BEHIND THE SCENES (HAPPY THANKSGIVING!)

Christina Rafano films her Thanksgiving weekend: visiting grandparents, making turkey sandwiches, shopping for her son Daniel's clothes, and preparing dishes to bring. Her family decorates a "thankful tablecloth" each year to record what they're grateful for, and they listen to Adventures in Odyssey constantly.

Happy Thanksgiving. So today we're gonna do something a little bit differently. I wanted to take you behind the scenes into how we kind of prep for Thanksgiving. I've never done a vlog before so we are going to do this and see how it goes. I'm gonna bring you behind the scenes and show you kind of what life is like around these parts of the Rafano family. So right now it's about 7am and we are getting ready to go to Pop Pop and Grandma's house. So I just got Daniel into the car seat so we are all good to go. So we are headed to Grandma and Pop Pops. That's my parents. We call them Grandma and Pop Pop because of course you need little kid names, right? So we walk with them a few days a week. So we do go down there a couple days a week and walk to hang out and have fun. And Daniel loves it. He has a blast. So that is what we are going to do. So now we are here at Grandma and Pop Pops. So I will show you around before we walk. We've got some really amazing things happening. This being one of them, it's so exciting. A berry. Merry Christmas. If you're familiar with this, write love in the comments below. I want to know if I'm not the only one that's just so in love with this December calendar. So we will be over here at Grandma and Pop Pop's house for Thanksgiving and check out what I just found. The turkey. Woohoo. So now we just got home. It's about 10 o' clock. So we're gonna have some lunchtime and get Daniel down for his nap. And then I am going to do the dishes because I need to do the dishes and probably some laundry too to get ready for Thanksgiving. So we are having turkey sandwiches and cranberry for lunch and Daniel is getting his special messed up sandwich. Deconstructed sandwich with bread to tomato, broccoli and some cranberry. So Daniel didn't sleep much for his nap. So I wasn't able to do the dishes with the laundry. I didn't get that stuff done so I'll do it later. So right now we're in the car and we are headed to a clothing store. Baby's store. Is it babies like children? Like a secondhand kids store which we love. It's really cool. It has lots of stuff. So we've got Daniel on the back. Hi Daniel. And Matthew's here and yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun. So we're kinda getting stuff Ready for Thanksgiving day and, you know, shopping for the holidays. So we love Black Friday. Every year, we plan out what stores we're gonna go to and when and what we're gonna get. Everything. We have it all planned out. So I really like going to stores before. So that's why we're going to this kid store here to know kind of what the prices are. So because I like to have my plan all down and make sure that we're getting all the clothes we need for Daniel and everything, I actually buy most of the clothes for the year, so on Black Friday, because I feel like a lot of the deals are really good. So I don't usually buy clothes throughout the year. So usually we just get them all during the holidays and then wear them all through the year. All right, so I think we did pretty well. What do you think, bud? Do you think we did good? Did we find you some things? We got if he'll show you. One red shirt, One red striped shirt. Do you want to show off the other red shirt that you got? It has a fire truck on it. Does it have a fire truck on it?
Wow.
How many is that? We have one red shirt, and we have. How many is this, Daniel? Two. Very good. And then we have a gray striped shirt. Yes. That's where a shirt goes. It goes right on you right there. Oh, that's quite the face. That's quite the face, buddy. Yeah. You showing off your new clothes. All the new clothes you got. Daddy. You see Daddy? You see mommy in the phone and daddy in the phone? Where's Daniel? You're Daniel? Can you say hi? Hi. Hi. Do you want to push the red button? You push the red button? That's right. Yeah. It's the first day of vlogging ever. Harder than I thought. It's hard to, like, record your life, you know, it's weird to film in front of people. I'm really going to have to get used to that. If you liked it and if you want more, tell me in the comments. So what's our plan for Thanksgiving?
See, I think we're going to my parents in the morning, Right.
I think so.
And call them and see what time they want us there. I don't know.
Up in the air. We are very fortunate to have both of our parents living in town. So we have actually our whole family here, with the exception of your brother.
Yep.
And his wife.
But in Thanksgiving, at your family, at grandma and pop.
Pops. In the afternoon.
In the afternoon. So probably after Daniel's nap.
Yeah, after nap time.
Okay. So my parents then back here for a nap. And then. Your parents.
Really gotta rewire your brain when you have babies because everything.
Oh, and we need to bring the tablecloth.
Yes, I did wanna talk about that. Did you talk about that tablecloth? I didn't talk about that yet. That's amazing. Actually, I should go grab it.
Sure.
Okay, I'll go grab it.
Okay, you'll go grab that. And I'll just sit here.
Okay. You start off because this is from you.
Oh, okay. I'm not really sure when it started, but our family. Every Thanksgiving, we started a tradition where we have a Thanksgiving tablecloth. And every year. Oh, there it is. Every year, people will come around the table with different pens and. What are those called? The puff paints.
Puff paints or something like finger paints.
Yeah. Sharpies. Etc. And then write what they're thankful for, draw what they're thankful for.
That's mine from. When Was that? Oh, 2015. So we had already been married for a while.
Yeah. People put hand prints or everything like that. Put.
Oh, Titus.
Yeah. Put a couple dates as well and just basically start filling up the tablecloth. And when we got married, we started with our own. And that's the one that Christina is showing off right now.
Our first Thanksgiving. Okay, so that was. We got married in 2013.
Yes.
Yeah, that sounds right. That sounds right. Okay. 2013.
Yeah. So we'll need to bring this to both our family sides now, so they'll. It fills up pretty quick. But, yeah, that's the plan is every year, Thanksgiving people fill out the Thanksgiving tablecloth.
The thankful Thanksgiving tablecloth. Sure.
Yep.
So it kind of documents life because you can go back and check out what everyone wrote year after year. So that's a very exciting tradition. Another exciting tradition I wanted to talk about was. Do you know?
No.
Adventures in Odyssey.
Oh, okay.
And how we listen to it.
Probably listen to it daily now.
24 7.
Yeah.
Basically 24 7. When I'm not listening to Christmas music with Daniel. Yeah. It's pretty much Adventures in Odyssey all the time. If you love Adventures in Odyssey as much as we do, write it in the comments to let us know if you have no idea what I'm talking about. No big deal. No. No big deal. Google it. And you're gonna fall in love. Especially if you have kids.
That is what I grew up with. So we'll probably talk more about that in the future.
But, yeah. Cause it's the best. I study if you have kids. But even if you don't have kids, because, I mean, you still listen to it.
I do still listen to it alone.
All the time. And so do I, actually. Even when Daniel's not here. Even when you're not here.
When I travel a lot. When I fall asleep, too, so I love that.
I think that's the best. So, Thanksgiving wrap up?
Did you get everything done that way you needed to?
Yeah. Well, the thing is that it's not here. That's kind of really get off easy when you're not hosting Thanksgiving dinner, because we really didn't have much to prep for.
Oh, we do need a cook.
We do need to cook everything we're supposed to bring.
What are we supposed to bring? Rice and vegetables.
Rice and vegetables.
Do we even have vegetables?
Yeah, I bought broccoli and carrots. Then we'll be ready for tomorrow.
Do we need to bring anything to my parents?
I didn't ask.
Okay. So that would be a no.
Okay, good. That's a no. The baby.
Yes.
All right. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Bye. Bye. Because I talk like a toddler. Bye. Bye.
