What should you be doing before nursing school starts? In this video, I'm going to give you three things that you have to focus your time on to set yourself up for success in nursing school. Let's dive in. So congratulations. You have been accepted into nursing school. I am so, so excited for you. This is fantastic. You are going to have an absolute blast, my friend. You're going to do great. So let's walk through some key things that you need to do to get ready to set yourself up for success. Now, the first one is you have to colle all of your supplies before school starts. Ideally, here's the thing. You don't want to be scrambling in the first couple weeks of your program trying to get things together. Like nursing school, you're gonna find is going to be drinking from a fire hose, basically. Actually, we had a Nursing Essence member last night tell me that. It's basically like you just open the fire hydrant and it's like every water spewing out everywhere into your face, like it's not actually drinking from a fire hose, it's actually drinking from the fire hydrant. That's how it is. There is a lot going on in a very short amount of time. And so you really want to make sure that you are trying to get things done as early as possible so that you don't have to deal with those things when you start school. And getting all your supplies together and all your stuff beforehand is one of those things. So make sure you take a look at the list of things that your school requires, whether it be textbooks or clinical supplies like your stethoscope and your pen light and make sure you got a ton of pens and post it notes and notebooks and whatever else you need. Highlighters, all of the things. Make sure that you have everything ready before you start nursing school so you're not running to Walmart every week trying to find and collect the things that you didn't quite have or hadn't prepared for yet. So just make sure that you have everything. When you start to save yourself a ton of time later, nursing school just simply moves too fast. You are not going to have time to go to the grocery store every day or go to Walmart to collect your supplies every week. That's not how it works. You really want to make sure that you are spending your time wisely and productively and stewarding it well. So you want to be focused on nursing school when you are in nursing school. So try to get everything done as much as you can beforehand. The second thing you want to do is make sure that you go through your syllabus or your class calendar. Whatever your school gives you, go through it. Take a look at what your schedule is going to look like and kind of how life is going to go and set expectations with your, your family. This is huge, my friend. If you watched our last video on what you need to know before starting nursing school, I talked a lot about this concept of really stewarding your time well, managing your time well, and making a plan before you start nursing school. It's so important because it really is that fire hydrant idea. When you start nursing school, there's going to be so much information coming at you so fast. That's really where your time is going to go. You're not going to have time necessarily to do the laundry every day or do the dishes every day, or even make dinner. To be honest, there is a lot of studying that needs to happen in nursing school. That's going to be where most of your focus is. So it's really important that you take a look at that class calendar, take a look at your syllabus and make a plan with your family and set realistic expectations with them. Say, hey, look like this is what it's going to take for me to pass nursing school. And who can do the dishes, who can do the laundry, who can cook dinner? Try to get those expectations out of the way in those conversations, out of the.
