A short YouTube monologue (2025) by Chris Larsen arguing that mortgages secured by single-family homes currently offer strong, consistent returns due to solid market fundamentals, while noting the practical difficulty of scaling direct rental ownership (being a landlord for many homes).
We scoured the market. The best thing, the number one best thing we found to pay consistent returns that are competitive in the market today were mortgages based on single family homes. Why? Because single family, you know, I can drill down into numbers endlessly. I geek out on the economics of it, but the fundamentals are so ridiculously strong in the marketplace today. The problem with single family is it's hard to. To be the landlord for a thousand freaking houses. Yeah. Nobody wants. Nobody wants that. I always joke. I said, you know, anybody that owns more than five rentals says, I wish I didn't have to do this. Like, it's not, it's not fun.
