An engineer from Apple explains why empathy matters in communication and investing. Translate technical ideas so your mom understands them. Real-world analogies work better than jargon when pitching unfamiliar assets like senior living or bitcoin mining.
Empathy and relatability is very critical. And then also simplicity. That's something that I learned at Apple. How to simplify things, complicated tech piece of technology into something that your mom could understand. And so the kind of investments I do now a lot of times this is the first time people are investing in this type of asset category, whether it's senior living, bitcoin mining, oil and gas, whatever it is. I love to just think about the problem of how do I explain this in terms that people can relate to? I think by being deeply empathetic with who somebody is, what they are. So my background as an engineer and data, I can relate to other fellow engineers in Silicon Valley. I think that's, you know, that's actually a very big portion of our investor base. I can relate to them. They're very analytical, they love thinking about the math of it and I love to present that but also relating it to, you know, their real world experiences.
