The EASIEST Way to Pass Nursing School

Christina Rafano argues nursing students waste time reading entire textbooks and should focus on what professors emphasize instead. She breaks each disorder into four areas: pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, assessment, and interventions. Her method uses an hour-by-hour planner to manage study time and prevent overwhelm.

In this video, we are going to talk about the easiest way to pass nursing school. I'm going to give you some of my top tips to help you succeed. So make sure you hit that subscribe button and click the notification bell and let's dive in. So the number one tip that I have for you is the one that I probably talk about the most, and it's also the most controversial. Like, every time I talk about this, somebody gets mad at me. So here it is, my friend. So do not read every single thing in the book. I know, right? You're like Christina, but wait, we're assigned like a thousand pages every week. I know, and that's the problem, friend. Here's the thing that I see with most nursing students, you spend so much time reading that you never actually have time to study and learn it for your exam. You're just reading for the sake of reading. I found this to be true for me. When I started nursing school. I was literally like drown myself in my textbooks. But then when it got to the exam, to the exam time, I would know a little bit about so many topics that was covered in that textbook, but I didn't know enough about the things that actually mattered. So here's what I want you to take away from this. Focus on learning and reading the sections of the book that your professors talk about in in class. I know, right? Nobody tells you this, but I am telling it to you today. I hope you take this with you, friend. I'm totally serious. What your professors talk about in class is most likely to show up on your exams since they at least wrote your test or they know what's on it. The things that they talk about in class are the things that are most likely to show up on your exam. Now here's where students really freak out on me and say, but Christina, my professors don't write our exams. I'm in an ATI or a HESI program. And here is the secret for you, my friend. If you are in an ATI or a HESI program, if your school uses ATI or hesi, here's what I want you to do. Focus on studying these four main things. The pathophysiology, the signs and symptoms, the nursing assessment, and the nursing intervention. So for any disorder that you're studying, this could be med, surgical, this could be OB, this could be PEDs. Any disorder that you are studying, disease or disorder or pathological process, focus on studying those four main areas. Pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, nursing assessment, and nursing interventions. Those are the Things that your ATI or your HESI exams are going to focus on those as well as the nclex. That is what you need to know as a nurse or those four key areas. So real quick I want to walk you through the easiest way to do this in nursing school and how to study those four key areas. So let's head on over to my computer and I'll show you how to do this with the Nursing SOS Membership community. So I want to walk you through what this looks like and how to do it when studying in nursing school. So this is the dashboard that you'll come to when you sign in as a Nursing SOS member. So you'll just scroll down, check out all the courses that we've got. Fundamentals, Time management, How to study, Pharmacology, Care plans, Fluid electrolytes, all our med surg courses like Cardiac, endocrine, neuro, Maternal Newborn course, Critical Care course. So you'll click on any one of these and then you'll notice that our videos are broken up into pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, nursing assessment and nursing interventions. This is why we break it up in this way. It just makes it so much easier for you to find exactly what you need, exactly when you need it. So make sure that when you're studying med surg that these are the four key areas, areas that you're focused focusing on because these are the ones that your professor is going to test you on and friend. Enrollment into the Nursing SOS Membership Community is open this week. I'm so excited. We have had so many students join already. It's been kind of bananas the past 24 hours. Enrollment is open through Friday, so you have until Friday to join. We only open enrollment a few times a year. That really allows us to to give more and more value and more one on one attention to our members rather than constantly having more and more students join. So I really like to focus on our members throughout the year. So that's why we only open enrollment a few times a year. So make sure that you join before Friday. The link is in the description for you to check out all of the details. Now my second study tip to help make nursing school so much easier for you and basically just life in general is to plan to your time, my friend. I cannot tell you how many times I have had nursing students come to me saying, Christina, I am trying to study so much for my test. It's in two days, I don't know what to do. I'm like girlfriend, for real. I really want you to be planning your time so that you are studying for weeks before your exam rather than just the day before, two days before. You are going to be so, so much more successful if you plan your study time out in increments rather than just glumping it all together the night before your exam and cramming. We know that that is not effective for your exam. So here's what I want you to do, is to get a nursing school planner just like this one. This one is a bonus that comes inside the nursing SOS membership community. It's amazing. You're going to love it. And I want you to plan your time hour by hour. This is the best way to plan your time. And here's why. This is what I noticed with so many nursing students as well as myself. When I was in nursing school, I would find myself getting so overwhelmed and confused on what I was supposed to be doing when I got home. Like there was just so much to study and so much to do. It was like my brain would just shut down. Does this happen to you too? So I would like walk around my house and just wander around not sure what I was doing. I would like bake cookies, I would clean my house. I would do all the things that I should not have been doing that were not a priority. So I really should have been focusing on studying for nursing school. So here's where this hour by hour schedule comes in. And in the nursing school planner, these are the hour by hour pages that you'll get inside the nursing SOS membership community. So they are super pretty and super amazing. We've also got it broken down by month and then also by week. So you've got everything in this planner to help you succeed. So I really want you to break out your schedule hour by hour. That way you know what exactly you need to be studying when you get home so you don't come from lecture and then go home and get all confused on what you're supposed to be doing. You know, because you looked at your schedule, you already wrote it out. Okay, I'm going to be seeing studying this topic at this time. Then I'm going to be writing this research paper or these care plans at this time. So you know what you need to be doing every single time so you don't end up like me, wandering around your house baking cookies, not sure exactly what to do. So we don't want any of that here. We do not want any of that stress or overwhelm or confusion. So make sure that you are planning your Time, hour by hour. And the next tip that I have for you is huge. I have gotten so many comments and so many questions on this over the past week. So I really wanted to talk about it is how to learn and how to study pathophysiology. Now, this is huge in nursing school. Like I said in the beginning of this video, it's one of the four key things that you have to know in nursing school about all your diseases, all your disorders, all the things you've got to know, the pathophysiology of what you're studying. And pathophysiology can be really hard because it's like this huge topic and it can get really, really technical and really, really scientific and really detailed that it's hard to simplify it. So here is my recommendation for you. Break down pathophysiology into step by step processes. Now, if you have watched any of our pathophysiology videos here on this YouTube channel, you know that this is exactly, exactly how I teach. This is really my teaching style of breaking things down step by step into really simple terms for you to understand so you can finally remember it for your nursing school exams. It's so effective. So this is really how I suggest that you study your pathophysiology. So when you're learning about how a disorder acts in the body, your patho break it down step by step. What happens first, what happens next, then what happens step by step. So this is how we break this up into the nursing SOS membership community and those four main categories, patho signs and symptoms, nursing assessment and nursing intervention. So for all the med surgical disorders that you're studying, you get a patho video where I break it down for you step by step, exactly what's happening. So it's super helpful for students. Let me show you how we do it. So like we said, the pathophysiology is so much easier to learn when you walk through it. So step by step. So I'm going to scroll down here to again, our med search courses down here. Now, all of our med search disorders, we do include a patho video, like I said, which makes it so easy. And in these patho videos, I walk you through step by step, what happens with asthma, what happens with chronic bronchitis, what happens with emphysema, what happens with the hemothorax and pneumonia, all of those disorders that you need to know about in nursing school. So the patho videos are step by step, exactly what happens during those disorders. Enrollment will be closing for the Nursing SOS membership community this Friday at 4pm Pacific Standard Time. I hope you join. It's amazing. You are going to love it. It is literally the easiest way to pass nursing school. It's literally like having me as your nursing school tutor. Super duper helpful. So I hope to see you inside. All the links are down below. And of course, if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or d me on Instagram or email me anytime. We're always here for you. Now click on one of these videos right over here to keep rocking Nursing school and I will catch you in the next video. My friend, Go become the nurse that God created only you to be.
