E-commerce takes at least twelve months of intensive work before you can pay yourself a real salary. Most founders need side income like Uber driving to survive while reinvesting profits. After that grind, the compounding effect can build a seven-figure business with serious cash flow, which most entrepreneurs never reach because they quit too early.

If you need to make money fast, you shouldn't be in E Commerce. E commerce isn't a game that puts money into your pocket right away. It takes 12 months. One of the things that I tell founders that I invest in is you should go get a job. You're in this game until you're at least $100,000 a month for you to be profitable enough to pay yourself a healthy salary. That means you got to take care of your money problems in other ways. I do have clients that go drive for Uber until their business is profitable enough. Not what they want to do obviously, but it gets them through the grind, period. That a of lot allows them to keep reinvesting in their business. The E commerce game compounds in ways that a lot of other businesses don't. If you do the work for 6, 8, 12 months, you build a million dollar business, which is very rare in almost all other industries. But most people don't want to put in the 12 months. It's 12 months of grind sometimes and you're not paying yourself and your money's tied up in inventory. It sucks. But at the end you've got a seven figure business that is spitting off enough cash flow for you either to go full time or for you to sell the business a seven figure payday. You can do that in almost no other industry except E commerce. So you eat it for 12 months and then you're ahead of almost every other entrepreneur who has ever tried to play this game. But nobody tells you that the first 12 months suck. Once you accept that though, then you can actually commit to doing the work that is required for you to build a seven figure business.
