It's easier to win today than it has ever been. The thing is, most people just aren't willing to feel uncomfortable enough in order to get ahead of everybody else, who, quite frankly, is lazy, fat broke and unhappy. You're not going to like this video. I can Already see the YouTube comments are like, ryan, yeah, but it's nice for you to say, look, this isn't going to make a lot of you feel good, but it will liberate a lot of you in order to pursue the goals that you actually want to hit in your life. This week I went to an event, and at this event, it was, quite honestly, a wine party. Wine W H I N e.
It was a bunch of people whining about the state of the world. If you look on social media, you see the wine party happening everywhere. But the idea that most people are now just spending their time whining about the state of the world is a beautiful reflection of how we got to this point in the first place. You might have seen that meme, and the meme says that good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times, and hard times create strong men, and then strong men create good times. We're right in that period right now where we have a lot of weak men. And this is the crisis of abundance. Abundance is when you have more options than you have time. Abundance is when you have more food than you can eat. Abundance is when you have more opportunities than you can pursue. And therefore, the way that you thrive in an abundant time is the discernment to say no to the things that are not in alignment with what you want to create. The responsibility of each one of us is to define the life that we want and say no to everything else. And if you are willing to do that, then it is easier today to win than it's ever been because everything, everybody else is so soft. I have only come to this awareness for myself over the last year or so after going through a very hard time in which I was anxious, I was depressed, I was not making the money that I wanted to make, some projects weren't working out, and all of it, looking back, was because I was unwilling to feel uncomfortable for long enough in order to get the results that I wanted. If you want 1% type of success, if you want to be a millionaire, if you want to be in shape, you must accept that there is a cost to that. And the biggest cost that you will incur in that is feeling shitty. It was about a year ago that I was sitting in a room with Alex Hormozy, Leila Hormozi, and my friend Brooke Castillo. And I remember turning to them and saying, you guys make me feel like the fat guy at the gym. Like, I had some business success, success. I've done some cool things. I have a little bit of an audience. But you guys are so much at a different level that I feel like I'm the nerdy fat kid in high school who doesn't know how to talk to anybody. And I told them that, not as a way of saying, you guys make me feel bad and you need to change something. I was saying that from the perspective of, thank you for making me feel this uncomfortable. Thank you for making me realize that there is more that I could expand into. Thank you for stirring this up in myself so that I can feel it, process it, and then recalibrate to what I want to create next. That was not a fun experience. That was not a fun feeling to have. And they were loving to me. They were accepting to me, just like most people at the gym are going to be loving and accepting to someone who is equal, eager to make a change in their life and willing to feel the embarrassment of starting something new. At one of the recent Capitalism conferences, Brooke Castillo said on stage that everything that you want is on the other side of feeling what you don't want to feel. Feeling the discomfort of doing the thing is where what you want lives. It's easy to look at someone like Alex Hormozi, who talks about volume doing more than everybody else, and to say, okay, the way through is for me to just outwork this feeling. And there is absolute truth to that. That is very good advice for a lot of people, but for much of the world, that feels like there's just this mountain that they need to climb before the results get there. One way through is to just look at what everybody else is unwilling to do and do a little bit more than them. When I became aware of this myself, I was not happy with how I let it get to this point. I was distracting myself with food. I was distracting myself with social media. I was distracting myself with comfort. I was distracting myself with loneliness. I was distracting myself by isolating myself from other people. And so I started practicing doing things that were a little bit harder. Stay hard, like getting up earlier in the morning doing cold plunges, which I know is so cliche for a white man living in Austin, Texas, today. Yeah, at this point, I can feel my cold Sheetrock shell shock proteins elevating, and I can't feel my feet. It was Doing things like hiring a coach that was going to tell me things that I didn't want to hear, but having the accountability to actually move forward in the direction that I wanted to take my life, even though it meant that I would do things that I didn't like, like doing in the short run. If we don't do those things, then we reach a point in our life in which it feels like things are crumbling. Because when we're trying to hold up all of these spinning plates and we're avoiding actually doing the work that is required, then eventually something breaks. Our health breaks, a relationship goes under, a business doesn't work out, and then we feel the pain at its full forced upon us as entrepreneurs. We're building 1% lives, we're building 1% incomes. We have more opportunities to do it than ever before. But it still requires you to go through that uncomfortable period of feeling like you suck. If you want to move forward, if you want to go through three to six months of really uncomfortable time so that you get to a hundred sales a day and have a multi million dollar business that you can sell, you can apply to work with us@capitalism.com I think one of the reasons why so many of our followers, our customers, our clients, have been so successful is because we're very reasonable in expectations. One year to have a million dollar business is very reasonable. Promising that you will have $100,000 a month next month. Likely unreasonable. It happens, but likely unreasonable. We like in this entrepreneurial world to make promises that feel good, just like watching Netflix feels good. But I think one of the reasons why our students have so much success is because I'm very open about the fact that the first three to six months suck. They're, they're actually fun as hell, but they suck because you're doubting yourself all the time. You're worried about failure all the time. You're surrounded by people who are already having multimillion dollar businesses. But after about six months, something happens. You start to get sales, you start to get reviews, you start to get repeat customers. There's some momentum. You still feel like you're an absolute amateur at it. You still feel like you have no idea what you're doing, but you have enough momentum to launch the second product. And then you're like, oh my goodness, am I going to have enough money to make this work? And then nine months go by and you have three products and you're doing 60 sales a day and everybody thinks you're cool as shit and you still feel like a failure. And you're doing $50,000 a month in top line, but you're still worried about making that inventory order that you're not sure you're going to have the cash flow for. And then a year goes by and you have million dollar business and all your friends think that you're gonna pay for dinner forever because you've got a million dollar business and you're like, this could crumble at any time. But it is true that I have a million dollar business. That's pretty cool. Why don't I feel any different? Why do I still feel like I'm a failure? Because I'm watching these people on the Internet who have multi million dollar businesses. And then two years go by and someone gives you an offer to buy your business for $3.4 million and you're like, oh my goodness, I did it. That's the reality of entrepreneurship. And when you have that expectation and you accept it rather than avoid it, now you have the emotional capacity to be a million dollar entrepreneur. And if you want some help, come join us inside the 1%@capitalism.com 1. Do you know it still makes me uncomfortable to do calls to action at these videos. I feel like I suck at it. It makes me feel weird. And I still do it. And our membership is up and our application rates are up. And over time I'll get better at it. And in time I will find ways to tie it into the content so it doesn't feel like an ask. Because everything new that you do feels uncomfortable, including the business that you'll start. I'm Ryan. Danny Moran with capitalism.com thanks for watching. Feel free to hate me in the comments. See you next time.
