In this short testimonial, Sean Gardner and Stephen Sloss, co‑founders of Mary Todd Hair Co., recount how they met in 1999 and built their salon with a focus on creating a homely, comfortable space for clients. Initially their online presence was limited to a phone number and address, but after adopting Wix they integrated Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pandora, and added e‑commerce capabilities. They describe how Wix’s tools aligned with their brand identity, expanded their reach, and helped grow the business.

I'm Sean Gardner. I'm Stephen Sloss and together we're Mary Todd. We met in 99. I'd been living in country for a year. I was still trying to build up my clientele in the shop we were in. And, you know, any chance I could get, I'd get into the back room there where I'd be hanging out with Sean and we'd just be sticking labels on products. We would
stand there and talk about how we could do this better and how we could make it a place that was fair for everybody that was working with us. The Saturday or Sunday afternoon, the banner goes up on the front that this space is for rent, and within a week,
we had it. From the minute somebody walks in the door, we want them to immediately feel like they're taking somewhere that is homely and comfortable, that they feel like they can relax or be inspired. Initially, the website to us was really, to be honest, just a phone number, an address.
With wix, we've been able to integrate Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pandora. So that just opened us up to the world. Plus the integration of the E Commerce. That was huge for us. The site flows
perfectly with who we are and what we do.
I think that if we had listened to anybody at any one point that said, you can't do this, we wouldn't have done it. Don't be afraid to fail because you will triumph at some point.
