How to update stakeholders tip number 11: talk about risks before they become issues. Nobody likes a status update that's a surprise. Nobody wants to hear that something went wrong after it has gone wrong. If you know there is a risk of something happening in your work on your project, make sure you talk about that in your status updates before it becomes an issue. How do you do this? Well, you choose it as one of the few items that is going to impact the audience. If there's a risk of a delay, talk about that delay, and talk about what you're doing to try and avoid it, because nobody likes surprises. So if you're updating stakeholders, make sure you're talking about risks before they become issues.
