And we're live. Hey, everybody. Thanks for coming to the hangout and thank you for being flexible this week since we're on a different day and at a different time. Instead of coffee this week, I've got miso soup in coffee cup. How festive. So what I would actually, I'd like to reverse things this week, and what I would like to do is start by hearing from some of you, and then we'll tweak it accordingly. And what I'd like to start with is where you're at in the training.
What you're focusing on as a result of the training, and where you are in that process. And I want to open it up to you first and I want to take the call from there. So where are you at in the training and what action steps have you been taking as a result of where you are in the training?
This is an open floor.
Okay.
Yo, how's it going?
Hey, Kurt.
So I have solidified my product. I've got samples coming in hopefully this week. So I narrowed it down to the three, and then I just decided I'm just going to run with it. I'm going to pick the one that looks best. I've got. I do SEO, so I've got an affiliate site in the niche, so I know it a little bit. I know I can sell probably 30 products a month just through the site, so that's a plus.
Just trying to get everything sorted from supplier standpoint before I move into the fourth module here. So I don't get ahead of myself, but that'll come hopefully in a couple weeks or a week or two weeks when everything's ready. Getting a custom batch made up. This is a delightful little product. So, yeah, real excited. Just waiting now on samples and solidifying the final custom manufactured product.
And where are you in the training? What is the module teaching you to do that you're in right now?
3.
The fourth one just opened up yesterday or a couple days ago. I haven't jumped into that one yet, but that's more from what I can tell about sort of tweaking or solidifying the actual Amazon listing.
Cool. So what I like about your approach so far is that you're going off something that you have a strength in. You already have some knowledge in the market because you have an affiliate site, which is exactly what I did. So you have some assets that are going to help you.
Go up the chart faster. Tell me about the affiliate site and tell me, are you building a list on that site or are you just selling, doing Reviews or how is that affiliate site making?
It actually makes money through Amazon affiliates. So I mean, it's well suited for this. I would just slap up my link rather than affiliate link. And I am the worst in terms of getting around to build lists just so bad. I got another business that I'm building a list with and it's just opened my eyes to the necessity of that. So I was thinking on Friday actually how I can get a list together for this affiliate site. So that is indeed now on the to do list. But definitely waited a lot too long.
So here's what I would recommend. I would just.
Throw up an opt in somewhere on the page. It could be a pop up, it could be in the sidebar, it doesn't matter. And just say we're developing our own blank and say enter your email address to be notified. Bye, sweetie. Enter your email address to be notified.
When it goes live in order to qualify for a free one or a heavy discount or something like that. And then start collecting some leads. And then when launch day comes, you'll have a list ready. I say once you have your samples coming and actually kind of the next step, once you hit that point where you're ordered and you're just waiting on inventory to arrive, the next thing you do is ask the question, what can I set up so that I can hit the ground running to be taking sales from day one? Sean and I asked ourselves that question and it made a big difference for us. So start asking that, Start getting ready to ask that question because that's going to be your focus after you have your orders ordered.
Sweet.
Yeah, thanks.
I put something up on Reddit the other day to get some answers back on a survey because there's a scented or unscented version of this product. So I asked these guys, what do you want? So I've got a list of 30 people from now that are going to be getting a little free sample.
Good. Do it with your own audience as well.
All right, guys. Thank you, sir. Let's do a couple more. Where are you guys at in the training and what action steps are you taking as a result?
Yeah, this is Gosling.
Go ahead, Godson.
I just finished the module three in the training and for me I have opened the Amazon account and also because it took me a little bit time because of I'm in Nigeria. So I opened the account and now I am. I just contacted Catherine. So for the suppliers. For the suppliers.
Just for his. For her service. And also I just want to use her service because it will not easy for me. But the issue is just that my own product is a high competitive one and I'm just trying to know how I want to start with that and also know how I'm going to do about it. But there's something I got confused about along the line because they are talking about from the things I've been reading about in Tribe and also in the magazine, Monthly Profits, Amazon Profits magazine. They're just talking about branding that's going to register in the brand register and also knowing I'm just trying to figure out many things about the branding issue so that because I heard about hijackers.
You don't need to worry about that right now. Don't worry about that. Well, until you have your products live and selling, the only thing you'd be worrying about right now is what product are you selling and are you taking steps to get that product ready? Where we are in the process now, if we haven't narrowed down our products to at least two or three at the most, we're behind. If we're thinking about anything beyond getting our products ready to be sourced and sending to Amazon. You're distracting yourself. So stuff like brand registry, stuff like even copy, unless you're two modules ahead, I wouldn't worry about it right now. So I, I think you're. You're sweating too much about the details.
Okay, okay, that's very fine. Just that I. If I want to reduce the workload for me and I'm just using. I'm just. I've contacted Catherine. Hi, Catherine. I just want to just use her. I will use her service about the thing so that I will not be running around and want to know the things so that it will just be easy for me. And she's doing it. She knows more about how to source product from China. I love that.
Good. Are you clear on what products you're going to be sourcing?
Yeah, yeah, clear. But it gave me a little bit hard time to just decide this product, the product to start, phone, accessories, you. But I'm still looking at it. To a high competitive market.
I want to interject here, Godson, because this is the case for anybody who is going into a market that is very competitive. You're going into one of the more competitive ones and that market changes all the time. If you're going to go into a high competitive market, that's great. I recommend going into high competitive markets. But don't go in assuming that you can throw up an Amazon listing and it's just going to start selling. If you're going to go into a high competitive market. You're going to have to be aggressive and that's cool. I love to be aggressive. I don't go into any markets where I don't have to be aggressive. But you just have to know that you're going to have to play aggressively if you're going to compete in a very competitive market.
What are the things you recommend us to be? Very aggressive.
You're going to have to be bold with your attempts to get reviews. You're going to be vigilant in the systems that you develop to get those reviews. You should order more inventory than what would be necessary in a low competitive market. And you're going to have to spike the algorithm more aggressively in order to rank for the keywords that you'll need to. In order to get the volume. That's what I mean by aggressive. Okay.
May you promise something for us in the tribe?
What's that?
Yeah, you promise that maybe you're going to. Because the first prime meeting that we held, you are talking about trying to recommend some things for people to. That's the area to. Or the image to just look into. But you didn't talk. I didn't talk about it last meeting.
Yeah.
You say you just have to just tell people not to call, not to mention the product, maybe to just say look at the.
Site to look at or maybe the imagine niche that somebody can.
I gave you four last week. I gave you last week.
I wasn't live.
I wasn't because I had, I disturbed. I disturbed the meeting last time because of the microphone.
Okay. The replay is up on YouTube. You can go ahead and re watch that. We probably spent 20 minutes covering the markets that I recommend going into right now. I want to keep opening the floor. So let's jump in. Where are you in the training and what are you accomplishing as a result of where you're at? And if it's okay for me to call out, Eric, I'd love to hear where you are in the business acquisition and what you decided to do based on the training and correlation with that acquisition.
So, yeah, we've made offers and now we're just waiting for him to get back. So he's got a lot of ego invested in this product and just this whole upside thing like, man, if I only did these three things, this could be 200 to $300,000 business. We put an offer out there, but I've went ahead, did some research on some different products and contacted the supplier. So that's where I'm at with that. I'm almost all the way through the videos on module three and just submitted a couple things to some fiverr stuff to get some artwork going. Because the supplier that I contacted, I don't know if anybody else is this way. It was just here's the prices. As soon as you pay us, send us the artwork and we'll go. So that's where I'm at with that right now.
Cool. May I coach a bit on that negotiation process?
Absolutely.
Cool. So I learned a couple of really valuable things when I used to buy and sell websites. And one of the absolute rules that I recommend in the same position you're in is never, ever, ever allow negotiation based on. I think you recognize that. But if somebody says I can do just these two or three things, get it up to $200,000 a month, that's irrelevant.
That is like saying if I approach that girl, I might be able to get her number. Do you ever her number? No. Well then everything you're talking about is fake.
Sure, you could do this, this and this, but that is completely irrelevant. So the only thing that matters is the numbers that are currently showing up. Sean and I, I just turned like this.
Sean and I just, you know, our selling Zen Active and we'll. At one point we'll probably do a poll all about Zen. The way they negotiated with us was the average. This is pretty standard, Eric. So you're feel free to. You can feel free to feel this. It's the average of the last 12 months, not of the best month, not of the last three. Average of the last 12. Now we started the BIS because we took our first order 12 months ago. Guess what was in there? Our worst month ever where we ran out of inventory and we only had a few sales and we barely lasted through Christmas. That was calculated in there.
And then the months after where we had no inventory and were rebuilding. So all that is calculated in average of the last 12 months. And I'd caution you to negotiate any way different and certainly do not allow him to calculate future potential revenues.
I appreciate that. Did you have anything as far as your inventory currently and how did you price that? Cost versus retail?
Yeah. So they took.
The 12 month average was calculated into the purchase price. And then on top of that there was an addition of the cost of the inventory that we currently have. So if they were to buy out our inventory, what would it look like? Plus they also added in the cash that was in the bank. So we keep the cash that's in the bank. We Keep the cost of the inventory, because that's an expense of ours. And then they pay us what basically the valuation of the business is, which is based on the average of the last 12 months.
Very good.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
And any tips as far as, after you've contacted suppliers, do you want to get distracted with brand and artwork, or do you want to just keep going down in module 3?
This is assuming you're starting a new business. Yes, Assuming you're starting a new business. Yeah. If you ordered stuff already and you want to start looking at logos and design and stuff like that, Absolutely. You can start moving in like that. Okay, cool.
Thank you.
All right, so I want to bring up a question that came up on the chat here, which is. Let me find it.
Here we go. We have a large customer base from our ebay business, but our products are going to be in very different markets. Ebay is women's fashion. Amazon will be pet products. Should we consider using the email list for coupon offerings or the Amazon product? So this is a great question. Since she has a business on ebay and she's building a business on Amazon and they're different, should she use the existing list to promote Amazon products? My answer to this is not going to be what she expects. It's going to be that you should probably consider building your Amazon business in whatever your list is on ebay. If you can build a business in women's fashion, if you've got an asset, by all means, you should leverage that asset. So I would actually like to hear your reason for not doing that, but let me address something to the whole tribe for a second.
This is the same we discussed with Kurt. If you have an asset, if you have a launching, if you have access to some part of a market, by all means, utilize that in your new business. If you don't, you're taking five steps forward in order to match up to where you are. You will build a business much faster if you have some sort of asset that you can use to launch off of that into your existing business. So if you have those assets, take those into strong considerations. And that could be who you know that has a list, who you know that has a blog, if you have a blog, if you have traffic, if you've got a list somewhere, if you have a product somewhere, if you've got assets, please use them. When your product hits Amazon, all we're going to be thinking about is sales and reviews. That is all we're going to think about. In fact, I've been In this business, well over a year do about a quarter million dollars a month in my best business. And that's still pretty much all we think about. How do we get more sales and how do we get more reviews?
In order for you to answer that question, when you're first starting, you're going to be looking at what are your most immediate tangible assets that you can access to get those initial sales and those reviews. When Sean and I when invisible, Shawn and I did this. We did this through building a Facebook page because we had no assets in yoga. So we built the Facebook page and a lot of people misunderstood that presentation at asm being that Facebook was the way to market all products. That's not the case. What we needed was some sort of an asset that we could use to launch our business to get sales and reviews. So we built a Facebook page for some people. For Kurt, it's going to be his going to put ads up on his blog. For somebody else it's going to be, I have an existing list that I'm going to mail to. For other people it's going to be, I have traffic to this website. So if you have, you have an asset, go ahead and please leverage that asset. So Lena, I'd actually be really curious to hear why you decided not to do that. And if possible, I'm going to try and steer you away from that to this to keep using those. I'll take one more question from the chat and then we'll bring it back to the discussion here. This is a good one from Peter and he says, I've got samples from one supplier, I'm awaiting samples from another. On a custom made product. Might it make sense to go into production on a test basis with both to see who performs best on a final product? Peter it depends on what it is that you're making. For some things, if you're going to custom make it, then it should be the same no matter who makes.
Wouldn't hurt though to test two different people to see who creates it faster because that is going to be relevant later. So if you've got the funds and you're willing to do that, I do think it's a good idea to see communication styles, to see how fast they get things produced and shipped. You would not want, however, if you're ordering 100 units from both, you would not want to send them both to Amazon because then you might have two different products sitting in inventory at Amazon which you don't want. But if you're getting samples, sure, go ahead and get Both of them to supply and compete with one another. Compete on price. By all means do that. Alright, let's switch back over to the floor here. I want one more person to tell me where they're at and what action steps they're taking as a result of where they are.
Rob James, the last time we talked I was telling you that I actually ran out of stock and we were getting stock back in. So stock is back and we're climbing back up the rankings right now. Initially I was doing between 25 to 30 sales a day, but now that the restock, we're probably in the 10 to 15 sales a day right now. So what I did just recently, just a few days ago, I created 10% coupon put on my listing and today I'm back about 15 sales and it's still relatively early. I still got about six more hours left in the day, so it looks like that may have helped. But I'm probably looking to do probably like one of those zone blasts to see if I can push myself back up to ranking. Most of my rankings have recovered, but again I still don't understand why I'm not getting the same amount of like unique visitors I used to get I guess.
Prior to running out of stock. So trying to figure that out.
Okay, so tell me, when did you get your rankings back?
Alright, so I'm actually, I'm looking at it right now. I.
Ran out of Stock on the 26th, my rankings came back about the 10th, so that was probably about.
Eight days after I got back in stock. So yeah, a little over a week I got majority of my rankings back.
So tell me again you did your rankings come back or did your inventory come back on the 10th?
No, so I was restocked, my rankings came back on the 10th, I was restocked on the 30th.
Got it. Okay, cool. So it could be a variety of things. For some reason there just tends to be some sort of a momentum shift that happens when you run out of inventory. You run out, you disappear for a while, customers forget about you. Why that is, I never really have been able to figure out except the market adjusts a little bit pricing wise so you're not influencing pricing. And people who have been considering several products for a few days see yours and aren't considering you that would have considered you while you were gone. I would give it another week before I worried too much.
I mean the important thing is that you're back to where your rankings were and if in a week you're not back to where you were before. You run out of inventory, then we might have to go back to the drawing board and scratch our heads a bit. But overall, it doesn't surprise me that you're down a few units a day, even though your rankings are back to where they were. That doesn't really surprise me. Okay.
And actually, you know what? I just realized a variable that I didn't mention. I have it in bold here. I lost my bestseller.
Bestseller badge. So I had a bestseller badge on a particular category, and it looks like I've been outsold in that category during the time that I lost my inventory. So that could be part of it.
That's not just part of it, James. A best seller tag will increase rankings by 30 to 50%. Okay. That is.
Okay. So I'm number two.
Oh, yeah.
So I lost that badge. So I'm like, I'm number two in that category now. So I'm assuming maybe, like, some kind of blast or a giveaway will probably.
Kick me over the top 100%. So kick yourself over the top, get that badge back, and your sales will be back faster than you can say.
Yugoslavia.
Know what I mean, James? Yeah.
You know where Yugoslavia is, right?
A long way away.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Doug's not here. Wore my black hoodie again. Poor Doug. So this is my public calling out of Doug. You're getting less and less scary the more hangouts that you miss. And don't bring your hoodie. I'm officially the scariest guy on the hangout. Two weeks in a row without you here, Doug. All right, so where I want to take things, at least for a couple minutes, is I spent the last three days with one of my mentors, which is why we rescheduled this call in the first place. And we talked about a lot of things, mostly mindset related. What's interesting, here's a writer downer, folks.
The millionaires and multimillionaires that I hang out with, and I'm at that level now, but when I was not at that level, but did hang out with those people, what I noticed was that millionaires and multimillionaires did not worry so much about tactics. Millionaires and multimillionaires didn't spend their time talking business strategy all that much. And today we talk about strategy probably a lot less now that I'm at the multimillion dollar level. What millionaires and multimillionaires spend their time talking about and thinking about, reading about isn't so much business tactics as much as it is mindset. And that sounds so cliche. And when I was not at this level I would be like, that's bullshit. Just give me the fucking tactics. I just want the thing that is going to put money in my bank account. And the fact of the matter is that now that I'm here, I realize, I realized that that's the case, that the tactics I used to have this idea that there were tactics that were being kept from me or that there was some sort of secret that people weren't sharing. And that's not the case. So there's a lot of when the desire is there, like give me the frickin tactic. Chances are you already know them. You probably know just as much as the people who are doing millions of dollars. The difference is the way that the people at the top think.
Three years ago I would have been like, Ryan bought into the stupid philosophy. No, I just found out that it's actually the case that millionaires and multimillionaires focus more on what's between their ears than they do about the specific tactics.
Here is perfect proof of that. The biggest difference that I have found in hiring people isn't so much what they know how to do, as much it is their mindset about how to do it. So when I go to hire someone, and this is how I know it's true, I'm hiring someone now, I could have someone who knows how to do all the things but has the wrong mindset about it. They're not a fit for my company but somebody else with slightly inferior skills. But the right mindset will be a much, much better hire for my company. The most important of that being does this person focus more on contributing to the company, providing value for the company, or does this person think more about what I'm going to get out of this opportunity? If it is what I can get out of this opportunity, they are not a fit for this company. And the reason for that is because value is unlimited. You can make a case for. If you ever hear the case that people make.
From a scarcity mindset that there is a limited number of dollars, you could make an argument that there's a limited number of dollars. But you cannot make the argument that there's a limited number of value, that there's a limited number of wealth that does not exist. There is unlimited wealth, there is unlimited value even if material dollars are limited. Now I don't know if that's the case. I don't know if there's a fixed number of dollars. I have no Way to know that. But I do know that there's no limit to value. Because if I trade you something and I value whatever I got more than what I gave you, and you value whatever you got more than what you gave me, then both of us benefited. And it's not a zero sum game. We have both benefited. We have created value, and that is what we do as entrepreneurs. And I bring all this up to say that I spent so many years of my life thinking, what tactic is going to give me the most stuff? What is going to give me the most so that I can have whatever it is that I want. And I never, ever, ever saw the success and the results that I wanted. The minute it switched to, you know what, I don't really need any of this, and I'm just going to give as much as possible. The minute that changed, I had more than I ever knew that I could have, and faster than I knew I could have it. That was a mindset shift. Now, I can tell you that. I could tell you tactics of the abundance mentality, but that wouldn't do anything for you. It's a mindset shift that happens that really makes the biggest difference in one's success. So what I'd like to do for a couple of minutes, and then we can just take it up for either Q and A about this, or we can do it about ASM training. But what my mind has been on has been the last three days and working with one of my mentors who specializes in just helping adjust people's mindset. So I just wrote a couple of notes down that I wanted to share with you guys. And they're in no particular order except the chronological order of how they happened. And I just want to share them with you. And if you get something out of them, great. If not, take the ones that you find value in. The first was an exercise that we did. My mentor is a black belt, and his first business was a.
I just saw that Doug put in the chat box that he's watching on the chat. Doug, are you wearing a black hoodie? I hope you're scaring somebody today. The first exercise that I did with my mentor was we had someone hold a target at a target, and we had not boxing gloves, but fighting gloves on. And our goal, we had one objective, and it was to hit the target with our fists back and forth, back and forth, as hard as we could. That was our only objective. The only thing in the way was there were two dudes on either side pushing you, slapping you in the face. Punching you.
Pulling at your arms, slapping you in the head. And all you had to do was keep hitting the target. And an interesting thing happened because you're hitting the target and you're getting hit in the face and people are pushing you and they're tickling you, they're trying to make you laugh and you just have to keep hitting the target. People are pulling at your arm. One guy tackled me. Get back up. Keep hitting the target. After a minute you're exhausted, but you don't think about all the obstacles that are being put in your way. You think about, how do I hit the fucking target even harder? How do I get everything out of my way so I can keep hitting the target. And that is the only thing that you think about when you are completely focused on that target. You don't think about what's hitting you in the face and what's punching you in the eye and what's trying to make you laugh. You just keep hitting the target, hitting the target. At one point, a guy grabbed my arm, was pulling me away and I couldn't get my arm away from him. So I just kept hitting the target with one arm. I didn't even think about, how do I get my arm back. I'm just hitting the target with my other arm.
We just went until we were absolutely exhausted. I'm actually still incredibly sore. Last night I went to sneeze and I couldn't sneeze because I was so sore. My chest, my back went. I couldn't go chew because I was so sore. But I tell you this story.
To help you hone in on the idea that we all have a target.
And there's two types of people, two types of entrepreneurs. There are those who look at the. Objection, the objective, sorry, the, what is the word? Objects. The things that get in your way of hitting the target and they go, hmm, man, that really hurt. I think I just want to pause this because these things really, really hurt. And I'm tired of getting hit in the face. And then there are people who are like, I don't even feel this because all I see is the target. And if somebody's got with me with one arm, I'm just going to keep hitting the target with the other arm. And it's time to decide now what type of person that you are. Because this is the point in the game, this is the point in the game where you have to start taking real risk. It's one thing to join a program with 30 or 60 day money back guarantee or whatever. That's the easy part, the hard part is ordering inventory and putting yourself out there for rejection. Or in Eric's case, buying a business or actually ordering a sample from a supplier. It's a completely different type of risk because all of a sudden your butt is on the line. If you order a product and you don't make and you fail, what's the language you use? It didn't work. That's what everybody says, it didn't work. When the reality is the people are using the exact same tactics. There's millionaires using one tactic and there's four people using the same exact tactic. What's different? One person's getting beat up by the objectives. That's the word, right? Objectives. That's the word for things getting in your way. And some people, all they do is focus in on the target.
This is the point where you have to start taking risks and you either go in obstacle. Thanks, James.
You can either go in knowing you're going to get hit in the face or you can go in hoping you're not going to get hit in the face. And when you get hit in the face, go, ah, don't want to do this. And they are completely different mindsets. Most entrepreneurs think that once they get in the ring, they're not going to get hit in the face. But the truth is the people who win are. The people who get into the ring know they're going to get hit in the face and they keep going anyway because all they see is the target. That was the first thing I wanted to share with you. The second thing was an interesting quote that my mentor said almost offhand and he asked the question, do you think that life. I'm sorry, do you think that happiness is a natural state or do you think that happiness is something that needs to be earned? And those of you in the chat box and those of you who are watching, I would like to hear your vote on this.
Do you think that happiness is a natural state that gets covered up programming and all we need to do is unravel that thing, or is it something that we don't have that we need to strive for in order to get in the chat box? I'd like to hear that. And for those of you on the call, go ahead and put that in. Eric says naturally have. Joe says, naturally have.
So far, universal or natural state. And that was my answer as well. And he made the exact same argument.
This is his quote. Life is supposed to be fun, life is supposed to be enjoyable. Life is supposed to be relatively stress free. And all of the stories and stresses that we feel on a natural, on a regular basis are usually stories that we have in our head.
There are usually meanings that we're putting on things. Something being hard, something being stressful, something being difficult is not necessarily what it actually is so much as the story that we're putting on it. The truth is, the only real meaning is the meaning that we put on things. So this is stressful because of whatever I'm concluding as a result of it being a challenge or being something new, which I thought was really interesting.
What else?
This is a good one. This is one that I asterisks really, really big. He said a powerful thought. The only difference between a powerful thought and a thought that passes is the amount of time that it is sustained.
This was really interesting. So a powerful thought is one that is sustained, one that we hold onto for a long, long time. That is what a powerful thought is.
I'm debating if I should tell you the example because it's a little bit gruesome.
There was someone who was. I'll give you an abraid version. There was a priest who was convicted of a heinous crime.
And right before he was. I think it was the night before he was to be executed, they asked. They were interviewing him on tv and they said.
What happened? Like.
Why did you do this? And he said, you know, I never thought I would be the type of person that would do this. But one day I had the thought and I thought, hmm, I wonder what that would be like. And a few days later, he had the thought again, and it stayed a little bit longer. And then a few weeks went by, and a thought became curiosity, and curiosity became a plan. A plan became an action, action became a habit. And so he was busted for serial crimes because of sustained energy on a thought. Now, that's a gruesome example for effect. And when he told it, it was more gruesome than that. But the idea is a powerful thought is one that is sustained. And we can give energy to any of our thoughts. We can give energy to the thought of.
Wynn knows who I was hanging out with this weekend.
We can give energy to any of those thoughts. We can give energy to the thoughts that empower us or the thoughts that disempower us. And it's our choice.
Which of those we decide to give energy to. That was an interesting thing for me to dwell on. Of what thoughts am I feeding and which am I starving? There's no one telling you if some of you are sitting there thinking I'm going to fail in this business. I know exactly what's going to happen. This is going to happen, this is going to happen and this is going to happen. I just know it now. That's not real.
You're just feeding the thought. It hasn't happened yet. So if neither one has happened, why not feed the thought that you're going to be a multimillionaire in this business and that you're going to live in your dream house and do whatever the heck you want? If both options are in front of you and neither one of them are real right now, if a powerful thought is one that is fed, why not just feed the one that you want? I heard the quote once, that.
Worry is praying is asking the universe for what you don't want because you're just consistently feeding the thought of what you don't want to happen. Why not just not give energy to the thought and give energy to the thoughts that you do want to have? Why not? What are you losing by doing that and what is it costing you to just continually feed negative thoughts? Thought that was really interesting.
What else? This was interesting. This is an interesting post that I wrote down that will influence your copy when you go to write your listing or when you go to be in any business selling anything in your business was People do not care how good your thing is. What they care is how much you clearly understand the end result that they want.
The connection between quality and how much money you make is only in your head. Now there is an asterisk here. That was me drawing an asterisk and my mentor Jesse said you have a black and white differentiator between if something is good enough or not, will something produce a certain result or not. Is the yoga mat good enough or not? Is the yoga mat environmentally friendly or not? And that is very black and white. The rest is not. The amount of money you make is not. And after a certain point there is a diminishing return. Actually we even say no connection between the coins, quality and how much money you make as a result. Now this is not to say your product can be crappy and you'll have a great business. Quite the opposite. It is product is not good enough here and then we cross over where it is now good enough. And that's all we need to worry about is good enough.
And our income is of no relevance, is of no correlation once the product is at it's good enough. Now this isn't to say you should not worry about product quality. This is not to say that you don't need to continually innovate your products. Quite the opposite. What I'm saying is so many people spend their time polishing a golden turd as I once heard it called. They keep polishing and polishing and polishing and polishing and polishing and just saying, ah, it's not good enough yet, it's not good enough yet. Instead of putting it into the marketplace and getting feedback and starting to market the product that is good. And the thing that's interesting here is that people don't care so much about how good your thing is. So if we did something brand new to our yoga mat that we thought was awesome but had no relevance in the marketplace, people don't care. What they do care about is the correlation between what your product does and the end outcome that they want. So while you're writing your copy, while you are developing your product, think less about how can I make my product just absolutely awesome versus what changes produce the most impact toward the end result of what my consumer wants. And in your copy highlights the end result that the consumer wants, not what your product does. That is a real key difference between bad copy and really, really good copy.
I think the last thing I want to bring up.
Was the number one investment that you can make as an entrepreneur, which is in yourself.
And you know, I, this is why it was impactful for me.
I love investing. I own single family homes, I own dividend paying stock stock. I invest privately in businesses. I like Shark Tank, I love investing. In fact, I started my Internet business so that I could invest.
The thing that I like the most as far as making money is investing. And I've been thinking a lot about what is the next big investment that I make. And the truth is the best ROI from your business comes from the investment you make in yourself, the people you hang around, the things that you learn.
Your biggest ROI is not so much in the next hot tech stock as much as it is in developing a skill that will make you millions of dollars over your career. So some of you are learning a skill right now about how to put products on Amazon and sell them that even if your business is only modestly successful, is something you could take and leverage. To other businesses who want to give you equity, to other businesses who need help sourcing products. There are skills that you develop that make you a more valuable person to the marketplace. Not more valuable in the sight of God, not more valuable in your community, but more valuable in the marketplace.
And those types of investments bring the highest roi. I need to plug my computer in. So forgive me while we go on a little field trip together and while we're going on this field trip, I would like to hear your feedback or any questions that you have about either what we've talked about or the actual training itself and moving forward. So this is me turning it back over to you now.
Hey, Ryan.
Yeah. Yeah.
I don't know if you remember the last question I asked on the last call.
You'll have to remind me.
Yeah, I asked about shipping directly from China to fba and I just pulled that at the last moment because I didn't know if Amazon would accept to pay the customs.
So I searched the issue and I found several solutions for this. The first one was two options either to set up F class mail and FBA inspection. But I was wondering, it's a good thing to do to have your shipment inspected before you ship it to fba, but.
In the future, I mean when.
You have to.
Fulfill, I mean when you're out of stock and you need several thousand units like in the next two days is going to make a difference if it's directly shipped to FBA or first.
You know. So I was wondering, I just contacted DHL in my country to set up global forwarding, but I read on the forum of ASM that you should set up global forwarding in the US.
So I was wondering what your thoughts on this.
Yeah. So.
If you want to get your inventory in two days, you're going to need a teleporter. You can get one from the same manufacturer that made one for Star Trek.
I think Beam Me Up Scotty Inc. Is a good one that made teleporters. But the traditional process for transporting from China over to FBA is China will.
Send it to your shipping company. Shipping company will put it on a boat over to the US or there actually might for some manufacturers, they might have their own shipping, but they're shipping over to Vancouver US or whatever the port is. And then you have a freight forwarding company that.
You have a freight forwarding company, take it from there straight to Amazon's warehouse. Now, the actual freight forwarding company, to be honest, I'll have to have Sean post that in the form. I think we have several threads about that topic. But it's a freight forwarding company and I think DHL is one of those that will take it from the port and zip it over to Amazon's inventory or Amazon's warehouse. Does that make sense, Pierre?
Yes. But you're talking about shipment by boat, right?
Correct. Oh, you're talking about via air.
Yeah, yeah.
So this I actually have no idea about because I'm jealous of those who can buy air. Does anybody else on the call have an idea?
Catherine, do you know?
Oh, yeah.
Okay, well then go ahead.
Actually, sending the infantry from China via Jiao, it's much simpler than you think of. And the only thing that you need to prepare is make sure you find the shipping agent that can handle everything for you in my case. And also helping other people would be your manufacturer, probably already have the shipping agents which give you good prices and.
Good services.
And all will be set up and then you just get your product and they take care of everything. And the Ethl and the factory itself will send your orders to the ports of China where the DHL will pick up and then send directly to Amazon warehouse. Of course you have to prepare your shipping label beforehand so that everything will be, you know, stick to the carton box. So that Amazon warehouse you recognize the carton box and all the way through whether there were custom duties or not should be taken care of because thl take care of all those things better than anyone else as far as my experience.
Pierre, does that help?
Yeah.
Yes, it helps very. Thanks, Katherine. But the thing is.
For the first shipment I had it sent to someone in the US and hopefully there was no customs because the order was, I think it was below $300. But the thing is my question is how can should I set up with a DHL agent in China?
Oh actually or in the US or in France.
You send somewhere before the Amazon warehouse. What's the purpose of doing that? If you have your product you satisfy then directly to Amazon warehouse would be the best one. If you send somewhere between, then it's different thing. Then someone has to send it to Amazon warehouse. That is different from what I did. Yes.
Yeah.
Because the issue I've not seen anywhere someone telling Amazon will choose my product. So I figured out like it must work to ship directly from DHL to fba. But the thing is.
Yes, you need to have an account first because if you don't have an address where DHL can bill the invoice of the duty and the customs that they collect from the U.S. i mean, who's going to pay? That's what I'm talking about. So that's my question.
Pay for the custom or any custom.
Because someone has to pay for the customs when they get.
I always had that issue when someone asks. But don't worry. Yeah, it nerves me as well. But you just tell the shipping agent you Just tell the shipper, your faction, that teacher will take care of it. And, you know, they just make things more complicated than it's used to be. Yeah. Matter of fact, he always told the same thing. Oh, asking me. Okay, I will calm him down. No, don't worry. You know, send to the warehouse. It will be taken care of. Those are the minor details. You know, we will just dramatize the whole process.
They take care of it and then you reimburse them via your invoice.
Yeah, it should be. Yeah, they will always be so nervous about that. But, you know, don't worry about that.
They handle it as the. As the shipping companies.
Yes.
Then you reimburse them.
Absolutely. Yeah, done.
That answer your question here. I asked to give you three thumbs up, but you're just.
Sorry. Make a grunt noise if that helps. You hear me. I can hear you fine.
Yeah, I just said yeah. So it's the manufacturer who takes care of this or the shipping agent.
Related to manufacturer.
You asked the manufacturer to talk to the shipping agent. That will be reversed when there are any custom duties happen.
Okay, but I first need to set them an account first, right?
No, the factory has the shipping account. You don't need.
You don't need. Someone has the account. You are not the one to open any account. You just use the service. You just paid the money.
Okay.
Yeah, thanks.
Cool. All right, let's take a couple more. Who else would like to ask questions about the training or anything we've talked about?
Hey, Ryan, can you hear me?
Sure can, Jimmy.
Hey, how's it going?
Actually, Jimmy, since Pierre didn't do so, in order to ask your question, you need to make a grunt noise. Good, Good. Now you can ask your question.
Yeah, I'm an ASM3 guy, but I do have a question because I am launching a second product as to what would be the best on keywords, kind of keyword selection. So to give you a little bit of background, I do about 10 to 12 units a day. So looking to perhaps double that with my new product. The question I have is about keyword selection. I have about five or six different keywords that, thank God, I'm actually ranking on the first page for. So doing well on that. And they are moderately competitive keywords. My question is, should I focus more on those to get those more to number one, number two, versus the 4, 5, 10 that I am right now, or should I try to bring in other keywords to ultimately, I guess, increase sales?
This is on your existing product?
Yes, that's correct. So the One that I currently have prior to this other launch. I'm just trying to get everything kind of squared away and do best practices if I can.
If you're ranking on 4 and 5 for your existing keyword, where does that put you as far as sales rank in your category?
Right about 3,000, sorry.
In your micro category, your subcategory. For example, my girlfriend sells cat scratchers. She probably ranks number six for the keyword and cheese number five for cat scratchers. Total of all the cat scratchers, select number five in sales. Where would you be as a result? You're ranked number five keyword wise. Where do you rank for your products?
Seven or eight.
Seven or eight?
It's been as high as 15, but recently it's been about. Call it 10, maybe the 10 range.
Okay, cool. So if you're ranking four or five.
On a couple different keywords and that product rank like you're talking about is right about 10, let's say.
Okay, cool. So ranking number one is probably not going to make a huge difference between ranking where you are and ranking at.
Number five. That is not what's going to make the biggest difference. There's something else in there about your product or your listing that is going to make a much bigger difference than your keyword ranking of number one versus number five. If you have the tenth number, getting more reviews will probably do more than ranking positions higher. In Amazon's algorithm, getting a number one best seller tag will do more than ranking number one for that keyword versus number five. Now, if you were on page three, I would say going from number one to page three, that's a big difference. Number one and number five, there might be a difference. It's not a huge difference. So to answer your question very specifically, you will do more ranking for a new keyword if it's a big enough keyword than you will going from position five to number two, I can tell you that much. But there's probably something else that will make an even more meaningful impact than ranking for more keywords. Because if you can get your sales up.
Then ranking for other keywords will be really, really easy and you'll have a snowball at that point. I'd be curious what else on your listing you can improve. My guess, it's reviews. Where do you use your quantity of reviews compared to the guys who are number two and three and four?
They're at 2,300 kind of range. I'm about at 75.
It is a newer product and I'm trying to get to that hundred Kind of mark, but I'm not quite to where they are.
Okay. My guess is that that is going to make a much bigger impact than.
Moving up a few spots in the rankings. But in the keyword rankings, I think your sales rankings will go up more by other factors like.
Your copy and your images and your reviews than a few spots. But forgive me for belaboring the point, but to answer your question specifically, ranking for an additional keyword will give you more of a bang than ranking for the same keyword but a few spots higher. Unless you are on page two, bottom of page one. Once you're in the top five, you've done pretty much all you can do. Getting number one is nice, but it's not going to be a huge difference. It'll be a difference, but not a huge difference.
Okay, very good.
Thank you.
Cool. Let's take one more and actually, actually, I lied. Let me look at the chat. Where did the chat go? I lost the chat. Let me pull up the chat and then we'll take one.
There we go.
There's a question about calling my customers. I've answered this question a thousand times, so I'm not going to answer it today. I'm very, very specific in my post about the Amazon launch process. I give my script away there. Here's a good question.
Do you recommend using the ASM email tool.
Or incorporating one of the others? Do I use Feedback Genius, feedbackfive waiverview? I actually have never heard of Waiverview. We handle most of our stuff inside internally, but we do use feedbackfive and have good success with it.
Feedback Fanatic.
I've not heard a lot of good things about Feedback Genius. We have used with some success, so any one of those tools will work just fine. But the majority of your reviews tend to come from internal practices following up with your customers.
Specifically yourself.
All right.
Doug says. Ryan, can you explain a little about Amazon PPC and Facebook ppc? The only thing you need to know for your first launch of your product, when you get your product in house, is spend aggressively on your Amazon PPC and do a launch. We've documented how to do a launch a hundred different times. But spend aggressively on your Amazon ppc as much as we're comfortable spending without going into the red. If you're not comfortable going into red, if you're comfortable going into the red, by all means do so. Joe Master Joe does that and is really successful at it because he's got the patience to burn through capital that way. But there's no real trick to Amazon ppc except have your conversions in place and spend as much as you're comfortable. Let's take one more question from those of you who are on the hangout directly and then we'll call night.
No. Hello.
Go ahead.
G.
Yeah.
I'm in the ASME 4. I just joined the issue. I'm still in the product.
In the product level. So what I want to if like you said in the a, the in the high competitive niche and if I'm, if I can still go on with it or just if I can still look onto other things now, since I'm still in the, in this side now. So that's what I'm still thinking about. But I like the products, maybe the phone accessories, high competitive market. So what I'm still asking is doing in the tribe will still say go ahead, there's no problem about that or I can still look onto other things. So that's just the only problem because with the service or some things I'm just like other things I've learned or in the tribal things. The post that is being done every day in the tribe.
Are you asking if you should go into the high competitive market or not?
If I can still continue to go, that's to look into, to just select because I have selected the products in the high competitive market. What I'm just asking if I can still go on with that.
If you're asking if you should go into the market or not. IPhone cases, it's cell phone accessories, correct?
Yes, yes, yes.
So that's a market I tend to steer people away from just because you have to be more aggressive than most. Now, if you're willing to be aggressive in that market, buy, by all means, please do so. By all means go into this market. But that specifically is a market that I tend to steer people away from, just like I would steer people away from Garcinia, Cambodia, just because of the sheer amount of aggressiveness that you need to have going into that market and there's diminishing returns. So if we look at the trends just like we did last week, iPhone6 case is going to be hot, if you will, for another eight months until iPhone6Z comes out and there's going to be a different case for it and you're going to have to order new inventory from it. So if you're okay with that, totally cool, go into that market and be aggressive in it. But if you're a solo person going in by yourself, then I would hesitate to recommend it to you. And there's a knock at my door and I think it's Sean Coyne. I might want to say hi to everybody. So does that answer I know that's not like yes, go into this market godson or no, go into it. It's up to how aggressive you want to be. But it tends to be one market that I steer people away from.
Okay.
And it is our neighborhood friendly Sean Coyne. Hey, everybody.
Hi.
Hi, Sean.
So with our neighborhood friendly Sean Coyne arriving, we will call it a day. I'm trying to keep on Sean's face and he keeps moving. So thanks for coming, everybody. Everybody in the chat, wave to your neighborhood friendly John Coyne. And guys, just so you know, we go back to our normal time next week. So thanks for being flexible with this one and we will see you next week. Thanks, everybody. Thank you. Thank you.
