My name's Josh Tyson and I'm a photojournalist. I'm a writer and I'm an activist. My first experience with journalism came when I was backpacking through Southeast Asia after exploring the enchanted rainforests of Borneo. I was outraged by the biofuel industry logging the rainforest. I felt betrayed, having subscribed to the idea of green energy and then coming to the understanding that it was actually one of the worst things happening on the planet for deforestation. That led to me writing an article that was picked up by Celsius and that was my first paid gig. When I moved to Los Angeles, I was struck by the urban decay facing off with the excessive wealth, and I decided to get involved with organisations down skid row and learn the stories of these people's lives and bring humanity to issues of homelessness and urban conflict. Injustice motivates me as a storyteller. It gives me the drive to dig into stories that need to be told. I'm currently documenting the alarming state of drought in California. California's running out of water and people need to understand that the way they use water affects not just how long they're going to have it, but also the natural environment. As a photojournalist, WIX allows me to take my work on the road and still submit stories and present them in a beautiful way. WIX made it easy to get my work in front of a global audience.
