Why Working Really Hard Doesn't Work

You may have heard it said that you are the product of the things that you do consistently rather than the things you do once or twice. And that is somewhat true, but that is an incomplete idea. Tony Robbins has kind of popularized that phrase, but it's missing an important element. And I want to tell you a quick story. I used to, I actually worked out consistently three, four days a week for about six years. And I thought I was working really hard, doing a good thing. And I went in for a SC once to find out what my body fat and muscle percentages were and it told me I had almost 22% body fat. Now this is me working out three, four days a week, hard. I'm just coming out of the gym right now. You can see I'm sweaty and gross right now. But what happened is that I got a coach and in the last five months I've made more progress than I made in the previous six years. I have gone from 21% body fat to between 10 and 12 added muscle. I'm in the best shape of my life. And the reason for that is because for six years I was following a really bad strategy. So I might have been working really hard, but I was following a bad strategy. And the people that I was working out with weren't holding me to a different standard. So you can do things consistently, you can work really, really hard. But if the strategy that you're following is a flawed one, that makes a considerable difference. That is everything. If you work consistently at a bad strategy, you get really bad results. And also who you are around all of the time sets the standard through which you will determine what is your peak level of performance in business, in your relationships, in your fitness, in all areas of your life. So if you want better results, yes, you are the product of what you do, consistency, the habits that you generate, but the strategy that you follow and who you are around make even a greater difference because they determine what habits.
You will practice on a daily basis. Now, if you need the opportunity to uplevel your strategies, if you need to up level the people that you're surrounding yourself with, one of the ways that you can do that is by attending and listening and learning from people who are 10 years ahead of you getting the results that you want. It's one thing to listen to strategies in theory, it's another to go to the source, go to the mentor, go to the people who have have exceeded where you are on the current trajectory, download their strategies and implement them into your life, business, or wherever you want to get results.
