In this short interview, Kate Levenstein, CEO of Cannonball Productions, recounts her path from a childhood bottle‑cap business to founding her own event‑production company. She describes how, at nine, she turned bottle caps into nickels, later launching the Live Events division at LivingSocial in 2011. After years of 75‑hour weeks and the eventual shutdown of that division, she decided she would only work that hard for herself. Leveraging only a phone, a ticket‑selling website, and industry contacts, she started Cannonball Productions with a “blank‑slate” mindset. Two years on, the company produces large‑scale experiences such as the Bacon and Beer Classic in stadiums and the Lions, Tigers & Brews craft‑beer and food festival in zoos across the U.S. Kate emphasizes that the core purpose of Cannonball is to bring people together.
