Group we have today, this might be the handsomest group we've had yet. My space ears are what are really carrying the weight that today. That and Brian Krieger.
And his long sleeve shirt and full head of hair. He's one handsome dude. Alright guys, so the little house cleaning item. There's going to be one more hangout, one more hangout before the live event. There will not be a meeting next weekend, there will be a meeting the following weekend and that will be the last hangout before we all literally hang out in person. So at that point we'll obviously be getting together. There's been some confusion over the meeting room and dinner. I'm working on it. This is going to surprise you, but it's actually somewhat difficult to accommodate 100 people at a dinner and in a room in the hotel that we're staying in. So we're running into some problems, but we're on top of it. And I'll let you know all the details as soon as I have them. This is the longest it's ever taken to be able to take you all out to dinner. But I'm doing what I can. So again, at this point I feel like I'm repeating a broken record. But you guys have been through all the training, you've done, all the implementation that you can do, hopefully. And so this is the part where we're just testing and tweaking and coming up with strategies for where you are in the next level. So I don't have anything to blow your mind with except. But I have plenty to blow your mind with if you want to come in, in person or I'm working on some curriculum to take people at the 10 to 25,000amonth level to the 50, $100,000 a month level. And that curriculum is, is coming together nicely. There's five spots open for the March 8th, 9th and 10th. March 2nd and 3rd is completely sold out if you want to still grab a spot in there. There are some spots available on March 8th, 9th and 10th. Just shoot me a message or shoot me an email if that's something that you want to be a participant in. So, so I want to hear from those of you who have launched businesses in the last couple of weeks because this is the part where growth starts to happen and we need to kind of massage what's going on to keep that growth going. So would anybody like to share the results of a launch, the results of the week after a launch? I'd be very interested to hear that. And then we can also kind of test them, tweak and massage from where you're going from there.
Katherine, since the camera's on you, has your business launched?
Oh, it launched since September and now. Crazy. I'm selling 125 units a day.
That's fantastic.
Yes. And my conversion rates always stay at 60.
At 16 or 6 060. Let's talk about that. Kathryn. So tell us a little bit about your high conversion rate and why you think that's the case.
Simply because I'm really to put a batch which is unique. No one have this feature and I sell and I put a batch on it and people can really distinguish myself from others so I can steal the market share pretty quickly.
So it's the actual product itself you think?
Sorry, you think it's the actual product itself that is the reason for your high conversion rate?
Yes, the feature that no one else can offer and it's really helpful. So even I am selling a higher price than anyone else. So now I'm in the number three spot in my keyword, my primary keyword. And then.
After the last week we meeting, I decided to go for the second keyword and do some promotion. So I'm blasted when I'm ready. So I'm looking for even to increase my sales at that level.
Congratulations on being that high. The big volume for you is going to come when you release that second product. Have you started sourcing that second product yet?
Oh yes. I was a bit behind in sourcing and I am asking my China sourcing team to help me and.
I will visit the factory next week to the factory that I'm going to source because it's a big factory. Sometimes they don't even talk to you if your MOQ is not high enough. Even I met them in the Canton fair. So yeah, even myself I need to visit directly to the factories to order to get my products launched.
Cool. That's your next step. That's going to be where your business really starts to grow. Is that second or third product?
Yes, and even I make that sales. But a lot of money put into buying the inventory because it's suddenly growing up a lot. So I have to buy a lot of inventory because China is Chinese New Year holiday as everyone knows and my factory was so busy I have to buy 4 months inventory in January so that I can cover 4 month sales period. So it eats up all my cash flow. But still it's good news that it's still running high.
What was the trend like for you your first couple months? What were you selling and Then where was the. Where did it take off like a rocket ship where you started selling 100 plus units a day.
I was stuck for the very first month, don't know handily Facebook. And it failed and I don't know how to deal with it. And then some other mastermind friends showed me how to do the Facebook marketing. I did twice and then I tweaked it and it's successful and it jumped from page eight to page two or three. And then afterwards I do songblast. The song blast would come even after and I've done twice songblast. And then the songblast effect was come later, roughly about five to seven days. And then it jumped up really fast when I really at the level of page one number four, the cells were 80. And then last week my cells jumped to the spot of number three. So the sales was increased by 60, 50%. So the number three spot for me, really, it's another milestone for me.
So when you got onto page one, that's when really things started to take off as far as sales per day.
Yeah. When I'm in page one, my sales were roughly 60, 70. Yes. And I keep promoting after I was in the page one. I have lost. I don't have infantry during the Thanksgiving Day. So I went, I got back my infantry right after early December. Then it only took me four days. Then I got back to where I am, which is supposed to be 70 units per day.
During the Christmas, the sales quite good. But even better. My sales is even better after the Christmas.
Congratulations. That's really exciting.
Thank you.
Cool. You get a big high five at the tribe dinner in a couple weeks. You are coming to Vegas, are you not?
Yes, I am. Yes.
That's very exciting. Catherine has the longest trip out of anybody to hang out with us in Vegas and she makes it. So that's exciting. Again, congratulations. That's huge. When was Your first over 100 unit per day?
When it's right after.
January. Yes.
It's fresh, it's brand new. It just happened in the last few weeks.
Yes. The end of December was quite. After no one buys anything. But in January.
3, dental sales jump right off to the new year holiday. Suddenly it's jumped number three spot. Yes.
That's great.
Well, thank you for sharing. We will celebrate in a couple of weeks in person. We might have Catherine buy dinner since she's the one selling 125 units a day.
Yes. Buy drinks.
Drinks. Okay. There we go. Yes.
It's my big breakthrough actually. Yes.
At the Venetian though, you need to be at your levels to afford dinner.
You need to be at what, Brian?
Your levels, Ryan. To afford dinner.
Ah yeah. At the Venetian. It's like have a pork chop for $400.
Alright, move on to somebody else. Who else has had a milestone in the last week or launched a product or starting to grow that we can kind of work in tweaking so that you can continue growing?
I'll share.
Go ahead. Hey Melanie.
Hi Melanie.
Hi guys.
First time on the call here in person. I've launched two products and two different niches so just one is much more successful than the other. So I think product selection obviously is a factor. I'll talk about the good one first. I'm averaging 10 sales a day. I launched mid December so it hasn't even been a month. 10 sales a day. I was doing 40 plus units a day just before Christmas so it was kind of insane because that was literally five days after I launched. So back to reality. But 10 sales a day. Still happy about that?
I have over 50 reviews now, so I've been pretty aggressive with follow ups. I have a two email sequence for the follow up asking for reviews. I was asking for seller feedback but people were getting confused so I just dropped asking for that at all. So right now I'm just asking for product reviews. My number one competitor has 150ish reviews so I should be able to overtake that hopefully fairly soon.
I'm going to be rolling out some complimentary products in the next little while. So what I'm doing right now is this. Actually yesterday I ran a Facebook giveaway contest and that's kind of going crazy right now. I emailed 200 bloggers in my space and they're posting that contest on their blogs. So Facebook likes and email addresses which is the email addresses are really important to me for obviously for my next my second and third product in that niche and I'm testing Reddit ads in a couple days, trying that in my subreddit category to see how that goes. Just to see what kind of.
Yeah, I'll be interested in your analysis of your Reddit ads. We didn't have much success in them but we didn't try it for very long. So I'll be interested to hear your feedback on that.
Yeah, I'll definitely update. And my Amazon pay per click is 23% average cost of sales so I'm putting that at high dollar amount but I won't spend that much so it must not have enough traffic. And I'm working on packaging and improving My packaging.
All right, so let's start at Amazon Ads. What are you bidding, and what is your budget per day? Because we have some theories about this.
I think my budget's. I think I have it like $100 a day, and it can't spend over $30 a day.
And what's your bid?
Right now I think it's at $3 a click, but I've spent no more than $1.20.
Cool. So.
See what happens when you adjust your daily budget, because if you have a higher budget, Amazon will try to find other places to use that budget and they'll advertise wider on your behalf, and it actually somehow drives down your cost per click, too.
Okay, so we'll add other words.
Well, if you're doing it manually, then you're right. You're limited to a certain amount of capacity. If you're allowing them to do the advertising for you, they will try to find new places to fill up that budget.
Yeah, I tried both and my manual was like 78% average cost per sale. So I went with automated and expanded it a bit. But, yeah, I'll expand it more and see what that turns into.
Cool. Now, let's talk about your. You said you have two products, and. And right now you're selling about 10 per day.
That'll grow after the Christmas rush because there's always a dip right after Christmas if you're in the type of market that has a Christmas rush. Let me ask you, what is the percentage between the two products?
What's the percentage of people buying product one versus product number two?
So that 10 sales a day is just product one. Product two is averaging five to seven sales a day. Now, I've done three zonblasts, which have been great, fairly competitive market. So it's taken me longer to get there. My sales are pretty good when I can get on the first page, but obviously I drop to page 2 and 3 and 4 and so on if I don't keep kind of promoting that particular product.
Okay, so let's explore this a little bit. This product number two a little bit. How many reviews do you have on that and what do the competition?
Almost 60 reviews. And the top three are anywhere from 1,000 reviews to 400 reviews.
All right, cool. So obviously, you know, that's why your conversion and your sales are going to be less on that. What about pricing? Are you doing anything to try and spike sales throughout the long term here?
Yeah, I did have a premium price. And then what I've done is I've dropped That significantly still very profitable.
And I have been doing some price drops like I'll do like an kind of like a overnight price drop when I think there's not that many people on. So that I don't know. So that I have sales, but not too many sales, I guess. So I've done some price drops there where I'm still kind of at a break even. I'm good with break even for a long time. This product in its first month will be break even or probably in the red, which is fine.
Okay, so there's two ways we could take this conversation. We could put all our emphasis on product number two, or scratch that, we could put all our emphasis on product number one, which if I was.
On stage telling people what they should do, I would tell them go product number one, then product number two, then down the line. Or we can put some emphasis on product number two since it looks like there's a lot of volume and it needs a lot of help. Where would you like to take this conversation?
I want to go where you would go.
Cool. So let's focus on product number one. Do you have an idea? Actually, let me just ask you straight up. What is the BSR of the number one person in your space.
About?
For my category, like my category, about 500.
Okay. And what's yours right now?
1,3000.
Okay. Alright. So this product is going to max out at 40ish units a day or so?
Yeah, I think so. I think number one is at about 60 or 70, but their price is a little lower than mine, so I don't know if that's a driver or not.
Okay, got it. So what do you think that we can do in the next week or two in order to get people to choose you over your competition, even though you're still building up your reviews?
I think probably a price drop, which would still leave me with lots of profit there. I think that would drive sales because I'm 50% more expensive than them, essentially.
50% more expensive. Okay. That's going to make a difference. Now you can get by with that if you've got 400 reviews and they've got 150. But it's hard to get by with a 50% increase if your views aren't going to beat theirs. So if their reviews are better than yours, you're going to have a hard time charging more money. But if you've got more reviews than theirs, then you could charge more money.
The product, it's a better product, it looks better, it's all of that but also, sorry, correction. So they have two products. They have a product that's 50% less than mine and then they have a higher end product that is at the same price as mine. Sorry, I wasn't clear there.
Are they on the same listing?
No, separate listings. But they're like they'll rank whatever 1 and 2 or 1 and 3 and I'll come in. I'm actually coming in at number five for one of my main keywords right now.
So which one has The BSR of 500?
The cheaper one.
The cheaper one does. That's interesting. What is the BSR of the more expensive one?
I didn't expect all these questions. I feel like I have to go do my research right now.
Well, this is how we figure out how we're going to win is by knowing what our competition is doing and knowing how we can differentiate ourselves from that competition in order to beat them. So in order to really know how we're going to win, we have to be really clear on where there are opportunities here. So when I'm asking these questions, what I'm looking for is the piece that allows you to differentiate yourself and steal the sales from your competitors and bring them to you instead. And in order to know that, we've got to look at. Alright, when I ask you this question, I'm thinking should you be comparing yourself to the more expensive product or to the cheaper product? If you tell me right now that the BSR of the more expensive product is 8,000, I'm going to say, okay, well then we're already beating him, so we need to turn our attention to the lower priced product because that's where the volume is. But if you come back and you tell me the more expensive product has a BSR of 1000 and your 3000, then we can compare ourselves to the more expensive one. Leave lots of profit margin on there and still increase your sales.
I think that they're very. I don't have it in front of me, but I think that they're very close in dsr. Like they're not far off. Even if I do any keyword searches, they come up 1 and 2 or 2 and 3.
Interesting. So what is the difference between their expensive version and their cheap version?
The cheap version looks cheap, the bag that it comes in is cheap, and the other one looks more high quality. But I think mine looks even more high quality than their highest quality one.
Interesting. So I think you should only be comparing yourself to the more expensive version and not worry about the cheaper version. Your emphasis right now is really reviews. If they've got 150 reviews, you've got 50 of them. You, your sales are going to go up incrementally as you get more and more reviews, assuming that they're just as good, if not better than that other person's reviews.
Yeah.
And I think the quality of our products is better as well.
Okay, cool. Now is that clear in your listing?
Well, most people look at your listing and say, this is a better product than my competitor.
Not necessarily. I think I definitely have room for improvement on my listing especially.
Okay. So the reason I ask that question is because if it's really clear that your product is just as good as theirs, I would not suggest dropping your price. I would only recommend you put your emphasis on your reviews. If, however, it's not a clear difference between you and the other person, I'd make your price a dollar cheaper than theirs because that is what is going to bring the volume towards you for you to rank higher, get more reviews, have enough volume to split test.
But if you could focus on making your product images or your copy better than your competitors, then you could leave your price the same and people will still choose you over the competition.
Okay, yeah, we dropped. We did the pure white background. We just had done like our own photo shoot, our own little lightbox, but couldn't get the pure white. But once we did them pure white, we noticed even a small bump just with that.
Great, great. So does all of my crazy laboratory analysis going on in here make sense for why I'm or the advice that I'm giving you?
Yes, absolutely. And I'm going to go do more research on all the DSRs because I have it somewhere, but I wasn't ready for them.
Cool.
Let's talk about product number two, just briefly. Sure. Tell me again, is your price at break even or are you positive on that?
Right now I think I'm about $400 positive. How should I spend it?
How should you spend it? Probably on blast and ppc.
Okay.
Probably on doing another blast and doing.
So let me ask you quickly about PPC. So I'm at about 78% average cost of sale on that. So it's very high. So I'm not at a break even with that. So what are people doing with their clicks? Because I can see I pay whatever, 116 for a click. Should I be bidding $1 to take the third spot on the ads to save money or is that not worth the bother?
I say that's a conversion issue, not a pricing issue. So if you're at 78%, then you're not converting high enough in order to bring in those sales in order.
For it to make sense for you. It's probably because of your number of reviews, because people are saying that somebody else has more reviews for less money, so they're going with that person instead of you. Okay, now is that on product one or two?
Sorry, what's that?
The 78%. Is that across the board?
No, this is product number two and they're on different brands and different.
Yeah, okay. Oh, so you have two different businesses you're building right now?
Yeah, they're not related.
Okay, okay, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it.
All right, cool. So you're clear on what you need to do for product number one. My advice is a little bit skewed now that I know there are different businesses for product number two. You're an aggressive market. You just need to keep blasting that until you're on page one. That's the short answer for that one.
Got it.
Thanks, Melanie. Thanks for hanging out with us.
Yeah, no problem. I'll see you in February and March.
Cool. Awesome. Sounds good.
I want to call out Kurt because I'm just curious and I want to know what happened in the last week.
So like five minutes after the call, I put in another order because why not? So that is in the hands of UPS right now. I'm going to ship it tomorrow. It took about five days to get to Amazon last time, so I should have everything in in about seven business days, I would assume. And that leaves me with plenty of time to not sell out. I wasn't really going to say too much because I don't really have anything. It's just I've ordered and I actually started a new Facebook campaign for a survey like I did with my other launch for my second product because I've got that sort of picked out and ready to go as soon as the money comes in from.
I'm selling one of my websites so that I can pump that into this business.
And that's going well. I've got like 80 people emails already in like two days from Facebook ads in a survey. So that's good. But I will say I made a mistake and I shall share that mistake trying to get a good three star review bumped up so that it always shows as my best worst review. I've only got one three star review and there's nothing lower than that. So it's a good one. So I was going to pump it up there while.
I overlooked the Fact that none of my other reviews have too many. Yes, this was helpfuls. And so using the alliance tool in asm. Pardon me, I'm getting sick here. I bumped that up and it's now like the first review that's showing up, which is I think hurting my conversion rate because I've been selling fewer than I have been. So I strongly recommend doing math before. Before you use something like that and not being an idiot because now I've had to go and put in a few more jobs to bump up like four or five more reviews to get it up there. So that was a huge fail. And I certainly think I've seen drop off because of that.
That's funny.
Lesson learned. But yeah, everything's fine otherwise. I'm making some good sales from my affiliate site to the listing.
You're not out of stock, are you? No, I'm not. Okay. So has your volume picked up over last week?
Over last week? How many days has it been?
Yeah, I guess so. I was doing like, I did another small giveaway, like I said last week and it only did like 16 or something like that. But then I put it up on my affiliate site like two days after that. And so since then I've had like days of, let's see, 10 days now of 11, 11, 13, 22, 14, 20, 10, 14, 10. So it certainly picked up from the 4 and 5 that I had before I put it on my affiliate site, I think. Yeah. Last call, I had my first 11 day and I was going, ooh, is this sustainable? But I did 22 units like five days ago, so it's pretty good.
Great. So this is exactly the pattern you're going to see. You'll start at 10 and then you start to see trickles up, spikes and it goes up like the stock market. So you're right where you need to be. I just want to show, I don't know if you're going to be able to see this.
See if I can share this without revealing too much.
Stand by, everybody. This is going to be worth it if it works.
Okay, I can't show what I want to show, but I'll just read. I'll read you all the numbers. Okay. So yesterday one of my businesses had 287 sales. The same day last week it was 325 sales. Same day last year, 12 units. And we were excited as hell for those 12 units. So if you are 12 units in or having spikes of 22, you are right on target to where you need to be. So good work.
Thank You. Is it cool? Is anybody on the call not comfortable with me calling them out? Because there's a few of you that I want to hear updates from.
Cool. I want to hear from Joe. Joe, give me the update of what's going on.
I knew you'd call me.
Well, I'm still. We still don't have inventory yet that's being production run next week and it's domestic so it shouldn't take too long to actually get to Amazon.
In the meanwhile.
I actually was involved in. I sort of snuck in into this ASM VIP type deal. I just asked and they said okay, you can come in too. Where they will really scrutinize my sales copy and help me write it because I think it's really important. The other competitors, their sales copy sucks. So I think that's where I can have a big impact on that.
I also need to ramp up the.
Facebook kind of pre marketing work that I should be doing.
Tell me about the inventory. What has taken so long because it's a product we've talked about privately. Correct. What has taken so long with those manufacturers? Was it a supply problem? Was it finding the supplier? Because I know there's a problem there at first. What was the issue there?
The first issue was finding the supplier which could differentiate. I wanted, didn't want to release the same thing everyone else has because they're easily comparable. The second thing is this is actually a heavily regulated space. I had to register this product. I had to get it through a legal review, a lot of things. Because you can get in big trouble if you, you don't do all that.
Go ahead. This applies to you. That was going to be my question.
Okay, yeah, they did help me do that and it took a while and there were several go arounds with changes they weren't comfortable with. So they reviewed not only the label and the claims, but they also wanted to see how I was marketing it because they can get in trouble too.
Interesting. Okay, now when you are going for something custom, were you having them create something from scratch or were you just going to somebody who could do a better job than all the other competitors?
I was going with someone who could do who already had.
Something available that was different than what I saw on Amazon. Not sure about all the competitors, but what I saw on Amazon and did.
That play a factor into why it was so scratch? If you had gone with one of the other options for you, would that have made it easier to get through kind of the legal investigation, if you will?
I feel it probably would not. Have had an impact, actually. I think some of the other suppliers were less experienced. This is one of the more experienced suppliers and probably wouldn't have guided me as much, which could have created risks that I was unaware of.
So I actually am kind of glad I went with the experts in this. They did have a number of different formulations and whatnot I could have gone with, but I chose one that wasn't already on Amazon.
Got it. Okay, cool, cool. Is there anything that we can help with as far as preparing.
Your progress so that day one you can start making sales?
Well, I'm going to do a zone blast, obviously.
Is there any specific strategy around here that I should be following in terms of pre marketing? There's a lot of different options and I'm not sure what might be most effective here.
Yeah, there's a bunch of different options. The important thing is that you're building up a customer list that you can market to over the long term. For somebody like you, who's basically starting from ground zero, which is it's a new industry, you don't have a list, you're going into a brand new starting with one product. The original Facebook page strategy of building up a list of followers does work if it's something you want to follow. That's another question. But it's going to be the easiest and the lowest barrier to entry to having that list of people who you have an audience that you can market to versus starting a blog. And having a list is going to take a lot longer. The email opt ins are going to be a lot more expensive. So for you, the Facebook strategy is probably the best option if that's an option that you want to roll with.
It could be, but what about. I mean, I heard several people mention surveys that they did. What would something like that look like.
That would look like. Actually, Kurt, could you take yourself off mute for a second? Because I want you to tell me if this is a strategy you're following with what you're doing. What I imagine people are doing is that they are taking traffic on Facebook or some other source, sending it to a surveymonkey survey that basically pre qualifies them for something, sends them to a thank you page to get them on a list somehow. Because a surveymonkey may not be connected to the list. Kurt, I know you've got your own list you're working with that you might just be paring down the data. But tell me a little bit about what you're doing with the actual Facebook traffic.
Okay, so the Facebook traffic goes to my website which has an embedded survey monkey survey on it.
It's basically a three question survey. And the third question is, would you like us to contact you with a whatever coupon for our product when we launch? And if they put their email in there.
Then I just export that data and put it in mailchimp so they can get on the list like that. And of course I was talking to Jim about this the other day. You have to be sort of aware or willing to accept the risks depending on how you're going to do it in terms of single double opt in or sort of implied opt in for mailchimp list. So just be sure that you're either comfortable with the risk of not having them opt in other than implied through wanting to be contacted you through this survey that they've put their email into or when they sign up to your list they get an email sending them to a subscribe page saying just so you know, you've got to subscribe to this list. So that's just be aware of that. But yeah, they go to the survey, they fill out the two questions about my product and they put their email in and I import that into a mailchimp list.
Okay, so Joe, what he's doing is he's sending Facebook traffic to a website, having them fill out a survey. If they say yes, I want to be contacted about this, he imports them into his mail server which he then will email to when product two is live.
What exactly are you asking that's interesting to the customer?
The survey I'm using actually has helped me because what I'm doing there is just thousands of options for the flavor or scent, if you will. I had no idea what people wanted. I think because Ryan said that you guys did with your yoga company a survey and figured out what color people wanted and all the rest of.
Was.
Helpful because I'm asking them first of all, do they want it scented or do they want the unscented natural version? Well, I found out that people want majority want scented. So I thought okay, great, what kind of scent do you want? And I gave them four options or another box. And from that I chose the one with like 70% of the people saying they wanted it. And that's now my scent. So it was actually very handy for market research and helps to build a list so you can, if you don't like, if you've already got your product, you can pretend you're launching another product or think you know what would make this product better and just something product related so that you get a little bit of feedback in the survey. People feel like they're actually doing a legitimate survey to help you and then you collect their emails. So I think it's helpful to do something such that people feel like they're doing something and not just being funneled onto a list.
If you were going to do it for a prelaunch product, would you do something around.
Somehow giving them a coupon code or discount code when they fill out the survey?
Yeah, that's my third question. So the third question is, would you enter your email basically, if you would like to receive a coupon for X amount of dollars or to get our product for X amount of dollars when we launch as a thank you, basically.
I love it when my job comes down to just sitting down and watching tribe members help each other out. That's what makes this group special, is that everybody helps each other out. So thank you for that. I was sitting here thinking of sarcastic. There's so many.
Understandably so. People.
Are protective of the markets that they're in. So I was sitting here thinking, what sarcastic example can we use.
For Joe? And from now on, Joe, we're going to tell people that you're in the ground up animal cologne market.
So when we're using you as an example on live hangouts, we're just going to tell people that you sell ground up animal cologne. And that's why it's so under legal scrutiny, is because.
Certain animals are protected. You can't ground them up and make cologne out of of it. And just so you know, you're in the same market as Kurt, who's doing a survey for his market to find out what scent would be most appealing to his audience. So you guys should probably continue to compare notes.
Great market leading the way.
Great market. By the way, guys, I never said this publicly, but Joe and I have worked privately.
Ground up baby colognes is an emerging market, but ground up animal colognes is a huge market market on it. Sex Panther, of course, is the most popular one. It's got bits of real panthers, so you know, it's good.
Go ahead, Joseph, since you've already gone through this. Did you. When you, when driving traffic to your Facebook page, do you drive it directly to your community or directly to the survey?
I drive it directly to the community because my goal is to build up the actual likes and audience of that. I would then make a post about a survey. That would be my strategy. And we're actually doing this right now, not with a survey, but with building up an audience for One of my businesses, we are indeed doing this process of driving traffic to the Facebook page in order to get likes and then we'll send them over to a survey later if that's a strategy you want to implore. I don't like spending money if I'm not getting customer data that I can use long term. So I'm sending them straight to the Facebook page for the like, and then I'll worry about where I want them to go from there.
Cool.
And I send them right to the survey. So I'm not doing it right.
Apparently you can do it however you want.
Just throw that out there.
But you have a Facebook community also, right, Kurt?
Yes. It's got like 600 likes now. And that's all. Well, other than about 100 that I just tested for a like campaign. They're all just like, naturally from the ad. So people click on the group and like it because it's a relevant and related group.
I want to answer a question that is on the chat box, and that is about oversized inventory. Just so you know, I have the exact same issues as you're talking about in the chat box about the limitation. And you're right. You need to sell. You get 500 units on an oversized item for a new business, you get 8%. You have to sell 8% of inventory every week for nine weeks, and then you can get an increase in inventory amount. There is no other way to put this except this is a bitch.
It is not a fun process because you can't do blasts because you run out of inventory too fast to get your inventory raised. You can't do aggressive giveaways because you run out of inventory too much. This is what happened with us in yoga. You have to average sales throughout your process in order to get the inventory released. Here is the workaround. Here is the way that you solve this problem. You need to order more inventory as soon as possible and get your freight forwarder to hold it for you or to put it in a warehouse somewhere and pay the fee to have it stored in the warehouse. This way you can have it shipped to Amazon or even drip to Amazon throughout that nine weeks that you never run out of inventory and you keep it long enough to have that expanded. I learned this the hard way where we thought that if we sold out quickly, over time it would average 8% and Amazon would say, well, these guys ran out quickly, we can increase their inventory limit. Didn't happen. You have to have sales every week for nine weeks in order to clear that threshold. So don't make the same mistake I did. If you're going to stick with this as your primary product, which is fine, get a warehouse or get your freight forwarder to hold onto that inventory so that you can ship more inventory to Amazon and place that order immediately. If you only ordered 500, your first, go and order the other 500 or 1000 or however you want to have as soon as possible so you can have some in reserve that you can have shipped to Amazon. What you'll have to do is when you get down to like a hundred units, you'll have to go to your freight forwarder and say, send 400 more product to Amazon, because you can't even have product in shipment.
For example, for Amazon, for our yoga mats, we had 500 in stock. When we were down to 300 or whatever it was, we wanted to place the order for 500 more, but we couldn't even have them on a boat somewhere and on their way to Amazon until we were completely out of stock. So we had to do some finagling there in order to just make it possible for us to have product shipped. Don't make the same mistake I did. Get it shipped and go to a warehouse and then when you're low, have the warehouse feed Amazon with the inventory. If you have any questions about that, put that in the chat box. Looks like you're good. You said purchase perfect, but you've got to do that for the oversized inventory or you will be pulling your hair out. There's a reason why the people who were here who were buying Sean and my business, Zenactive, they were in town this weekend and they asked us, you've got one business doing a quarter million dollars a month. You've got one business starting to flirt with the 50k a month level. And you've got this other business, Inactive, which does 20 grand and has been at 20 grand for quite a while. What is the reason why you haven't had as much success in yoga as you have in your other businesses? This is why. Because we have two months of product sitting on a boat somewhere and that's lost. And that happens. That happened three times where we run out of inventory. We have to wait two months of no inventory to get product in. It's a serious problem if you cannot overcome it. We finally overcame it once it was too late. So please don't make the same mistake I did. Do what I just outlined for you.
Ryan. Do you mind if I just share another quick thought there, please? Rather than a warehouse or your freight forwarder, another low Budget way to do it is just get a storage unit close to your house. That's what I did. I've got a 10 foot by 25 foot storage unit. It's got a loading dock there. The truck drops it off, Amazon comes in and picks it up. So I do it myself rather than the expense of a warehouse.
Interesting. That sounds like details. So that would blow my brains out, but some people aren't good with those. Brian, while you're off mute, why don't you give us an update on your.
Biz, good and bad. I hit a magic number which is the income replacement number, which is over 50 units a day.
Congratulations.
I got a nice solid business and I was sharing with Kathryn before you joined that you nonchalantly said to me nine months ago, maybe you ought to try to sell on Amazon. Here I am now, but it's going well. I spent the Christmas holidays looking at my next products and I've selected five to do in batch, all from my same supplier, all in the same category. So it's just a matter of packaging, branding, taking images, write and copy, etc. So targeting to launch those in the next couple months. All that's going well. I posted in the Tribe about my four roles, personnel, people, roles within an Amazon company. One of them is a store manager. I had a VA doing that for me. So a little bit on the negative, I had to fire him a week or so ago. I just had some challenges that couldn't work out so said bye bye.
But a shout out if anybody in the tribe has a couple extra hours and needs a little bit of cash, message me. No, I'm excited. I think it's great. Looking forward to the live event again. Should be a very interesting dinner. Looking forward to masterminding with you in early March at your event in Austin. I've never been to Austin and now I'm going to be there twice. Within a month.
I'll be in the throes of getting ready to launch five new products so I'll have lots to talk about.
What's the second trip to Austin?
That's your mastermind. The first one is Danny's mastermind.
Okay, cool. I'll probably see you there then too. Cool. What is the percentage breakdown for your products? You've got two that are live and do sales regularly correct.
Four.
Okay. What's the breakdown on those three fifths.
Of the sales is in the number one product and the other three Split it about evenly.
Is your business like mine where you have one product that just kind of grows Very steadily. And finally you have enough market share to kind of capture to hold onto that and then the others slowly will catch up to that. Or do you feel like it's more of a market issue of how many products can actually be sold in those spaces?
It's definitely not the last. The space. I'm. There's gobs of competitors, there's gobs of different products.
The main product took off. I was looking at my data. It's right around the time I hit 200 reviews. I'm now at 380 some.
I've done three zonblasts on that particular product, 250 units each. And the last one I did in mid December, right in the holidays, day after, two days after Christmas, the thing just has taken off. I've doubled my trailing 30 units per day from now until back at Thanksgiving. So it's reviews, reviews, reviews, reviews. I haven't tweaked the title, I haven't tweaked the images. The conversion rate is right around 15%. I think if I went in and started tweaking a couple things, I might be able to bump that up a little bit, which would be great.
I'm spending right around $1,200 a month on pay per click.
Cool. Great. So you're right where you need to be. It sounds like in your market still. In my market, even though I'm about a year ahead of of most people as far as timing goes, I still have the same exact process of if I launch a new product.
Its market share takes about six months or so to really be viable. So we'll launch a product knowing that it's going to trudge around for a while and then in six months it's going to take off. It sounds like you're in a similar market where you're going to have those ones who are blazing the trail and then. Yes, exactly that. That your other products are going to continually grab more market share. Do you remember the date that you took your first sale?
First real sales were May. May 1st.
Okay, six months.
Yeah.
All right, cool. So we started. I think you're probably following almost the exact same trajectory as we did, except it was right around the six month point that things really started to take off. So it sounds like you're on almost the exact same trajectory.
Well, I'm at 30k a month plus now.
Congratulations.
Cool. We've got time for one more and I'll just take whoever would like.
Can I jump in?
You are on top of it, Jim.
Oh, I wanted to get in I know you're not coming back for two weeks.
Yes. How can we help?
Well, I posted in the community earlier this week that I was doing really well. I launched December 5th. I think I did a Zomblast. My first real sale didn't come until December 9th and then I did pretty well with the pre Christmas sales and then I started tweaking my listing and I think that was a mistake because my conversion rate went from between 15 and 25% to this past week. It like really plummeted down to less than 5% and I didn't really make any changes except I made changes to my title, changes to my description, things I thought I was doing better on. And then yesterday tweaked it again and went back to Amazon or to ASM the video on doing your title and basically redid the whole thing. And then I got nine sales yesterday.
But anyway, I've been struggling with that because this week it just was, you know, I was going from averaging four to six sales a day to, you know, five, four, three, two. It's just like a downward trajectory. So it was nice yesterday.
But a couple things. First of all, were you factoring Christmas and your Zonblast into your original conversion rate?
No, I didn't, I didn't count those numbers at all. Well, I didn't count the Zomblast in those numbers.
Okay.
I'm just talking my daily numbers.
That's what were you counting? Christmas?
Yes, it's. The whole month has been averaged.
Okay, cool. So you're obviously, whoa, you're, you're obviously going to have a higher conversion rate before Christmas, assuming you have a product that is a Christmas rush, which it sounds like you did. So if that's the case, that data is kind of wash. The other thing is it sounds like you are looking at day to day data which is going to drive you mad very quickly. The only way you can really measure measurable results is at least a week to week basis.
For example.
I could have a hundred unit difference on a day to day on my primary businesses. So I could one day sell 300 and the next day sell 400 and nothing has changed. If we sat there and were trying to figure out which title on a day to day basis was creating the sales, that data would be completely null and void because there could be a hundred unit bump here and there without any change. So for you, you're going to drive yourself absolutely epic mad if you're trying to make all these changes on a day to day basis in order to Get a difference in two sales. That's not significant data. So you need to wait at least a week. It's even going to be more volatile for you because you're just starting. So if you've only got 25 reviews, getting those five extra really good reviews could actually be the thing that's making the difference instead of the title change. The way you're doing it is not going to give you accurate data at all. You've got to go much longer. If you're confident with the copy you have now, I would stick with it and watch it for the next two weeks. And then if you want to replace the title with the one that was working back in Christmas, then you'll have you in a spot where you can say, okay, this is working and this is not working.
Yeah. And I've got 38 reviews now. I think last time we Talked I had 14. So I've been working on that. I'm averaging about one to two a day. And I'm waiting on inventory right now. It's a JFK right now, so I know it's close.
But hopefully that'll be in by this week. And then I'm going to do another Zomblast. And I've actually been creating a Facebook community too, and I'm down to. I've got like 4000 likes at this point at 5 cents a like or something like that.
Perfect.
So I've been using that to do some list building as well. And we'll probably do some giveaways through that also.
Okay, cool. So yesterday you had nine sales. Was that the best sale that you've had since Christmas?
Yes.
Okay, so I'd keep everything the same.
For the next at least week and report back in the tribe with where you are in a week or two and then we can decide. I mean, you might be doing 15 sales a day by then just by increased reviews and increased rankings and you don't want to change anything. And if that's the case, then we sell to a whole lot of stress from trying to test and tweak everything on a micro level. Okay, cool.
That's cool.
Someone has a text. What else? I want to ask you. Oh, you're ranking. Where are you ranking right now?
Do you mean like BSR or keyword?
I mean keyword.
For my main keyword, I'm at between 25 and 28. And so that's right in the middle of page two.
For another keyword that I thought was my main keyword but actually doesn't get as much Traffic. I'm at number eight.
But like I said, it doesn't get as much traffic. And then I think I'm in a similar situation to what you said on a recent call you were in. Because a really great keyword for me is for a related but different product and it gets a ton of traffic.
And so this is probably where I'm going to be looking to focus my efforts for my second product when I'm ready to do that. I'm not ready to do that at this point.
Okay, so what's your question exactly?
Well, just that I'm stuck at like 100 to 150 for that keyword. It's like the eighth or ninth page. I'm not relevant.
It probably didn't drive significant volume through your Zon Blast or through ppc. Yes, that's why you're there.
I'm doing some PPC now. I found that I was doing it and getting a bad conversion rate on that. I mean, it was like 300% average cost of sale. So I kind of paused that campaign for a while, went back, looked at the data, tweaked some things on the page to see if I could rank better for that keyword or convert better for that keyword. And then I turned it back on, on a low keyword, low daily budget, just to see if I can start to build that keyword ranking again.
Okay, so here's what you should do. Focus on your one primary keyword that you know is bringing in sales, because as that elevates, it's going to pull the other keywords with it. So you might go from eight to four, just from the volume that comes from your primary keyword. Then once you have enough volume through your primary keyword to where you feel comfortable spending money in something else, then you can turn on more aggressive pay per click and you can do Zon blasts through that specific keyword. And that will be how you dominate multiple keywords. But focus on your first one first, okay?
Okay, will do.
Cool. Okay, try. If you have any other questions, you can post them in the forum. There will be no call next week, but there will be a call the week after. And that will be our final call before Vegas. If you have not RSVP'd for your spot at the dinner, please do so. The link was emailed to everybody who's on the tribe list, so please fill that out. It is just tribe members at dinner. You can bring a partner to the Mastermind, you can bring a spouse to the Mastermind. That's all fine. But it's just tribe members for the dinner. We have space limitations on that. So please, please fill out your survey for your reservation for dinner so that we have a specific headcount. I'm going to have to cut that off probably in a couple of days so that I can continue planning. So if you haven't filled it out, please do that. If you want a spot in March's Mastermind, if you're at, you should be at least the $10,000 a month level to really benefit.
From this strategic plan. Otherwise it's going to be too early for you. It's best if you're at more like the 2025 level. We'll create a custom strategy for you in person to get you to 50 and 100,000. So there are a few spots available in the March 8th, 9th and 10th date. You can either shoot me a message or comment on the thread in Facebook for that, or you can just shoot over the deposit via PayPal to reserve your spot. There's a couple spots left and they'll probably fill up here in the next week. Again, if you've got anything as far as wins, please do post them on the forum. This is fun time, right? This is when people are starting to grow because they're doing blast. They're starting to rank. They're having 50% jumps in business because they go from 10 to 15 sales a day. This is fun. We want to hear about all of them and the more stories we can get with that momentum going into when we meet in person is going to really build the energy moving forward. So please post those wins on Facebook. Thanks everybody, and I will talk to you in a couple weeks.
Bye, guys.
Bye. Bye.
