DIC treatment focuses on finding and fixing the underlying cause while replacing depleted clotting factors with fresh frozen plasma and platelets. Anticoagulants may help early on, though they're controversial when patients are already bleeding. IV fluids, antibiotics, and rapid intervention are critical because DIC can turn fatal fast.

The main goal of treatment for DIC is to identify and treat the underlying cause. If DIC is caught early enough, anticoagulants can be used to stop the initial clotting process but this can be controversial because there is often hemorrhaging present at the same time because of the depletion of clotting factors and the exhaustion of the clotting cascade. Replenishing the depleted blood and clotting factors with fresh frozen plasma and platelets is needed to IV fluids can be given to try to replace the fluid and the volume losses as well as make maintain vital signs especially blood pressure. All of the clotting will dramatically reduce blood flow to the organs so helping replace the blood, the fluid and the clotting factors will help increase blood flow and reduce hemorrhaging. IV antibiotics may also be used to help prevent infection and get the patient on the right track to healing. DAC is a medical emergency and can quickly lead to death so it's really important that it's caught early and reversed as soon as possible.
