In this brief tutorial, Christie Renee Hawkins demonstrates a quick technique for adding gold shimmer to an abstract cross painting. She explains that she uses Liquitex Gold Metallic Medium as a glaze applied with a dry brush—no water is added. The painting already has texture from palette‑knife work and modeling paste that was allowed to dry. Okay, just want to show you a quick video of how you can add a little bit of shimmer to your artwork. This is the Liquitex Gold Metallic Medium, and I've already got my gold abstract cross on here. I've added a little bit in to the white paint, but now I'm going to come back and I'm going to treat it more like a glaze. And I'm using just a dry brush, there's no water in this, and we're just gonna lightly kind of drag this over. There's some palette knife work underneath here. We added texture into our artwork with some modeling paste, let that dry, finished up with the cross and the paint, and now I'm just adding in some finishing touches, some little extra shimmers of gold. And just thought you would like to see that fun little tip with a new medium that I found and I love.
