This is a short multi-speaker excerpt from a YouTube episode titled "Ep 103 - It's Good to Ask Questions!" (uploaded by Chris Larsen). The speakers discuss investor diligence practices — specifically that investors who ask thorough questions early build better understanding and confidence in sponsors and operators, which in turn leads to stronger long-term sponsor–investor relationships and advocacy.
I talk to investors, and about once a month, I get an investor who just runs me through the ringer. I get on our initial call, and for 30 minutes they ask me questions. And I usually compliment them at the end, and sometimes they're like, hey, I'm really sorry, and I say no, because I look at it. The more education.
That an investor does on the front end.
The better that.
An investor understands a sponsor in a deal and.
A sector, the.
More confidence that that investor is going to have.
And the better it's going to be.
For both the sponsor.
Or the operator.
As well as the investor in the long run.
I totally agree. And these sponsors that I have kind of done that too. Basically, once I understand them and I check off the box and go, yes, I become, like, their biggest fan. And I'm like, telling everyone about, you got it out so and so, because. Yeah, because basically, I really, really understand at that point, and I do feel really confident. So, yeah, that's great. And that's great that you take the time to do that.
