Ryan Daniel Moran woke up sad for no clear reason: he'd overeaten, slept poorly, and skipped his meditation routine. He explains how physical discomfort feeds negative thoughts, and how social media pressure makes people hide sadness. Movement helps shift your mood, but the real point is simpler: sadness is normal, and it's okay to feel it.

So today I am very sad.
Not sad about anything, just sad. I woke up really sad.
And I've been sad all day. I can tell you why I'm sad. I'm sad because I ate too much last night. I didn't sleep very well at all.
My stomach hurts from eating too much. I haven't eaten any good food. I didn't meditate or journal today.
That's why I'm sad. I feel sad.
It made me think like as soon as I felt sad, all my thoughts became sad. Where I was like, oh, I feel sad. I'm not going anywhere in life.
That's weird. I felt, I felt the feeling and then all my thoughts followed. Makes me think like.
If you just went and got happy or motivated, would your thoughts go that way too? Probably. It's just interesting. And.
I'm making this video for you. I'm really making it for me. I'll probably feel better about myself if I get a whole bunch of likes and shares on a video about sadness. But I made the video because.
It'S 2017 and this is Facebook and YouTube or wherever videos are sold and everybody's talking about crushing it and having perfect abs and doing all kinds of amazing things. And sometimes you just feel not like crushing it. Now what's interesting is everyone from the outside would look at my day or life and say, guy's freaking crushing it. Guy's got it frickin made, right? But I feel sad. Everybody says that about you too.
Maybe not your friends or your parents, but people from the outside when they look at your social media or people.
In countries that have far less than we do, or people from the past who are, who are old or dead would look at your life and say, man, dude or girl has it made, right?
Doesn't change how we feel all the time.
And then the way we feel affects our thoughts. When that's negative, that's when we lose.
That's all. It's just another feeling. It's okay.
You'Re not gonna crush it every day.
And.
I really think there's something to just.
Your brain following your body because your brain's an organ. So what I should probably do now is do some push ups. Go do something that's gonna get me thinking positively and go get momentum and motivation. Because I haven't had like a dopamine kick today, like a hit today. I haven't laughed today.
I haven't done things that will get you in a forward motion. I just feel sad. And I'm focused on the things that aren't working, rather than things that are.
But I think we can manipulate that in some way.
But it's okay to just sit and feel it. It's just another emotion.
So people around you on Facebook have perfect abs and are crushing it, right? No, they feel sad, too, and I just thought you should know that.
