Short YouTube monologue advising on video hosting choices: the speaker distinguishes two primary use cases—sales/landing pages vs. members areas—and recommends against embedding YouTube on sales pages because YouTube promotes its own platform (including related videos). For sales pages the speaker recommends private/embed-friendly hosts like Vimeo or Wistia; for members areas YouTube is acceptable due to free hosting and auto-scaling.

Hey, so you probably got this question of which video hosting service should I use for my sales letters for my members areas and all that. And I get this question quite a bit and there's actually a few things that you need to keep in mind. One of those is what is the purpose? The video hosting used for a sales page or a landing page should be much different than what you use for a member's area, or could be much different than what you use for a member's area. So, sales page, the key things are that the service that you use is meant to host embedded videos and that they're private and that it doesn't give you some sort, you know, related videos at the end. So if you're using YouTube on your sales page, you're doing it wrong. YouTube is always going to try and get people over to their platform, not on your page. If you're using it for members areas though, that actually works pretty well. It's free hosting and the service is really good and it kind of auto scales and does all the things for you. So if you're using a members area, you can use YouTube. If you're not using a members area and you're doing it on sales page, make sure that you're using something like Vimeo or Wistia instead.
