Ryan Daniel Moran reflects that treating content creation like direct product marketing reduces quality and connection. He argues content should be created for a specific person/audience (e.g., entrepreneurs, fitness-focused dads) rather than for selling a product, because creating for a person leads to better reach and genuine connection.

One of my biggest mistakes is trying to create my content like a business. Every time I go into a mode of creating a piece of content with the intention of making a sale or hoping that I get in front of the people who could be customers, my content sucks. I've seen this true with e commerce businesses too. When you're creating content because you're hoping to get people interested in a product, that doesn't usually connect with the people that want to buy that product. But when you're just creating content for a person, whether it be me, me creating for entrepreneurs, or as a supplement seller, it's to dads who are on a fitness journey. When we create for the product, our content suffers and people read right through that. But when you create for a person, you get reach and you connect with other people.
