How to write great emails, tip number 8: list actions as actions. When you want someone to take an action, when you're including information about actions you need other people to take, label them as actions in the email. If you don't do this, it's very difficult for someone to distinguish between general information, background, what you're writing, and an action that you need them to take. It doesn't jump out at them from the page. So how do you list actions as actions? Literally label them. Write the word action, put it in bold before the sentence that says what the action is. If you maybe even highlight it in red, but write the word action, bold it, and then it will stand out to the person reading the message. So if you want to write a great email and it's going to have an action in it, make sure you label the actions as an action.
