In this introductory lesson of the Wix eCommerce School, Margo, the head of e‑commerce content at Wix, welcomes learners to the six‑lesson course on how to market an online store. She highlights Wix’s large merchant base (over 500,000 online stores) and promises to share tips and best practices from Wix merchants and internal experts. The lesson underscores the importance of a solid marketing strategy, citing COVID‑19‑driven e‑commerce growth: May 2020 online spending rose 77% YoY, a 17% increase from April, and brands that emphasized marketing grew 70% YoY. The curriculum is broken into six modules covering store readiness, customer acquisition, sales growth, repeat shoppers, and multichannel expansion, with flexibility to skip sections. Each lesson blends theory, product setup, and real‑world Wix merchant examples. Guest contributors Matthew Kaminski (product marketing manager & SEO) and Daniela Dukes (e‑commerce writer/editor) will provide additional expertise. Learners are encouraged to pause, take notes, and progress at their own pace before moving to the next lesson on getting the store ready for business.
