Webinar: Meet Dine by Wix | Wix Restaurants

In this 30‑minute webinar, Lev and Hen, leads of the Dine (formerly Dyn) by Wix development team, present the Dine mobile app to restaurant owners. They begin by arguing why a mobile app is essential, citing that 30‑50% of food orders now come from mobile apps and that mobile‑originated orders have higher completion and repeat rates. They then walk through a live demo of the app’s user flow: receiving an invitation code, selecting pickup or delivery (including a DoorDash integration), adding items to the cart, applying a mobile‑only discount, checking out with pre‑filled contact and payment info, and accessing order status, chat, and saved addresses/cards. The presenters showcase the Dine Marketplace (discovery) feature, which lets users find nearby restaurants via location, filters, and dish‑name search, expanding a restaurant’s reach beyond direct invitations. Throughout, they highlight pro‑tips such as using push notifications, in‑app chat, and mobile‑only discounts to avoid high third‑party commissions. The session includes a brief Q&A where participants ask about order‑history reminders, recurring orders, and back‑of‑house integrations, with the team noting current limitations and future considerations. Attendees are prompted to download the app, log in with their Wix email, and verify their restaurant’s presence in the app.

So, welcome to Dyn by Wix webinar. My name is Lev and with me, hi, I'm Hen and we are both leading the Dyn by Wix development team at Wix. And today in the next 30 minutes, we are going to talk about Dyn mobile app. We will start from introducing the Dyn app for those who are not familiar with this and I will just go to the next slide. Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
So we'll start from introducing the Dyne by Wix app. We'll do a short demo. Following that we will reveal and introduce the Dine Marketplace, which we call also the discovery because this is how users, your customers will discover your businesses. And after that, we will introduce few pro tips and suggestions that you can do to increase the chance to succeed inside the Dyn apps and gain more orders and more valuable users. We know your time is super valuable. You are restaurants owners and we want to make this webinar as efficient as possible. So first of all, feel free to ask questions in the Q and A. You have in Zoom, the Q and A button. And our team will try to answer these questions during the webinar or right after. In addition, we're going to ask you to do certain things during the webinar. So be focused and we'll do it together. This will help you to succeed in the Dynavic. So let's start. So before we will dive to the Dyn features and demos, I want to start with the questions why you should invest in your mobile presence. When I'm saying mobile, I mean mobile app and not only web mobile. From different resources we see that more than 30% of orders worldwide are made through mobile apps. And according to some resources, it's even higher. It's even 40 or 50%. It's very difficult to collect this data. But for sure this number is increasing. And during the pandemic and Covid and lockdowns, this number is getting higher and higher. And it kind of makes sense. We're also looking on our data and we can see that users that starting an order flow from mobile application, there is more chance that they will finish this order flow and will not drop in the middle. Also users that are returning and ordering again, users who ordered for the first time through the mobile app. So there is higher chance they will do the second order. And this makes sense because ordering from the mobile is much more convenient for the users. And we can explain this by several things. First of all, it became a standard that any restaurant need a mobile app and the ability to order from Mobile and for users, they have lots of apps installed on their mobile phones and Dynapp is already installed on their phone, so why not to order from the app again? Second, the user tend to save their private data on mobile apps. They trust mobile apps more than web. So stuff like credit cards or addresses, it's very convenient to them to store this information on the mobile app. So they will be able to order again and all this information will be out of field for them and they will not need to enter this data again. In addition, there is the order history that the users are logged in and we store all their data so we can show them the order in progress or order history and they can see the progress of the order whether it's fulfilled or not fulfilled. And they can also see previous order and order again if they want. And we kind of push them to do this and they are doing this. And in the near future we will also add an option to order exactly the same order, the same dish. Next, the fact that we are using mobile device, we know the location of the user so we can suggest them restaurants that provide services to their location and at that certain time. So it's much more convenient for the user to get such suggestions. In addition, there is very convenient chat that the customers can start conversation directly with the restaurant. And there is a way you can encourage your customers by sending them push notifications with announcements and discounts and some advertisements. For example, there is a new dish, very tasty or there is a discount on that and that dish if you order from the mobile. So you can engage them to order from your restaurants. And Chen will show in a few slides how you can do all this stuff. And now then understand what I want you to take from these two, three slides is that you should invest in mobile customers. They are super valuable for your business and you should invest in your mobile presence. Now I want to dive to the demo, right?
Yeah,
no, let's go back, sorry. Yeah, yeah, let's share my phone and we will do a small demo. I'll go over the features that we have in the Dyn app. Yeah, so today when a user opens download the Dyn app, the first things that you will see is the welcome screen which basically saying to the user, you need an invitation from the restaurant owner. An invitation can be using the invite code or using a direct link. So in our demo, Ren, she has a restaurant called Pixelino Cafe in New York on fifth Avenue. And I will jump to my apartment in New York. These are my saved addresses. So I'm Jumping to New York and Chen shared with me the code, the invite code of her restaurant Pixelino. Welcome screen of the Pixelino Cafe and I'm joining to that restaurant and the first screen that I will see, you don't need to do anything. So what I can do here on that screen, first of all I can change whether I want to pick up or delivery. And I want you to notice that this restaurant delivered by and we see a small logo DoorDash. We have recently we added an integration with third party delivery services such as DoorDash. It's open only in us. It's a new thing so I encourage you to try it. But in my case I want to go to New York and to pick up my my order. So I will add few focaccias and I will add the spicy pepperoni pizza and I will add three tiramisu and I can see everything I added in my cart and I can also see that I have a discount hand configured a discount for people who are ordering from the mobile. 10% discount only if I order from mobile. And the idea behind this is to encourage customer to order directly from the dine app, directly from the restaurant and not through third party food ordering applications that I'm sure you're familiar with is taking very high commissions. So she preferred to give me 10% than giving 30, 40% to third party company. So I'm going to the checkout. You can see that everything, all the contacting for my phone, everything is pre filled and I will give her back 5% tip, not 10 and I will proceed to payment. I prefer to pay with cash because I'm going there anyway and I see my order details and that's all. And here I see at the bottom you see a small dialogue saying that I have an active order from the Pixelino cafe. If I go to the account tab we can see that there is an active order and the estimated time that this order will be fulfilled. If I have some special requests to the restaurant, I can click on the contact and I can contact directly with the restaurant, whether with the phone or chat or I can navigate there and direct face to face. What else? Here I have saved addresses as we saw before. I have also saved my credit cards and yeah, this basically all for this demo. Now you notice that I see here only restaurants that I was invited to. But if I'll jump to London I will see here the Marketplace of Daim or the discovery feature. We opened it in London. And what does it mean that here I see restaurants that I was not invited to. And it's just restaurants that providing services, whether it's a pickup service or delivery or table reservations and they located in a certain distance from me or they're providing delivery to my location. I can also filter using filters such as different cuisines or by different dietary. And I also can search using the search option by dish name or by restaurant name. So if, for example by dish name I will write pizza and it will show me all the places that serve pizza, which is kind of amazing. So in that way your restaurants will be exposed to more users and you will gain new customers, not only those you invite directly to your website or to your mobile phone. Mobile app. Now let's stop sharing and what we see already a few questions, but before we answer them, what we want you to do, we want you to download now the Dyn app and check your business on the Dyn app. You're supposed to be already there because you are the owner of the restaurant. So you supposed to see your business there. So let's take 2 minutes, 2 minutes and do this. Meanwhile, we will try to answer the questions.
Now you can also download the app by scanning the QR code here in the screen. And also we sent you a link right now in the chat so you can download it from the link. But also also of course you can search for Dine app for Dine in the App Store and Google Play and then you can download it. Make sure that once you download the app you log in with your WIX email. This means that it's the same account that you have for your business in Wix and check your restaurant in the Home tab. Once you're done, please just write us in the chat that you're done and we will be able to continue. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us. And we have some questions.
We have some questions. Yeah, I see people are writing down, which is great. Does the order history allow for reminder messages and can orders from the history be scheduled weekly, monthly? It's a nice feature. Currently users cannot schedule orders, but it's
a nice feature if your business supports schedule order. We do have that, but you cannot do like every week in the same time the same order.
Yeah, but it's kind of cool. We will think about it
next.
Tigran already answered this. Does WIX integrate with any back of the house integrations and order that triggers a ticket printed? Too complicated. It's less related to Dine, but our team will answer this question either. Can this app work for someone who does only independent deliveries for multiple restaurants. So basically, this person wants to start delivery service for local restaurants.
Similar.
Okay, this is an interesting question. I think you can try to build an app in our market.
