This is a YouTube video titled "Can your dog help you grow your business?" containing a monologue from June 23, 2024, where the speaker reflects on lessons learned from training a puppy and relates those lessons to business growth, emphasizing patience and consistent effort. The content is a personal narrative rather than a conversation.
So I got asked the other day the craziest question, which is, has my dog taught me anything in business? And I thought about it for a second. I was like, no, that's wild. It's a dog. What does that have to do with, like, growing accounting firms? And then I thought about it. When I first got my dog, it was during a very volatile time in my life. I just lost a family member, and I got this dog just prior to that. It was a puppy. So, you know, if I didn't let it outside, it was going to pee itself. And it really helped me through this time. But if you've ever gotten a new puppy, you know that training them is really strenuous, especially if you live alone by yourself, and it's your first dog ever. You don't know what to do. So I got all the books, all the tools, all the resources, right? Watched all the YouTube videos, and I spent so much time with this dog. But what I've noticed is all the time that I spent with it, the dog didn't get better immediately, and it took a couple months. However, after this couple months of training and time and energy, I have the best relationship possible. So the thing that I learned with business from this dog is you're going to do the work now. The results will come later.
