Intel's TeraFab would be a 1-terawatt AI compute facility, 50 times today's global capacity, requiring $25 billion and generating $4 billion annually. An MIT researcher who built early neural-network chips calls it the most exciting thing in the world and inevitable.

Intel says its ability to design, fabricate, and package chips makes TeraFab actually work. The first pilot phase for TeraFab is $25 billion. That can mean revenue for Intel of $4 billion a year. Reminding everybody, TeraFab is 1 terawatt per year of AI compute, 50 times the current global output of 20 gigawatts. Pretty amazing, surpassing all the fabs on Earth. Yes.
It's so crazy. The most exciting thing in the world to me, and I'm kind of a chip geek. And I was actually one of the first people, I was the first at MIT to build a neural network AI chip way, way back in the early days. And I just freaking love this, but you could see this coming a mile away. There's no other way to get it done. And this is like the first pitch of the first inning of this battle. So it's going to be really, really fun to watch it evolve.
