New NCLEX?? Let's talk about it...

Christina Rafano and Matthew answer nursing students' questions about the Next Generation NCLEX. The core content stays the same, but the exam introduces new question formats like drag-and-drop prioritization and matrix tables, with partial credit available on many items.

Hello, Hello. Welcome everyone.
Welcome.
Let's see.
I did it for you.
Yes. Thank you. Welcome. Welcome to the nursing school show.
Ask Us Anything. Well, that used to be what it was called. Today we're talking about the new nclex. New and all things new. Nclex. Who's pumped for this before we get started? Like comment heart. All the things Instagram and YouTube. So excited.
That's Christina, by the way. I was gonna say that's Christina. That's. That's all you need to know. That's Christina. Hello, I am Matthew. We are here to help you guys through nursing school.
Yep.
Mostly Christina. Some of me, apparently. I don't know. Yeah.
Oh, I am a registered nurse, by the way.
Oh, good deal. Good.
You might want to know.
Good for you.
Good for you. Oh, that's funny. Okay, so this has been a much, much anticipated topic. Hello everyone.
Hello everyone.
Hello everyone. Again, why don't you pop in the.
Comments, say hi, how are you guys doing? How was your day?
Where are you from?
Let's see what else? Yes, where are you from? Let's, let's, let's start with that. And while those are popping in there, the code for tonight is NCLEX.
Woo.
10% off any of the boxes that we have.
Yeah. Sweet.
Fantastic. Nursingsos.com shop.
Thank you, Matthew. For that you can thank this guy right here. Hi, Mia from Miami.
You can use it.
Nclex. If you can spell it, you can use it. Yeah, that's a way to make sure.
Hey. Hi everyone. This is, this is awesome.
Yeah. So where are you guys at? Orange County, California.
All right.
Your day was fantastic.
Yes. How was everyone's day?
Oh, Florida. Tennessee. Tennessee. Am I reading that? Okay, so the, the eyes and the L's. I can't really like if it's a lower, you know, like when you're like trying to. I don't know, you guys, I'm playing, but if it's like an I and an L next to each other, I can never read it, you know, So I don't know.
Canada, Ohio? Is there some like weather going on over there?
Is there things happening there in Ohio?
I heard rumor.
I heard a rumor about Texas.
I heard a room just everywhere.
Texas? Who's in Texas? We have a lot of students in Texas.
Yes.
So where are you guys at? Texas? New Jersey.
I know, I just, I just happen to see that. So San Antonio.
Wonderfully made.
Ohio and San Antonio. Are there things happening with the weather there? What is going on?
I heard that there is snow and we kind of look at that and say, because there's like 8 inches of snow outside our front door.
It's always snowing. It's always snowing. El Paso, Texas.
Snowing here, but not in Texas. El Paso, Texas. So that's.
All right. Well, everyone just keep. Go ahead and type it in, how your days are going.
And where are you from?
Wisconsin. Definitely snow there.
We have Snowmageddon in Michigan.
Come on.
What school was canceled for three days in Michigan for snow? How much snow did you get? That's confusing to me. Not eight inches. That's funny. Yeah, that's funny. Ice.
Ice.
Ice is the big thing. Snowed last night, but not eight inches. Okay, so where are you at, future nurse Jess? Tell me where. I think I missed it. Oh, you're in Texas. You're in El Paso.
Okay. And everyone that read the topic today, today's topic is the new nclex. Is there a new nclex? How is the nclex?
What is happening with the nclex?
If you have any questions about nclex, new or old, go ahead and pop them in the comments.
New or old or current or I guess current.
Yeah, yeah. Is this the first ever update to the nclex? I'm sure there's been others, right?
There's lots. I mean, there's. I think it's like every three or four years. But what I was like saying is that this is probably. Well, at least since I have been a nurse or a nursing school. This seems to be like the biggest update to the NCLEX that they have done in some time. So it's kind of a big deal. I've seen a lot of Instagram posts about it, seen a lot of YouTube videos about it. Like people are talking about it. So here we are talking about it because a lot of people have questions. So hopefully we can give you answers. Can you guys tell me where are you in your nursing program and if you will be taking the new nclex? Who will be taking the new nclex? Because it will start. They say it's going to start no earlier than 2023. So a lot of you guys in nursing school, like if you just started nursing school right now in January, then you will be taking most likely the new NCLEX of 2022, depending on how long your program.
And they said that's the earliest. Right. So they're still working out the kinks.
I guess, are still testing.
Actually there was someone here.
December.
Oh, yeah. Graduating December this year. So nervous about the new nclex. So December of this year.
So, yeah, graduating. They told you that you are taking the new NCLEX in January then? Because if it's released in 2023, the question is, is it going to be early 2023 or is it going to be later in 2023? Because you know what? What the NCSBN has put out that I have seen so far is that it will be released no earlier than 2023, but who knows?
So, Nikki, year three taking in next April. So we'll see. First semester in our class. Oh, seesaw. First semester in our class is the first to take it. Okay, awesome. So we'll jam on that. Yeah, for sure.
So. So December 2023. Yeah. So if you are taking the NCLEX in 2023, it is possible that you will be taking the new nclex.
So what did you just call it? It's the ng.
It's the next generation nclex. They have a fancy name for it too, the ngn, which is kind of fancy and maybe makes it a little less.
It's an acronym of an acronym.
An acronym of an acronym. Those are funny. Oh, man, that's so true. Taking the new one, most likely. Yeah. So.
So what are you guys Questions about the nclex? Go ahead and pop that in.
I have a few things that I want to jam on.
Yeah, while you're doing that, Christina's gonna jam on that.
Yeah. So. Oh, go ahead.
Oh, no, I'm just gonna just mention again. Oh, there's a baby this time. We wanted to get on and he wanted to stay awake. So anyway, if you guys want to check out our boxes while we're live, they're 10 off your whole order. Nursingsos.com shop. We have a farm box for all your pharmacology needs and a dose out box.
Everyone's saying hi to you. Say hi.
All right, maybe I'll. You're gonna have to go rock sneak over there. Okay, I'll. I'll listen from over there.
Okay, so the first thing that I want to talk about is what is not changing with the nclex? Okay? So we have a lot of questions about it coming in, and I'm gonna hit as many as I can. But let me jam on a few things first. What is not changing about the nclex? What is not changing is the nursing content. Right? Nursing content is nursing content is nursing content. I say it all the time. Literally, I say this all the time. You guys. Do not freak out, okay? Do not freak out about the new nclex. I saw a lot of you guys were saying that you are scared. You're terrified about it. It's like this big scary change. Okay, tell me. Raise your hand actually because. Be brave. Who is scared about the new nclex? Raise your hand because I do not want you to be scared. Are you saying that like I'm getting bunny ears behind me? Do not be scared about the new nclex because nursing content is nursing content. So here's the thing. As you go through nursing school, if you have terrified. Oh no. If you have done well in your program thus far, if you've passed your classes, if you have studied well, you know, if you know your stuff, if you're passing your exams, you are going to be fine for the new nclex. The big scary NGN is not going to be as scary as I think that you think it is right now. Don't worry. So nursing content is nursing content. There is no new information that you have to know. So that is not changing. Like what you need to know for the new NCLEX is not changing what you are learning in nursing school right now. So who you guys are all in nursing school, but where are you at? I'm going to scroll back up. Tell me like what term are you in? You guys said when you graduated. But what you are learning right now. Like who's in Med surge? Who's in fundamentals? Tell me where you guys are at med surge. Like MedSurg. 1, 2, 3. What are you. Where. What are. What are you. What are. Where are you at in your program right now? Are you in Med Surge? You in fundamentals? Your shadow, rocking a baby. Med Surge. Awesome. So your content that you are studying now in fundamentals and Med surge, it is going to be the same for you. You know, you. You don't have to learn anything new to pass this new nclex. You know, it's not like that. Seesaw. You're on fundamentals in pharmacology. Yes. Med Surge. Cynthia. Hello, Nick. You say you're terrified. Don't be terrified. Yeah. So a lot of you guys are in fundamentals. So just starting out. So you guys will most likely take the new NCLEX in 2023. Med surge one failed the first test, but optimistic for the future. Yes. Being optimistic is what we want around here. So just know that the content is not changing. What you need to know for the new nclex and is going to be, you know, what you are learning about now, they are not adding anything new crazy, anything else really. The big thing that you need to focus on for preparing for the NG and the new NCLEX next generation. NCLEX is critical thinking. That is really the biggest thing. And you guys know, if you've been in our world for a while, that is everything that we teach and is everything in nursing. That is why we jam on critical thinking so often. If you're who's in our membership community, I know several of you are because I see you on here commenting, I'm not going to shout you out unless you want me to. So I knew you come out for me. So yes, if you are in our membership community, you know that this is everything that we teach is critical thinking. Critical thinking, critical thinking. In all the fundamentals videos we've got, in all the Med Surge videos and all the videos that we have in the nursing SOS membership community, we walk you through the critical thinking of what we're teaching you, of what you're learning, step by step, so you know the why behind everything that you are doing. So if you are a nursing SOS member, do not worry about the next generation in class. Like it's just flat out, do not worry about. Because if, if we are teaching you, if I'm teaching you, you are going to be prepared. So do not worry about it. Really that is the biggest change with this new generation and clax the NGN is that it is very, very, very, very heavy on critical thinking, on knowing hello, on knowing what, how you would take care of a patient and how, how you would progress your nursing care based on what's happening with that patient. And then so it's, it's really all about it. This, the, the NG and the new NCLEX is going to be more dynamic. I think that's the proper word for it because they're going to be case scenarios and you have to, you'll, you'll have different test items that you, we don't have right now with the current nclex. So you'll have to click through tabs with patient information and then you might have to order your priorities for this patient based on the information that they give you. So things like that, you have to really deepen your critical thinking skills, practice your critical thinking skills in order to be successful on this new nclex.
So another term that we've heard lately, a little lately, I mean, like we've been. Or I say we, but Christine has been teaching nursing students for quite a while now and really the way that she's always taught, the way that it is in the membership Community. It's never changed. But now we're seeing this term of concept based learning and that's really what it is. And how Christine is always taught is concept based. Because you don't want to. We've always talked about this. Don't just memorize a list of things. List of things, things that does not work for you for nursing school. And the same way with this new nclex, it's more concept based, which is how Christine has always been teaching. So really it is based on scenarios and giving you case studies and then working through it. And that really is thinking outside the box, connecting the dots, critical thinking concepts, the concepts that you're going to be tackling and how you're going to be putting everything together. And I think that that's really great. Sequoia was saying that they took the NCLEX one week ago. Hey, congrats. And you said that at the end they give you a sample of questions they are testing out. That's really cool.
I was going to mention that. That's what. Okay, thank you for reminding me. If you are taking the NCLEX now, like within the next year you're going to see the new item questions because they're in testing right now. So we got that for our exam, like they're always testing new item questions.
So the one that you said, Sequoia, the scenarios on the questions they were testing out allowed you to click on other tabs to see patient info, labs, updates, etc. It would give you a solid paragraph for a scenario. So again, giving you a whole scenario case study, giving you all this information and giving you the ability to really critically think about how it all fits together, what information you don't need to know, what information you do need to know. And then again, it's really this concept based learning which is great because that's really how nursing SOS has always taught and has always given you the nursing concepts is really you want to be the best nurse you can be. And that includes just putting you in more real world scenarios.
Yeah. And just how to critically think. So when you come into the membership community and if you watch any of the videos, like we walk you through the rationale, like the reason behind everything that you're doing. So why is this patient experiencing the signs and symptoms they are? Why do we do the nursing interventions that we do, things like that, we walk you through the critical thinking behind it all for that reason, because that's what nursing care is. Then the NCLEX goes and changes to be more in line with that.
So.
So it's going to be so helpful for you. So like I said before, if you're a nursing SOS member, like, do not worry at all. Like, don't worry, you're going to pass. It's no big deal.
So the membership is closed right now, but definitely get on the wait list and we'll let you know when it opens up again. So nursingschoolofsuccess.com join for that one.
I also wanted to mention I'm going to real quickly go through with you some of the new types of item questions that they are adding.
So.
So yes, I think it was. Who was it from last night? Jeff from last night on the Live was asking if SATA questions would still be around. Yes, are still around. But there is good news. They are introducing partial credit. And it looks like from what I have read from the NCSBN is that they're introducing partial credit for multiple types of questions. Because a lot of the questions that they're changing to, like, it's not just going to be just multiple choice anymore. There's going to be a lot of different types of, types of questions that you're going to see different formats of questions, things like that. So they're, they're allowing you partial credit with a lot of those. So I'm going to run through a list. I have a really great PDF that I am actually looking at from the NCSBN on my computer right now. If you can DM me on Instagram, I will send this to you, okay? Because it actually has the list of the types of questions that they're going to be introducing. So go to my Instagram. A lot of you guys are on Instagram. Hello, Instagram. But just DM me, okay? At nursing sos DM me and I will send this to you. Okay? I think that's the easiest way to get, to get it to you. So just DM me on Instagram right now and then after this Live, I will send it to you.
Okay, Dina, that's, that's my thoughts exactly. Partial credit. Yes.
Partial. Yes, you can get partial credit and not just for the SATA questions, like we said, but for all the different types of item questions that they're going to be introducing you to. So I want to run through these, but like I said, they're really interesting and I want you to actually see the visual. So the NCSBN put out this PDF that I'm looking at right now. So we're going to go through it, but DM me on Instagram and I will just send this to you so that you have it so that you can see it and get more familiar with the top types of questions that they're going to be asking you. So the first one is extended multiple responses. What they're calling it. So this is, what was it Sakuya, you were saying you just took it yesterday. That's the type of question that you were talking about with the tabs. That's the one we were just talking about. So they're going to give you a case scenario question and it will have multiple tabs. So this one here says like health history, nurses notes, vital signs and lab results. So you can click through the tabs for all of the patient information. It's basically like flipping through the patient's chart basically and then the question will have like a select all that apply. So which is, you know those sad questions.
Never going away.
Never going away. They're going to haunt us all in our dreams. But extended multiple responses, what they're calling that. So it's just exactly what you were just saying. Sakuya, what you had on your NCLEX yesterday was that tab kind of situation. Flipping through a patient's chart.
Oh yeah, exactly. That's kind of cool. Yeah, it's really interesting how they can incorporate again more real world scenarios in your, in your testing experience. That's really cool.
This NCLEX seems like it's going to be good.
Partial on YouTube said nursing student. Here they just added new NCLEX generation questions and Yep. So cool with a K. Yeah, much better.
Yeah, it actually looks to me, I mean I am glad that my NCLEX a little because I don't want to have to take it again but you know, it does look a little bit easier than it was before to be honest. I mean there's just like partial credit. Come on. I wanted partial credit. And again partial credit.
It might look easier also because again this, this is just the way that you, you understand things and this is the way that you teach.
Oh yeah, that's true.
This is just how it works for you.
Yeah. And everyone who's in our membership community. There you go. So that's the first like kind of change for item question. Is that extended multiple responses what they called it? So there's like tabs that you flip through exactly securely like flipping through the patient's chart. Now the next one is kind of the same so tabs and then it'll be a like drag and drop. So this, I could see them using it as like A priority question. What would be your first response? What's your next response? What's your next response? Like what are your, what is your nursing care gonna look like with this patient? Okay, so let's like drag and drop. So there's like two columns and you have like one column here that is filled out. Like their example says. Like what are some assessment findings you would see but here, like I would really, I, I could definitely see them do the doing, like you know, prioritizing your patient care. Like, like what are you going to do? 1, 2, 3. What are your steps with this patient? So they're going to give you a case scenario question. You're going to have to drag into those spots. Like here's what I would do. First, second, third, fourth, fifth, what have you, things like that. So drag and drop. Did you have one of those Takuya yesterday? I don't know. Just a drag and drop. Obviously not going to ask you exactly what questions they asked you, but the, the dragon drop and then a drop down. So you can like click, click on the menu. I don't know, like a drop down. Like you click and then you get the drop down. The answers that like drop down and then you have to click on what answer, what answer it is. So drop down menus, drag and drop as well. Now this next one I am very curious about and I actually don't know if it's my favorite thing in the world, I hope they do it right, is highlighting. So they're calling it enhanced hotspot. Enhanced hotspot or highlighting. So they're giving you, they're going to give you a case scenario question and then you actually have to drag your cursor and highlight the key information or highlight, you know, whatever, whatever the question is asking you for, you're going to have to highlight. I, I hope they do it right because I could see like, you know, what if someone highlights just a period and the period wasn't supposed to be highlighted? You know, like how, how is the technology gonna know? Like how's the computer gonna know?
I don't know.
I just, I hope I, I hope they do that one right. I'm a little nervous about that. That one I'm the most nervous about. And then the other one, the other one is matrix or a grid where like they just, it's basically a table. Basically a table. So you're gonna just have to like select multiple responses in a table. So this example is like, oh, what intervent is it? What interventions? Yeah, what interventions would you do for this patient, is it, you know, would you do it? Is it not an essential one or is it contraindicated? Is the example that they give? If I can read that right, yeah. Is it anticipated, non essential or contra. Contraindicated? So you would like choose which, you know, with this patient's case scenario question, they're going to give you that case scenario and then you have to decide, okay, what intervention is appropriate for this patient. Basically. So drag and drop, like we said, the drop, drop down menus, the kind of more extended select all that apply. Those are, those are going to be the main changes for your item questions. And like I said, DM me on Instagram because the NCSBN put out this fantastic PDF on this, it's just a downloadable thing. So DM me on Instagram. Okay. And I will send it to you so you don't have to go searching for it. But it's fantastic. So Instagram at nursingsos, just DM me and I will just send this to you just because it's nice to have a visual of it to see like what the actual questions might look like. I mean, I can explain it to you, but it's kind of nice to be able to see. So I will send you this PDF if you DM me on Instagram. Okay. All right. Do we have any questions that I should.
Yeah, there was a couple. Is there any change to the time. Time to take the.
That's a great question. I haven't seen any, I have not seen any change to that as far as like the new NCLEX is concerned. I mean with the whole, everything going on in the world right now. Yes, there were some changes to that. I don't know. But I don't know, particularly for this new nclex, if there is a time change or I guess another great question is, is there like an item because it's, you know, 265, is that staying the same? I don't know the number of questions.
Yeah, that's a good question.
Is passing still going to be 75? I don't know. I mean, I would assume so because that would be a pretty significant change if they did do something different than 75 or, you know, the 265 for the max number of questions that you can get. But, but who knows? I mean they're, they're changing the different formats, especially if they're changing to partial, a partial credit system. I mean, I think, I think it's anyone's guess. I think that could be. I could see that certainly being up in the air. Yeah, yeah.
Oh, someone on YouTube. Suppressing will be 85.
Passing will be 85. Oh, okay.
All right.
Yeah, yeah, let's check it out. I don't know. I have not heard that anywhere other than here just now. So. Yeah, we'll see again. So that. Can you. Can you write down. Write that down. How many items. What is passing? And what was the other question, friends that we had? I forget. I just had it in my brain. We covered partial credit. I'm have to think about that, because there was another question I just had in my mind, and that's gone.
It felt like they wanted you to pass. I wasn't worried about time to make any changes. Maybe they'd take. They take that into consideration.
Yeah. Because, like, ours. Well, when I took it, you know, it's the. Actually, I took, like, the old one. I mean, like, they've even updated. Updated it since I took it, but it was like six hours max. I think you could. You could do it in, like, six hours. I think I did it in, like, one and a half, maybe. I mean, it was pretty. I was like, I'm out of here. Get me out of here.
It's funny, I remember taking some of those tests, and to me, it was thinking, am I going too fast? Or like.
Yeah, you, like, kind of listen around for the clicks that everyone else is doing. You're like, I'm. I. I. Am I doing it right? I don't know. Oh, man. Story time. When I was in nursing school, there was a. Do you guys have not assigned seating in your exam room or your test room, but everyone always sits in the same spot? Like, same thing with, like, lecture class, right? Like, do you always sit in the same spot in lecture? I don't know. Are you guys all still online? I know a lot of you guys are. Are in school, but a lot of you might be online still. But, like, in our nursing program, like, everyone always sits in the same spot for the exam, right? And I had one of the. One of the other nursing students behind me. He was always just so fast. You know who I'm talking about? Because he talked about it all the time. It's like, okay, good for him, but so annoying. And he knew it. Like. Like, we would all make fun of him. Cause he would literally, like, 10 minutes into the exam, and he's out of there. And we're all like, what in the world is going on? Like, are we doing it wrong? And he was always like, I think he got a 4.0, too. Like, I just. I So I don't know how he did it, but literally, like 10 minutes into every exam. Like, really, really, man.
So come on. Not a nurse. Not a nurse here. But yeah, while I was in college, I was that one guy that even though there were technically no assigned seats, I sat in the different seat every time. And people would get so mad at me because they really wanted to sit in their spot.
It's like, sorry, bro. Sorry, bro. Yeah. Okay, so everyone's saying that, yes. You sit in the same spot. Everyone's saying yes on Instagram. Everyone's saying yes on YouTube. We have that same person in my class. The one guy was always done in 10 minutes.
Yeah.
That's so funny. It's so. It's. Man. And everyone's like, seriously, man, how do you. How, how, how. So funny.
That's awesome.
Yep.
Mars for Joe. Popped in on Instagram, I believe. Will there be math?
I'm gonna say yes to that question. There's always gonna be math on. In nursing. I mean, I haven't seen that they put out any changes to that. No. Like, they, they. The NCSBN has come out and said that the content is not changing. So, you know, as far as dose calc, as far as pharmacology, as far as lab values, as far as the content, nothing is changing. It is just the types of items, like item question format. That is what is changing. It's going. It's. It's moving to more case scenario, E critical thinking E on the end. So you need to know your case scenarios, and you need to know critical thinking. Hey, speaking of that, actually on YouTube we have a whole video on how to answer case scenario questions. Definitely recommend you check that out. So go to YouTube.com and search in there. Or just Google, you know, just Google nursing SOS case scenarios and it'll pop up for you. So just go to Google nursing SOS case scenarios, and there you go.
And if you haven't yet, go ahead and hit the subscribe button and go ahead and hit the bell so you're notified for our new videos. They are dropping every week, and also we're going live a lot more, so be sure to subscribe. And if you like what we've been doing so far, go ahead and hit the like button as well.
Yes. Like.
Because like means like I like hearts on it or you like hearts? Because they can do the whole.
Yeah, they do like that. And I really like that. I think it's.
So go ahead and shoot over a heart. Shoot over a. Like, let's see oh, you were talking about. The content is staying the same, but just the kind of the, the types of questions. So someone actually asked on Instagram.
Thanks Instagram.
Because of the, the new style of, of nclex questions.
Look how many hearts we're getting. You guys are awesome.
Are we changing the way that we're teaching our content within the nursing SOS membership community? Someone did ask that and I think it's kind of great because we don't need to because that's all we've always been teaching.
That's what we've always done. It's pretty fantastic. So you guys know if you've been in our world for a while, we are all about critical thinking. We are all about critical thinking. So this is what we do. What we will be doing is Nicole and I will be putting out more case scenario questions for you. So that is what. So like for example, our tutor form, what you can do if you're, if you're a nursing SSL member. I know we have several of you guys on here. Just as a reminder for, for you. I know you already know. Just as a reminder, you do have access to our nursing team. So you can submit a tutor form, submit any questions that you have, and we will help walk you through it. So if you get like case scenarios from school or like you get, you know, dose cal questions you're confused about, like, just submit it to our nursing team and we're going to walk you through everything for that. So Nicole and I have had quite a bit of fun doing like, case scenarios, you know, coming up with those for you guys. So you'll definitely be seeing more of those. But as far as, like, the content that we teach, absolutely not. Like, everything inside the nursing association community has been built for this, for this moment of the new generation nclex. Because, you know, that's exactly what we teach is the critical thinking part. We always have. Always will. Yep. Hey. Okay, this is funny, but Mark Clemek. Who is that? I have been seeing this name pop up everywhere and I, I. Okay, so because like, when I was in nursing school, like, this person was not around when I was taking nursing school. So anyway, I need to apparently look into that because I have been hearing that name popping up all over the place for like NCLEX Prep.
Cool.
Apparently it's super helpful.
He helped design.
Well, there you go.
Questions? Well, okay.
Perfect.
All right.
Yeah. Yep. That sounds, that sounds like someone you would want. I don't know if that's true. Okay, well, hopefully. Cool, you guys. Yes. So Item questions changing. Please, please, please DM me on Instagram because I will send those to you. I have the PDF, it's up right now from the ncsbn. So please DM me over on Instagram if you want, if you want me to send this over to you. It's just kind of nice to see a visual with how it looks there and so that you can see like, you can scroll through and actually see like what it's going to look like, you know, with the tabs, with the select all that apply things and all this stuff. So honestly my personal opinion, I don't think it's going to be worse than the current nclex. I actually think there's a good chance it's going to be easier simply because they, the questions seem a little easier and or at least the questions that they put out here on the NCSBN PDF look a little bit easier. That and they're giving partial credit. So those two things on top of the nursing content is the same. Like they, they, they absolutely, they, they have come out and said that they are absolutely not adding any new content. Like they are not expecting you to know anything new than what you, you know what nursing programs right now are already teaching. So nursing content is nursing content is nursing content. If you just started nursing school now and you're taking the new egg collects, don't worry, you know, because what you're learning now is absolutely going to apply for, you know, apply to the new nclex.
You're giving me hope.
You're giving me hope. That's what I'm here to do. Hey you guys, I really wanted to walk through with you some nclex. Nclex question hacks that you can use to get those questions right. But we are pushing our time. So what I want to do. Matthew, can you please write down on here on your notes?
Okay.
Um, I want to do prob. Okay, so today's Thursday, so next week when we do another live, I want to do a whole video on nclex question hacks. Okay, so join us next week for that nclex question hacks. Yes. And then, you know, follow on Instagram because actually Instagram I'll put like when we're going live next week. But would that be helpful for you guys?
Yeah, I think that would be helpful. That was my answer. Yes, it would be helpful. Will it be helpful for all of you guys out there in YouTube and Instagram land? Yeah, let us know. We are here to help you guys. So whatever you need help with what Topics you would find helpful. Again, I said we are going live quite frequently, so we do want to answer your questions.
I like this.
Go ahead and hit your. The like button.
Everyone's saying, if you like it, like it. If you like it, like it, hit that like button. Send up some hearts for us. Hey, also, Matthew and I had a question. We just thought it would be fun to, like, go live more casually sometimes and just, like, chat rather than, like, do, like, nursing stuff or, like, answer nursing school questions. But I don't know if that would be fun for you. I don't know if you want to just, like, hang out and study and chat. I don't know, but I really. This is funny. So here's where this is coming from. I really like TikTok live videos because a lot of them are just so casual and, like, chatty. And, like, one that I was on just the other day, like, the girl was literally doing the dishes and just, like, talking to people on live video. And I'm like, I want to do that. I want to talk to, like, I want to talk to people. So there you go. I. That is my question. Let me know if that would be fun for you. So I can just do the dishes and we can talk. That sounds fun to me. That's funny. Kaplan. Okay. Someone said ati. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what y' all are talking about. So ati. ATI is a program that nursing schools use. It's actually curriculum, basically. So think of it as a nursing school curriculum. There's two. Two main ones, ATI and hesi. If you are in an ATI or Hussey program, you will absolutely be. You know, just don't worry, friends. I mean, just don't worry about new nclex, especially if you're a nursing SS member, you know, especially if you've, you know, if you understand the nursing content you're learning. If you are, you know, passing your exams in nursing school, don't worry about it. So, yeah, I hope to give you hope.
That's what I. Elsia was wondering if there's an app that you recommend practicing for for nclex and what's the. What was the one that you used?
What was the one that I used.
To practice for the nclex or something like that?
My Mastery, they rebranded. Yeah, my. So My Mastery, it's a app on your phone that you can just do practice questions now. I don't know if they've updated yet for the new nclex. Sure, they're working on it. So I Wouldn't worry too much about it. I would love for it to be fun, but life isn't fun anymore in nursing school.
We will make it fun. We need to make it fun.
We are here to make it.
Thanks for dropping by and for all your knowledge too. And congrats on the nclex.
Yes. Yes. Did you say that you passed? Nice, nice, nice. I remember that. Like you're like logging in. Hey, actually that's a great question, Sukuya. How do you know that you passed? How did you know? Did you do the Pearson view trick? They. They. So I think that's. I actually don't think I had to do that. Yeah, the trick. Everyone does it. So there's a trick that. Well, I didn't have to do it because like the, the state that I was licensed in, like they got it like almost immediately and my licensed pop up. My license actually for the state, I don't know why, popped up like an hour or two hours later. But when you pass the nclex, you can go in and try to register for it again. And if they let you register, that's a problem because they will actually kick you out to register. Oh, but you find out in two days by. Oh, interesting. I don't think that was an option.
It's a great way to get an extra seven bucks.
No kidding. But you find out in two days by paying up to seven. By paying seven dollars just to be 100. Sure. I don't think that was an option when I took the nclex. I don't think we could like pay them to get our results. That was not. That was not an option when I took the nclex. Yeah. So that our boards were just pretty quick. Oh, yeah, sorry, I was. Oh yeah, yeah, that, that trick. That's funny.
Ashley's wondering if you'll be live on Wednesday.
Oh yeah, Ashley. Hey, girl. Yes, we will be live for coaching every Wednesday, the nursing SS membership community. So you guys know how much I love live video. It's just so fun to chat with you. But inside our nursing SOS Membership community, we do coaching now every single week. So every Wednesday I will be in there, our lead nurse Nicole will be in there and we coach you. So fun. So we're going to help you with. Well, this month's theme is time management and getting organized. So we are going to be talking about the different topics around that each week. So super exciting.
Awesome.
Yep. I'll see you. If you're a nursing SOS member, head on over next Wednesday Insider. Well, Actually, we had some tech issues, Ashley, as you know, yesterday, this was. Yesterday was Wednesday. Good job, Christina. Tech issues yesterday. So we're trying to figure out what, how that live video is good. I think Facebook was just glitchy yesterday. Facebook was having a day yesterday.
So, yeah, I think I figured it out. So we'll, we'll do it on next Wednesday and I have some ideas which will be cool and fancy. So that's awesome.
Rare gem. Do you have paid coaching? Kind of. I mean, if you join the nursing SS membership community, that's where we do coaching. So basically kind of. Yes. Yeah, there you go. So go to nursing school of nursing school of success.
Success.com join.
I was gonna join the waitlist.
It is closed right now. But if you join the waitlist, you'll be the first to know when it opens.
Yes. Nursing schoolofsuccess.com forward/join. Head on over there. Yep. Wednesday. Ashley says Wednesday coaching is awesome. It was really helpful. I'm glad. Ashley, you're awesome. Just joined the SOS family. What time on Wednesdays it is at what time did we do. What time is it now? I think it's either 10 or 11. Ashley, what time was it yesterday? I don't even remember.
These days are long.
But I email you about it, so. And we have a calendar actually when you so log into your community. Cami is it Cami. So log into your member dashboard and click on bonuses and it's under, it'll be under the coaching calls. There's a calendar with the times and the topics each week and the schedule. So yep, we have a made a fancy calendar for you for our coaching calls inside the nursing SS membership community. So yeah, if you want to get coached, it's. It's a little different than tutoring. So we're not really answering in. In like the coaching call. I think the coaching calls are super fun. So we actually do both inside the community. So if you want tutoring for nursing school, we have a nursing team that will help you with that. So in the membership community, if you click on bonuses, you can access our tutor form and submit your questions there and a nurse on our team will get back to you. And then every Wednesday we will do coaching, which is more like life stuff. Like we are helping you with how to get organized, how to take notes, how to not procrastinate, how to stay motivated in nursing school, how to study more efficiently, kind of those things, which is super, super helpful. So we're kind of merging nursing school and life. We're Helping you out with both of those things because let's be honest, your life does not stop when you join nursing school.
No, it's not.
You just need to now balance both of them. So that's what our membership community does for you now. We help you balance both of those things. It's what we're here for.
So, Gerardo, thanks for joining. And yeah, we went over a bunch of the ngn. I like that. I'm gonna use that. The Next Generation nclex changes and Amazing Brothers, since that's the only name that you have here. Thanks for. Thanks for helping out, Gerardo. So, yeah, if you guys go ahead and DM Christina on Instagram @NousingSOS.
Yep, DM me there.
Just DM her there and she has the PDF for all the changes that she found and she'll send that over to you.
Hey, while you're there, follow me on Instagram. Ashley, it was 12 MST, so noon MST sounds good. Cool. Yes. So I do have this nice little PDF here from that the NCSBN put out about the ner, the. That next generation nclex, the ngn. I feel like you should say that, really, in a deep voice. The ng. Anyway, I have a PDF on it for you and I'm going to send it to you after this live. If you DM me on Instagram. So DM me on Instagram, ask me for it and I will send it to you. Sound good?
You never used uworld, did you? Okay. Yep. Just we. We hear that this a lot. Just asking if. If you uworld is helpful and we only really recommend things that we've. Sorry, when I say we just.
Just.
It's. Christina, I'm not a nurse. I never went through the whole nursing school. But yes, Christina, we only recommend things that you've used and you've liked.
Yes. So, yeah. Saunders, do I have my Saunders book around?
Oh, I think Saunders is upstairs.
So. Saunders. Oh, no, it's right there.
Oh, should I go get it?
Yes, please.
I'll go get it.
Yes. All right.
So this is what you recommend?
Yeah, I'll show you what I recommend because we have it here. So Saunders. And then the. It's called the nclex Mastery app, but I think now it's called My Mastery. So this is the Saunders book. Oh, it is so big and heavy. But here you go. It has lots of practice questions. It's basically like a study guide, which is kind of nice. So that's what I use to answer nclex style questions during nursing school. Yeah. It does not help you with critical thinking though. Let me just tell you. So that's what you want the Nursing Essos membership community for. That's. That's for certain. So that book. Yeah, it's. I mean it'll help you memorize things, but it's not going to help you critically think. So you'll definitely want to join the membership community for that. And then the other one was the. My mastery, but same thing. That's just a. That's just a like question. It's just a practice question database is really what it is. It's just filled with practice questions and you do all the practice questions to get that practice in. And I'm sure they're updating it. I'm sure they're gonna.
I'm sure they will be.
Yeah, I'm sure they're gonna update it. Yep, absolutely. Sixth and seventh of that book. Hey, me too. Yeah.
Are those editions you have?
I think so. Or seven and eight, something like that. I have them. I have like the one six. Yeah, six. So I think we have six and seven, maybe even five. I keep updating it because like I like to look at the new updates and we use. Which. Well, we're really bad at this, but we try to use the new books in our YouTube videos and stuff. Yep, I do use that book actually. It's helpful. Rationale is great. Yeah. I mean, yeah, the. The rationales for the test questions. Yes. Yeah, those are helpful for sure. Yeah, you always want to read the rationales. All right, friends. Well, next week we're talking about the NCLEX question. Tech test hacks.
Yeah. So we'll do a part two of this where we talk more about answering NCLEX questions.
And just so you know, the pharmacology box, while we are on this live is. What is it? It's on discount.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Any of our, any of the boxes.
Any of our boxes. We have the farm box and the Dose calc box.
Use code NCLEX.
Use code NCLEX for 10 off your entire order.
So use code NCLEX.
Pharmacology if you need help with Dose Calc. Dose Calc has. Let's see, just take a look. Those. Calc has this awesome workbook. Oh, those are all the answers. So a bunch of practice questions. And I think the coolest part about it is the answers complete with how you solved it. So very, very cool. For dose Calc practice, we have our.
We have our tried and true step by step process for dose Calc and pharmacology so we literally, in the pharmacology box and in the dose calc box, we walk you through step by step, how to get dose calc questions right. And how to answer farm questions, how to learn medications faster. So I, I've never seen anyone teach pharm like we do. I have never seen anyone teach dose calc like we do. And I don't know why, because this is the best way. I am telling you. I'm telling you. Just actually go to our website, okay. Go to nursingschoolofsuccess.com and click on testimonials and read them. Because, I mean, seriously, the success that our students have with the way that we teach is just un, unrivaled. I mean, our students are incredible and they work so hard and they follow our process and it works. It's incredible. So if you're in the farm box.
Yeah. If you're interested to take a look at the boxes, they're@nurseingsos.com shop and amazing brothers. What does the cards include as of med information? So these are the pharmacology cards. They're basically done for you med cards.
Yeah, they follow our system. So every card will have key points that you need to know for the nclex key points that you need to know for your nursing school exam. They are highlighted there for you in pink. Every single card has a mechanism of action, friends, when you, if you are going to buy any other flashcard out there in the world, do not buy it unless it has a mechanism of action on every single card. That is what you need to know for your medications. Okay?
Oh, by Instagram.
Sorry? By Instagram. My phone just died. Oh, no, sorry, Instagram. I'd like to say that's not the, that's the first time that has happened, but it is not the first time that has happened. So on every single card. YouTube mechanism of action, you have to make sure that you have and that you understand the mechanism of action. And this mechanism of action is really not like looking at your drug guide. Like we actually break it down for you in simpler terms so you can understand it. So, yeah, it's. It's everything that you need to know. It's everything that you need to know the information for your exams, but it's not all the information in a drug guide because you don't need to know all that for your exams. We pare it down for you. We do the hard work for you. That is what I'm here to do. So, yes, the pharmacology box and the dose calc box are while we are on this live video. They are 10 off if you use code NCLEX. So go to nursingsos.com and check it out. Nursing sos.com forward slash shop.
Yeah, I think that amazing brothers. I think that that will be really good for you to at least take a look at. See what's in there. See if it will help you.
It absolutely will if you're taking pharmacology.
It will indeed.
All right my friends, that is all. We will see you next week when we talk about NCLEX test taking strategies. I don't know what I'm going to call that video, but we'll figure it out.
And also let us know what other topics you want to hit, what other questions you want answered as far as nursing school goes. And we'll do that next week as well.
Let's do it.
All right.
All right my friends.
Take care everyone.
Bye bye. Can't say bye to Instagram. We already left you. I'm sorry about it. Oh man.
