James Smith demonstrates the "Grouped Products" add-on for CF Pro Tools. The add-on lets vendors bundle products so selecting one automatically adds others to the order (useful for paid trials, subscriptions, shipping charges, and product bundles). Demonstrated use case: a $7 seven-day trial that creates a $37/month subscription after trial, or a $37 one-time purchase for unlimited access. The demo explains product setup (a subscription product plus a one-time trial product), switching options on the order form, and other uses like conditional shipping charges.

Hey there, I'm James Smith. In this video I want to do a quick demonstration of the grouped products add on. And this add on is great when you want to group products together so that when somebody picks one item they have to purchase the other item. It works great for things like paid trials. So the order form we have, for example here is one where I want to sell a paid trial to a membership and might be great if you have like a paid trial version, you know, hey, give me seven dollars, we'll give you seven days access and then it's just 37 bucks a month after that. Or you can go ahead and pay now and get one, just make a one time payment and get unlimited access. So that's the offer that I've got here, $37 a month after seven days. Or you can pay one time payment of $37. And so what we want to have is that if somebody picks the monthly membership that they get charged, excuse me, get charged seven for seven days, they get charged $7. And then they also get, after that they get a subscription created for the 37 do per month. And it just shows us $37 per month after seven days. So the way this works is we're actually picking, this is a subscription product and then we've got a one time product. But what happens down below is when you pick the subscription product, you're actually purchasing two products. We've got the subscription and then we've got a one time product for the $7. And so if we look at our product setup, that's what we have here. We have our subscription product and then we have a one time product for $7. And then we've got our third option which just a one time fee and get unlimited access. Now you could use this for other things like shipping charges and things like that. But this is kind of what it's best for is doing something like a paid trial. So that's what this does here. And we can see if we switch options, then we just get our one time payment. But if we switch back, we get our two products added. And so these products are grouped together and that's why it's called the grouped products add on. So you have a group of products. When you pick one, you automatically get the second product or third, fourth, fifth product added to your order form. It could be one product, could be, you know, or groups of, could be a group of two, could be a group of five different products. You can do product bundles, you can do shipping charges and say, hey, if somebody picks this one product from this order form that I want to charge them $7.95 shipping. If they don't pick any, you know, if they pick a different product, then I don't want to charge them anything. So it can, you can group products together, but works great if you want to do something like a paid trial. So hopefully that helps show you again what the grouped products add on does, and hopefully you put it to good wall.
