Here are some really important infection precautions. For lymphoma, you'll want to follow neutropenic precautions. So these are things like avoiding raw foods, avoiding animals, really avoiding sick individuals, making sure that the patient is really washing their hands regularly, taking showers every day. We really want to make sure that we are just decreasing the risk of infection for this patient because they are so immunocompromised. And so your nursing assessment will look for signs of infection, signs of bleeding or bruising, symptoms of superior vena cava syndrome. You'll want to monitor pain, daily weight checks and check their lab values. We want to make sure that their lab values are staying stable as much as possible and that they're not showing signs of an infection. You can find all these med surg flashcards inside the nursing SOS shop.
