How to talk about risks, tip number 2: be proactive. When talking about risks, don't leave it a long time to talk about a new risk that you've identified. Don't wait a long time to talk to a person who needs to know about a risk. The sooner you can talk about it, usually the better it is for everybody. If you're not proactive when talking about risks, there's a good chance that the risk will become an issue before you've had a chance to do anything about it. If you don't talk about risks proactively, you'll end up being managed by the risks rather than being able to manage them yourself. So when communicating with people about risks, be proactive. Talk to them sooner rather than later. How do you do this? Well, when you identify a risk, if it's important or likely to happen soon, talk about it. Identify the people you want to talk with and talk to them about it quickly. Don't just write the risk on a list and keep it there waiting for some future potential Let somebody know when there's a chance they may be impacted by something that's going to happen. So when you're talking about risks, don't leave it to the last minute. Be proactive.
