Adding real deadlines to email and paid ads triples conversions compared to campaigns without them. The deadline itself drives sales, so copy can stay simple. One company saved $10,000 in ad spend in a month by letting the deadline do the work.

This tweak in our email campaign beat $10,000 in ad spend last month. Every month there's some excuse to put a deadline on something. So that can be because it's the end of the month. It could because a discount is going away, it's because a holiday is happening. Every month we find some reason to have a deadline for something. Nothing creates conversions like a deadline. So I see a lot of entrepreneurs who are saying sending one off emails to their list and hoping that it creates a lift in sales. Almost never works that way. Instead, what we do is we pick a deadline and we promote something through that deadline. And then the copy doesn't need to be that good. The email subject line doesn't need to out convert everything else. It's actually about the deadline. The deadline is what creates all of the conversions. So instead of spending more on ads, we put deadlines into our marketing, which makes all of our paid campaigns work better. And as a result, our email campaign campaigns tend to be our highest profit channel because we just put deadlines into all of our marketing. They've got to be real deadlines. But by manufacturing campaigns in that way, with a beginning and an end, we often get three times the conversions than if we were to just pull a marketing campaign out of our hat.
