What is up? My friend Christina here with nursingschoolofsuccess.com and congratulations on being on Christmas break for making it this far. In this video, I'm gonna walk you through three tips that I've really got for you that really, really helped me during nursing school vacations and breaks to really relax, take a step back and actually enjoy it. So that's what we're gonna talk about today in this video, how to relax over break during nursing school. So my first tip for you is to put your phone away and not just like pop it in your pocket, pop it in your purse, pop it in your bag. I'm talking about putting it in a totally different room where you don't even see it, you don't hear it and it's just non existent for however long you have it there. So I want it to be totally out of sight and out of mind. You know, you're like attached to your phone during nursing school, got emails come in and assignments that you have to do that you can even just do on your phone. Talking to your nursing school buddies all the time. Girlfriend, just put that phone away in a totally other room. Out of sight, out of mind, don't even think about it. This is really going to help you calm down in your mind and de stress because you're not attached to it all the time. You're not on social media, email, you check in on any new assignments posted for the next term. I don't even want you to be thinking about that right now. Just take a minute and spend time with yourself, with your family, have some fun and enjoy that quality time that you now get. Because you're on winter break and you're on break from nursing school. So really, really take this time and soak it all up. Pop that phone away, put it in another room, don't even think about it, leave it there, put it on silent, put it on airplane mode. Even better. So even get any messages until you turn it back on. Just keep it out of the way so you're not even thinking about it and you don't even see it. Now my second tip for you is to schedule your time. Now this is kind of a weird one. Most people don't do it. It did help me however, so I think that it might be helpful for you. So during nursing school, as you know, your time is very, very scheduled. It's very structured. You've got things that you've got to do during very specific times. You've got lecture, class, study time, plan, clinical plan, all These things, and it can be really difficult. At least it was for me. So I'm thinking it might be for you as well to come down from that in nursing school, that super scheduled time, and come on to a holiday break, Christmas break vacation, and have all of this free time with nothing to do. That was really, really tough for me. So I do like having a plan. I am a super duper planner. I like scheduling things into my breaks. Not like crazy stressful things or anything like that. No, that's not what I'm saying. Saying like fun things that you enjoy doing that is actually gonna make it feel like a break for you. So just pop those into your schedule so you at least have some structure and you're not waking up in the morning and kind of getting depressed. Like, I don't know what I'm supposed to do today. So then you have a plan of action. You kind of know, okay, so I'm gonna go shopping today, or I'm gonna wrap gifts today, or I'm gonna do this, that, or the other fun things. So schedule in some things just to kind of maintain that structure. Because as you know, it can be really, really easy on a holiday break or a break from nursing school to just sit on the couch, watch TV all day, and then you don't feel like it was even restful. It doesn't even feel productive. Like, for me particularly, I really like to feel productive or like I'm actually doing something. Having those things scheduled, even though they are fun things like going to the dog park and things, it makes me feel like I'm actually achieving something or I'm actually doing something. And it still is restful in that way. I hope that tip helps. Now, the third tip that I've got for you is to give yourself grace on these first two things that I talked about. Putting your phone away and then scheduling in some fun things to do into your schedule. Those things are very, very easy to mess up on. It's very, very easy to be attached to your phone and constantly talking to people or answering emails, or doing this, that and the other on your phone. All the so same thing goes with a schedule. It can be very, very easy to not know what to do, to kind of like run around your house not knowing exactly what you're supposed to be doing, or not really have a plan, or just to kind of sit on the couch all day and not really feel very productive or even well rested at all. So this third tip is to give yourself grace that when you do trip up on these things, or you do kind of step back into that nursing school mode. The stress and the anxiety that comes with nursing school, if you do have that kind of, that thought process going on, and if it's kind of ruining your vacation, give yourself grace, because that will happen for sure. Nursing school is tough. And even when you're on a break, you're going to feel that stress and that anxiety and that pressure to want to prepare for the next term or to want to keep going. Because you've been going 1,000 miles an hour for months and months and months, and now you have a few weeks of break, it can be very, very hard to hit the brakes on that and to stop immediately. So that's kind of what we're talking about here, right? Giving you tips to help you stop. You know, press pause, take a step back. Nursing school, it goes at lightning speed. There's so much on your mind, so much to do. So I want you to take this time to take a step back and recharge for the next term. It's really, really going to help you come back to nursing school in January or whenever you start and be rested and refreshed and ready to go and hit the ground running. But you can't get there unless you actually do take a step back and recharge your batteries. And so here in tip number three, I want you to give yourself grace, that if that doesn't happen all the time, because it won't, it won't. I'm telling you right now, you're going to mess up on these things. You're going to feel that stress, you're going to feel that pressure, you're going to feel that anxiety. It's totally normal. But give yourself grace and notice it when it happens and tell yourself that that's okay and just bring yourself back and then go on and do something or finish doing whatever you were doing that was fun or that was energizing for you, things like that. So I just hope that these three tips really help you recharge your batteries over break and to help you hit the ground running back when your term starts again so that you can become the nurse that God created you to be. So these three tips that we've got for you again are to put your phone away total in the other room. Don't even think about it. Pop it on airplane mode so you don't even get those messages. Spend time with your family, with your kids, spend time for yourself. Read a book that's not nursing related. Drink some hot cocoa or some tea, sit By a fire, wrap up in a blanket and be all cozy like do things that energize you, that put your mind at ease, bring you some peace of mind before all the craziness of school school starts. So put that phone away now. The second tip I've got for you is to schedule in that time. Like I said, it can be really, really difficult to go from a super duper scheduled life in nursing school to now not having anything to do over break. Maybe you are working, sure, but even that it's not all the time because you had nursing school already. So make sure that you're structuring in some of those fun activities to do. Give yourself a schedule so you have some things to meet during the day that you feel productive, you feel energized and you feel rested. And of course the third and final tip is to give yourself grace because you will trip up on these things. You will keep that phone on you and feel a little bit of anxiety or stress as you're preparing for school or as you're thinking about the next term and oh my gosh, what's going to happen. I know it can be really, really tough to turn that brain off. So make sure that you are giving yourself grace to the process. If you do find yourself having those thoughts, just take a moment, take a minute, notice it and take a step back. Remind your that there's a time and place for that. But right now your job is to just be at peace and get some rest for the next term. So I hope these tips helped you today, friends, and I hope you have a great rest of your winter break and nursing school vacation. Congratulations again. I'm so, so proud of you for making it through this term so that you can be here with me today during your Christmas vacation. So I hope that you enjoy it. And of course I'll always be here for you when the term starts back up. So just take this time, take a little rest and we will have some fun when you start your next term again in nursing school. I hope you have a great week. Take care. Bye.
