In this brief presentation, a professional futurist explains that everyone already practices futurist thinking in everyday life—through career development, parenting, and retirement planning. By recognizing these natural futurist actions, individuals can consciously adopt a futurist mindset. The speaker urges listeners to append “+ futurist” to any professional title, which will help them identify future opportunities and think differently about personal and business decisions.

And then you need to think of yourself as a futurist. And for me, this is, this is really important. I am a professional futurist. I've studied, I've written, I've joined the association. I do this work every day. I am a professional futurist, but my position is that everyone is a natural futurist. If you, if you've ever done anything for your career, you've gone and learned something or done a university degree or an MBA or something so that you, you can learn and your career can develop, you're a futurist. If you are a parent and you've had children, you've prepared their education, you're a futurist. If you put money aside for your retirement, you're a futurist. So we are all natural futurists because we do things in our lives to make our futures better or easier. We can become better at that in our personal lives as well as in our business lives if we start to think like a futurist. So whatever is your title, and I know we have one or two futurists on the call, but whatever is your title, add plus futurist to it, because if you start to think like a futurist, then you'll start to identify things in a different way, and that's really, really quite important.
