The Biggest Opportunities Ever For Entrepreneurs

This transcript is from a July 17, 2018 YouTube video (Capitalism.com) of a talk/panel led by Ryan Daniel Moran with other speakers (including Nate). Moran emphasizes that passion matters more than market size: a small base of committed buyers ("100 raving fans, 10 personal contacts, one influencer") can launch a product. Amazon is presented as a proving ground and audience-builder that can lead to retail and international expansion. The talk also covers launch tactics (convert buyers to social/email followers, use PPC, get reviews), warns against manipulative tactics, and celebrates growing entrepreneurial opportunity globally (particularly outside the U.S.). Informal cultural observations and audience interactions appear throughout.

If you're excited about it, you'll put in the work that will overcome a small market. Right. Look, there's 7 billion people on this planet. You only need this many of them.
Yeah.
Not with these facilities.
Kind of feels like being a time traveler because if you just watch, if you just listen to the entrepreneurial mindset here, they're a few years behind because they've only had a few decades of entrepreneurship to like get good. They're just as good as us. They just haven't had the opportunities to open up yet. And they're opening up. So being here is really exciting because it's like, it's like being a time traveler. You guys have no idea what's about to happen. It's about to pop here. And I think Americans are going to be really unpleasantly surprised when they see the hustle and the opportunities that are opening up elsewhere, because the things that we have enjoyed for decades exclusively are now coming to other parts of the world. And that's only going to continue, it's only going to accelerate. So.
I'm just grateful that they think enough of me to bring me over here and speak to these young entrepreneurs. I'm very bullish on this part of the world and I feel like, well, I did something right in a past life or I've just been doing the right things for more than 10 years, placing my chips as an entrepreneur and I feel like I'm just warming up.
We always say, why are you staying just in Amazon? Focus on Amazon. Like something like a button that you can push the button and money comes to you. But actually, but actually there's the whole.
World around the Amazon.
There is the Walmart, there's the Best Buy, there is the ebay as your own Shopify site, or you can go just offline and you can sell anywhere. Because it's not just business in Amazon, as I see, that's business in United States and there is like 300 million people who can buy your product and they go out there because as soon as you're successful in States, you can go to Canada, Australia, Great Britain, so anywhere basically around the whole world. So what are going to be the key advice for you about that? Cases just going out and, you know, spread the brand around the whole States and any kind of channel, sales channel you can use.
Yeah, I think it's dangerous for someone to spread themselves too thin, but I think Amazon can be a fantastic proving grounds for a product to see if it's going to do well elsewhere.
Feedback that it's really Worth.
And it's also a place to build the audience if you play those cards right. For example, if you're taking your buyers or on Amazon and you're getting them to follow you on social media and getting their email address, then you can use that as the platform to launch these other places. You can use that as leverage to get into retail, which is what I did. You can use that as a proving ground to get Walmart to carry you. Because all these other retail brands, they're watching Amazon, they're watching what's doing well. And if you listen to the executive meetings at Walmart, they're saying, what's doing well on Amazon? Just grab that and put it in our store. But we don't think about that as Amazon sellers. We're thinking about what's the next move that Amazon is gonna make. But if you're thinking three to five years down the road about what opportunities are gonna be opening up, the thing that has got to be the focus is, can I take these buyers that I'm getting on Amazon, convert them into raving fans so that they'll buy from these other channels as they open up, build up real fans and customers.
So ask people from previous one who.
Already bought if you have access to them. Sure.
Yes. But their accounts were also blocked because they were also manip.
Because I found them and said, stop breaking terms of service, dude. Like, that's how you're asking me? You're asking me? I broke the rules, I got banned. And so how can I manipulate it again without getting caught? I mean, just build a real business.
I mean, to start a new product, you should have at least to make some sales. You should have at least some reviews. But in the beginning, like, it's impossible. So you should ask someone, is it impossible, I think without no reviews to have sales?
Yes. With zero reviews, with an audience already, you have.
I mean, before.
Yes. Okay, remember What I said? 100 raving fans, 10 personal contacts, one influencer. That's what you need. That's your launch.
And to ask the people who already bought your previous product to buy again a new product and to leave some reviews.
Yes, that will help as well. But you still need 100 raving fans, 10 personal contacts and an influencer. That's your launch. That's how you get sales with no reviews. And then you get those customers to.
Leave reviews and also to use PPC and so on.
Sure. Throw everything at it.
Can I have a photo with you?
Yes.
Okay, thanks. I remember you also. In the last year, you even gave Me one advice about the hammock product. Maybe you remember.
I don't.
You said my photos looks like unreal because they were made in studio. You advised me to make them outdoors.
How'd it work?
Much better. Okay.
All good. Good.
I love that question, but I broke the rules and I got caught. How do I do it again and break the rules but not get caught? Are you about to go up? Yeah. All right, cool. We're gonna follow this guy. He's a smart mother. Liquor.
There's little nuances in, particularly in Ukraine, that are different but that I really appreciate. For example, no one says, have a nice day.
I forgot how many times I hear that. Although, have a nice day. Have a good day. It's like this pleasantry that doesn't really mean anything or, how are you? No one says, how are you?
When you say it. In America, you don't care what the other person says. So it's just. It's extremely direct here in a kind of jarring but also refreshing way. I am not looking forward to going back and saying, hi, how are you? Thanks. Have a nice day. It's just. It's so overly friendly. But at the same time, being friendly here is jarring to them. Like, why are you being like. I said hello to the doorman. He opened the door for me, and I said, thank you. And everybody was, like, uncomfortable that I said thank you to the doorman. And yet I think he appreciated because.
Nobody recognized him. So it's definitely different. And yet.
Having that contrast reveals who you are. You notice things about yourself that you wouldn't get if you weren't thrown into a different culture.
Just about the event. Just the event.
With smile and with energetic.
Yeah.
Natural smile, girl. Without question, this event has the best looking people in the entire Amazon community. If you don't come here, it means you're not. Not attractive, and you'll never amount to anything in life, and that's why you need to be here.
And one more.
Okay. Time. Well, that was perfect. I thought it was perfect. I thought it was. Exactly.
That'll convert.
Nate, you ready? I love how you're coaching me through this. Are you ready? Okay.
And can you say, let's party now?
Let's party now. Yeah.
Only this word.
At the end. No, no, like, at all. You just say, let's party now. Yes. All right, hold on. Let's. Hold on. We'll do another. Let's do. Let's do a full one.
How's it?
Really good. Thanks. Tough crowd.
Yeah, no, they got, like, the Last notes, they were starting here.
Well, it's like I felt like the appl was very.
No, it's good. And they even laughed. I heard it.
I heard them laugh.
I'll. I'll take your feedback before I judge myself. Oh, that's a door. That's cool.
This is the door. The secret door. Make the right.
Oh, who knew this was here?
Yeah, exactly. Right? Really cool.
Got to open every door and see what you find.
And I'm just gonna start walking up the walls and wait for a little bit. No. Whoa.
Oh, this is dope.
What? Wow. I don't know about this.
That guy just screwed me out.
They move.
It's actually really scary.
Yeah.
I still feel like I might.
Wow.
You don't go hungry in Ukraine, that's for sure.
So now I'm the follower of your content. Instagram.
Very great. Tag me. Tag me. Ryan Daniel Moran. What a great picture.
Actually, I have one question.
Sure.
So.
Now I'm the stage of the research. And so all the research criteria are so sore for my product.
Yeah.
And everybody. And e. So they say, do not fall in love with your product.
Are you already in love with it?
Because. Yeah, because actually, I'm a life coach and transformational coach, and I like to make something so with this area.
So let me ask you this. Do you have an audience of people.
That you've coached in Kazakhstan?
Yes.
But it's in Russian. And so the USA market of the Amazon.
No.
So I'm totally new.
Okay. So.
You look worked up, like you love your product so much. Go do it. I give you permission to do it.
Thank you. Because I'm totally stuck on this.
And you would be excited to release this product. Right. You have my permission to go do it.
Thank you so much.
And here's why. Because if you're excited about it, you'll put in the work that will overcome a small market. Right. Look, there's 7 billion people on this planet. You only need this many of them.
Yeah.
So you don't need to have a huge market in order to do damage. If you're excited about it, to go get the 1,000 people who will buy your product, that's enough to do damage.
I'm sure that I can make really something great. And so there are two.
That's way more important in the top of the niche.
So two or three place. So they sell really well.
That's way more than enough. Then that's way better than meeting the right criteria. Right. It's way better. Like, if you're excited about it and you can get other people excited about it and there's enough buyers to be able to support you. Go do it. As long as you can identify three more products that you'll launch sometime. Doesn't need to be now, but at some point as an investor, I would way rather invest in the girl who was excited about what she was doing and had an audience of people who followed her on that topic than the person who's like dude, I found the market and it's in hats. I would way rather invest in the person who's excited about what they're doing. Not just like the market data doesn't tell you anything about what you are going to do as an entrepreneur. But if you're excited about it, it means that you as an entrepreneur are going to put in the work and the hustle and I'll back that versus somebody who's got the right market data.
Yeah, because I'm truly feeling that there is no sense to launch something that in two or three months so everybody can repeat.
And I agree, I totally agree, it doesn't work. I give you permission to go do the product that you want to do.
Like what if I just fall down there? I think you run that risk when you're walking anyway. What if I fall down? No, I mean like if I fall down, that's okay. If I fall down like there they'll be alright. I just hope people get the opportunity that they're sitting on. I just, I just, I don't want people to miss it. I just hope that people will have a glimpse of what's possible for them. And it's a cool reminder to myself that when you say things on the Internet, there are people who listen. So hey, if you're watching this and you're listening, I want to hear from you. Let me know in the comments. Shoot me a message. Because you forget so often that there's people that listen and that people come to an event like this and their lives are impacted. Their lives are changed because they took some sort of action based on what you said. And as a reminder to you, if you have products in the world, there's users at the end of that purchase, there's people using them and it's in their home and they're using them with their family and they're at the kitchen table and there are people behind every purchase and there's people behind every decision. And when you see how your product or your message or you as a person has impacted somebody else, it's a game changer and you realize. You just realize that we're living in very, very special times where something you create or invent can literally have impact across the world. It's a very, very special time. It just makes me more excited. Just makes me want to double down on what we're.
Doing.
