Before a sales call, get your environment right: find a quiet space, position your camera at eye level, and keep notes out of sight so you can maintain eye contact. Small setup details make the difference between distracted and present.
Couple things that we want to do before the call. First one is be super prepared. Calls from the car, coffee shop don't do that. You know, like, you want to be in a quiet room. You want to have full attention. I even even take my phone, which is normally on, like, a little, like, phone stand. I can literally face it away from me, so I can't look at it. Some people like to take notes on pen and paper. Personally use the computer. And I have two screens set up, and so where the notes are, I put right underneath the camera so I look like I'm looking at the camera while I'm typing my notes. This does a couple different things, right? It is you are establishing eye contact that makes people think you're paying attention. Sometimes my camera's here and, like, I have the video that I'm looking at a person here, and it looks like I'm not looking at them, even though I'm literally staring directly at their photo. So whenever I, I, I've known I've got better rapport when I'm staring directly at the camera.
