Nursing students should study about two hours for every hour in class each week. A three-hour lecture means six hours of study time. Projects and papers need extra time beyond this baseline.

How many hours should you study in nursing school? A good baseline to start out with is to study for two hours outside of class for every hour you're in class per week. So if your lecture is three hours once a week, you'll want to plan to study for about six hours each week for that class. If you have a big project or a research paper to write, you'll need to increase that time. But studying for two hours for every hour you're in class for your exams will give you a really good starting point to work off of and help you be more prepared for your nursing school school exams.
