Apple sued OpenAI for stealing trade secrets to build AI hardware called Johnny Ives. The lawsuit isn't really about protecting IP, the speakers argue, but about slowing competitors while Apple catches up in post-smartphone devices. Filing in Northern California makes winning nearly impossible, suggesting desperation.
Apple sues OpenAI for trade secret theft. They just sued OpenAI in federal court, accusing them of stealing trade secrets to build their upcoming AI hardware, i.e., Johnny Ives. I mean, this is really a fight for the post-smartphone device marketplace.
I think this is Apple trying to slow things down while it catches up.
Yeah, I noticed they filed in Northern California too. And I was, it's very, very hard to win a case like this in Northern California. In fact, you almost have to be desperate. To file one of these. What they're trying to do is hold on to what they've got, which they believe, you know, really is their property, and keep more people from running out the door, but at the expense of new people coming in the door. So it's, yeah, it's a pretty aggressive move, and you have to be pretty hurting to, to do it.
