far as I know. So. And I don't know of any relaunches or reopenings if and if they're gonna do ASM again, I don't know about it. So.
That is the deadline, as far as I know is Friday at midnight. And yes, that is the deadline to join the tribe as well. What is the one thing you will walk away with from ASM that makes it worth signing up? Great question. I would say that the thing you walk away with is that you can build a product from scratch with very little upfront cost and you can get it selling and that the growth potential of that business is far bigger than anything else that Amazon within Amazon itself. So the thing you'll take away with is that you can build a business from scratch, partner with a channel, and get it kicked off to be insanely profitable. And that serves as a launch platform for a host of other opportunities for you, my partner Matt and I, who's extremely handsome and muscular. We just had a call 30 minutes ago about some opportunities in retail that are opening up to us. And we are now starting to have the conversation. After a year and a half of selling, you know, hundreds of thousands, we sold now millions of dollars of product just on Amazon we're at the point now where opportunities are opening up for us in retail. So I'd say ASM is how to get your first win. You get an awesome product made and you get it selling regularly to the where you have regular consistent cash flow coming in. You have a lifestyle business and then the opportunity this for you to go much bigger than that.
Do I still use Amazon ads? Yes. Have you tested Pinterest ads? No. What's ASM's profit margin for international sellers? Oh, man, I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know about international sellers because I'm not international. But. But in the US I shoot for 40% minimum profit. If you're not getting 40% minimum, I would not recommend moving forward.
Would I be able to take the free info that you, Matt and John, I don't know who John is. I think you mean Jason are giving away and create an Amazon business? Sure. What would be the advantages of scraping together money for ASM versus using the free info that's being given? Couple things. First of all.
The path of doing it correctly. The second is the community of people mentoring you within the tribe. And within asm, there are opportunities to launch products within the tribe because we have people who put together customer lists and help each other sell products. We have people who have advanced knowledge or sharing with new people and saying, here's what you need to be doing at this stage of your business without that stuff. Yeah, you can start a business. It's just you're going to be completely on your own. You're also going to miss out on the live event, which is where a lot of cool action happens. We're going to meet, shake hands, have dinner together. We're going to look at how we can help one another. You're going to be interacting with a bunch of other tribe members. So you're at a bit of a disadvantage if you do this on your own, but is it possible? Sure, Absolutely.
I joined ASM through your link. Thank you. A few days ago, but as you know, there are other guys promoting this course and doing some unethical things that I'm worried about. They might have sneaked into their affiliate link somehow. Is there any way to make sure that I'm with you 100%? Yes. You can email ASM's customer support and say, hey, just wanted to make sure that I signed up under Ryan Daniel Moran. Could you please make sure that he was credited with my affiliate commission and if that's the case, you'll be added to my Ledger. I'll follow up with you on Monday and we'll be making some magic happen.
Will I be at the conference in Vegas this year? Yes. Do we get to sit with you? You get to have dinner with me. I don't know where I'll be sitting. I'll probably be in the speaker section. But yes, we get to have dinner.
Is there a way to see how a competitor is doing? Yes. I know that you can see how they have reviews. The one I'm considering has about 400 reviews. No problem. Should I look into a different product or might I be okay? 400 reviews is no problem. You can definitely compete with somebody who has 400 reviews. And to see how a competitor is doing, look at their best seller rank. Look at their.
Let me actually switch over to something.
I'm listening to music while I'm talking to you, which is a bit of an experiment. I haven't done that before.
So let's do.
Let's do this.
Actually. Let's do this. Here we go.
For you.
Okay.
We'Re gonna go to Amazon. I'm gonna type in Zenactive, which is my yoga products company.
Take a look at.
This top listing. If you go down, this is our yoga mat.
If you scroll down to this section right here, the lower this number is, the better it's selling. So it looks like today might be a slow sales day.
This number, the magic number for me is a thousand. If you can get your products at about a thousand, you've got a full time business. If you're below 1,000, you're selling a lot of product. If you're above 1,000, higher than 1,000, you're probably not selling enough to be at a full time business. So that is how you can kind of analyze your competition.
