You know when my career really changed was when I started thinking about enterprise value. Instead of thinking about cash flow and what I could do to make money, I started thinking about how much value I could create in terms of how much a company will sell for. That changed the way that I think about business. It changed the types of people that I attempted to hire. It changed the projects that I focused on. Because if you're not thinking about how do I make an extra 10k a month and you're thinking instead how do I add an extra million dollars in equity value to the business, you think longer term you make more strategic decisions, you're less stressed about the short term, day to day swings of things and it will ultimately make you more money and more successful as an entrepreneur. So when I realized that I could sell a business that changed the way that I looked at my day to day decisions and it made me a much better entrepreneur.
