Long-term thinking compounds over decades while short-term choices feel good now but lead nowhere. Reading a book, buying index funds for 30 years, or serving clients well beats checking your phone, meme coins, and shortcuts.

You can easily tell if somebody is going to get rich just by looking at how long term they think. Do they make short term decisions? Like I'm going to check my phone right now, I'm going to be on social media right now. Or are they thinking long term like I'm going to read a book right now. Are they looking at I'm going to buy this meme coin and hope that it goes up or I'm going to buy this index fund that is probably going to produce 10% over 30 years. Are they looking at I'm going to take a shortcut in how I serve this client or is it looking at this client is somebody I might work with for 10 years. So I want to do a really good job right now. Those returns in all of those long term decisions compound for a very long time. The short term decisions only feel good right now and then it's over and you're onto the next short term decision. I can easily look at who is going to be successful by simply looking at the decisions they're making and if they're making long term decisions versus short term.
