In this video, I am giving you three things you absolutely must plan for during nursing school that you probably haven't thought about yet. You really need to be planning for these three things to help you stay more organized and sane through nursing school and because I do not want you to be stressed or overwhelmed, my friend. Now hit that subscribe button and click the notification bell and let's dive in. You know the feeling you get when you have everything planned out and you know what's coming next? I know it can be super tedious to write everything out on your planner, but seriously friend, the freedom you get knowing exactly what you're doing next, when you'll study, what day that birthday party is, and what time your clinical is at, that is the best. You have two options in nursing school. Planning one day at a time, not knowing what's happening next week, or being intentional with how you plan your time. If you never plan out what you need to get done, you'll never know when you'll have time to sleep or study or when you'll fit in time to write those care plans. All you know is that you have clinical tomorrow, six care plans due on Monday, and an exam on Tuesday. But that's about it. Talk about stress inducing. And that's not the life I want for you in nursing school. I want you to be intentional with how you manage your time so you know exactly when that due date is, when you need to pick up the kiddos from school, and when you need to study for your exam next week. Knowledge truly is power, and so is planning. The more you plan your time, the more freedom you'll find that you actually have during nursing school. So now that I've hopefully convinced you how important it is to plan your time and manage it well, let me tell you the three things that you should put on your schedule. And if you are a Nursing SOS member, make sure that you check out the nursing school planner that we have for you inside the Nursing SOS membership community. You also get the full time management course that walks you through how to use it and how to manage your time better step by step. It's pretty sweet, so make sure that you check it out. So the first thing you need to write in your planner is when all of your deadlines are. I know you're like, well Christina, duh, that's obvious. Of course I know when my papers and my care plans are due and when my exams are. But my friend, that's only level one. I want you to up level your planning game and time Management, are you ready? When I say plan your deadlines, I don't mean the deadlines that your instructor said. I'm talking about the deadlines that you set set for yourself. So if your instructor has set a deadline for you to submit your paper in three weeks, when is your deadline to get that done? By personally, I like to give myself at least a week of buffer time before that big paper is due. So for me, that paper would be done in two weeks. That's my personal deadline. Same thing goes for care plans. If you know your care plans are due every Thursday, let's say maybe you set a personal deadline to get them done done by Tuesday. So plan out your personal deadlines to make sure that you get things done ahead of schedule. Now, the second thing you absolutely need to plan for, and one of the biggest things I see nursing students struggle with, is planning on studying a little bit every single day. Here's what students tell me. I didn't leave myself enough study time. Or I didn't want to study because it was all too overwhelming, it was too much to do at once, or I didn't see the point of studying. I was going to fail that exam anyway. Friend, listen to me. You are sabotaging your own success. If you're procrastinating and putting off studying, it does you no good to put it off until the last minute because you will not do as well as you want to. But you already knew that, which is why you didn't study in the first place. It's a dangerous cycle. You don't believe in yourself, so you don't study. And because you don't study, you don't do well on your exam. And then that gives you more evidence that you're not good enough and the cycle just keeps going. So here's my solution for you, friends. Two things really get your mind right and stop telling yourself that you're not good enough and that you can't do it. Instead, start telling yourself, I can figure this out. Seriously, just that slight switch will be life changing for you. And if you need more inspiration for that, be sure to check out this video right here. And the second solution is to schedule time to study every single day. This can be a little bit or a lot. Even if you're just reviewing and flipping through your notes to get a quick refresher. That's better than nothing. But every single day you need to schedule time to study, even if it's just for a few minutes. Because, friend, if you do that one simple practice, you will feel so much better come exam time when you're not stressed out and cramming the night before your exam. And the third thing you need to plan for is super important too, of course. But before we get there, I want to give a shout out to Rachel for our YouTube comment of the week, which says love, I've watched a few videos before I found this one and you helped me so much in less than five minutes. Thank you. Oh Rachel, thank you so much. I am so, so happy to hear that, Rachel. I am so glad that I get to come alongside you and help you through nursing school. I love reading your comments every week, so keep them coming friend. Not only do they help tell YouTube that our videos are awesome, obviously and more students should see them, but they also make me super happy and they make me smile and I love getting to know you. So thank you. And now the third thing that you absolutely must plan for is when you are going to go grocery shopping, what you are going to eat every day. Seriously, this is huge. I hear this all the time from students that they're living off pizza delivery. That's fine if you really love pizza that much, but it's not so good if you're just using that as a last resort because you didn't plan properly. I never want you to feel out of control with your life and that's what that is. If you're not in control of your time, you didn't plan your grocery shopping and you didn't plan your meals, you're probably not going to feel like you're in control. Or at least that's what happens to me when I don't plan my time well. So I really want you to plan at least two weeks of meals at a time and plan to go grocery shopping at least once a week. And you don't need to do anything Pinterest fancy either. No need to buy those colored containers and organize your carrots and your broccoli into the right compartments if that's not your jam. I'm not sure if I would ever do that in my life. So no need to get fancy with it if you don't want to. So don't use that as an excuse to hold you back. Seriously. My process is to write on my grocery list on the back of a junk mail envelope and go shopping once a week. Then the food stays in the fridge or wherever until I'm ready ready to cook it. My toddler doesn't get fancy packed snacks. I usually just take a handful of goldfish crackers out of the box and hand them to him along with a banana. We're pretty laid back around here. Now if you want to see my full meal planning process and how I do this step by step, be sure to check this video out right here. As long as you're planning out what you're going to eat for the next two weeks and grocery shopping once per week, you should be golden my friend. That is my hope for you.
