The NEW NCLEX: What do you want to know?

Christina Rafano and Matthew break down the Next Generation NCLEX format changes: extended multiple-response with partial credit, drag-and-drop, drop-down menus, hotspot highlighting, and matrix selections. The nursing content stays the same, but the question types are evolving to test critical thinking differently.
Chapters
That's a lot.
All right, welcome, welcome, welcome, everyone. Happy Wednesday evening night or whatever, wherever you are, let us know. Let us know where you're at. Hello. Hello. Welcome to our live this is Nursing School show.
We are Christina. Oh, yeah, we never introduced.
Yeah, we never introduced ourselves. Christina.
Hello.
Matthew. Hello, hello. Hello.
Guys got his coffee?
I do have my coffee.
All right, gearing up. Yes, we're gearing up.
We are talking about the nclex, the ngn, the Next generation nclex.
Let's talk everything about the next generation.
Let us know what your questions are.
And also while you're at it, let.
Us know where you're joining us from. All right.
Hi, Carrie. Las Vegas, New York, Emmy. Hello. Hi, Mar for Jo. So good to see you.
All right, awesome.
Love you.
On the new nclex, what are the major differences in questions? We are going to go over that in detail. Stick around, stick around. Kansas. Awesome.
Ohio. Hello.
Awesome. Let's see.
Oh, hey, Christy. I didn't see that in you. All right, so should we get into it? Yes. The first thing I want to say about the ngm, this, you know, next gen nclex is that nursing content is nursing content now. I just posted about this on my Instagram stories. I, I just think this is remembering, this is super, super helpful because nursing content hasn't changed. It's not like the nclex is brand new and suddenly everything's changing. You have to know different things and learn different stuff. That's not the case. The only thing that's changing is the types of item questions that they're asking and how they're asking the questions. You'll see more case scenario questions. You'll see different test items than you're currently seeing in practice questions. It's just how they're testing you is changing, but the content itself is not changing, you guys. Okay? So don't freak out and say, oh no, everything's totally different. I'm not going to pass just because it's different. That's not true. That's not the case. I know that there's a lot of people out there freaking out about it on Instagram and TikTok and YouTube, social media everywhere. Let's tone it down, okay? Like, we don't need to be worried or scared about this. It's going to be okay. All right? It's going to be okay. Nursing content is nursing content. It has not changed. So what does that mean? That means what you are learning about in nursing school is what you will be tested on. Okay, so if you are studying really well, if you are, you know, doing your best in nursing school, when you get, you know, when you get your att, your authorization to test to take the nclex and you start studying, really studying for the nclex, as long as you study well, you will do fine. Okay? So let's not freak out, let's not make it mean more than it actually does. It's just that they are changing the item questions, they're adding more case scenarios and stuff. We'll talk about all that as we go through this live. I actually have the whole PDF guide of the next generation NCLEX in front of me. So we're going to go through this. I'm going to walk you through exactly what is changing on the NCLEX as of now, spring of 2023. So but for starters, just don't forget about it. Okay?
So Scott, Scott, you're asking, when does it change? Spring 2023. I graduate in December. Will I be okay on the OG nclex?
On the og. On the OG nclex depends on when you take it. Yep. So you can, if you graduate in December, if you take it in January, yes, you will be taking the OG nclex. If you wait to take it in May, you will take the new one. So make sure, I guess if you don't want to take the new one that you, you know, sign up as quick as possible to take it because you do, you know, when you graduate, you can choose to delay it if you want, but if you delay it, then you will likely take the new one.
But stick around because we're going to talk about the different kinds of questions that will be asked in the different formats and question types. And who knows, maybe at the end of this you'll decide, you know what, I want to take the new one. So we'll see. We will see. All right, so stick around. We'll see. We'll ask you, Scott, at the end.
Of this, what you decide, what you decide.
All right, so stick around to the end. Yeah, let us know if you're gonna decide. You know what, I'm gonna hurry up to take the OG or you know what, I'm going to stick around for the new one, the ngn.
All right, friends, I just saw a really good question. I don't remember if it was TikTok or Instagram. Okay, Mummy, hello on Instagram, taking it in January. So you will take the current one. So yes, you guys tell us YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, which and collects are you Taking currently, what are you, I guess going to be taking? Are you going to be taking the current one? Are you going to take the mgn? I'm super curious what the difference is.
Take the pressure off of Scott. Everyone else type in what which one you want to take or which one you are going to take. Yeah, let's see. Karen is asking are select all that apply questions supposed to help us out more?
Yes, and that's actually the first one we're going to go through. Okay, the first thing I want to say you guys is I have this piece PDF in front of me. This is straight from the ncsbn. Those are the powers that be that put on the nclex. Okay so they put out this briefing and it has all the itemized changes for the nclex. So we're going to go through it. But I can actually send this to you. So if you DM me on Instagram, take DM me on Instagram, ask me for this PDF, I will send it to you. Okay, so we're going to go through this but it'll be nice if you can get it yourself. So just DM me on Instagram. We're just on Instagram at nursing SOS. So go to my Instagram and DM me and I will send this right over to you. But we're going to go through it now. So the first one, Scott. Oh, who asked this? Oh, Alan.
No, Hi Alan. Karen. Karen asked this select all that Apply questions. So before you go into like the NGM part of that I am actually interested in. In. Sorry about that.
We hear noises about.
About the question supposed to help us out more. I'm. I'm curious what kind of you mean by that. But let's go over what. What's going to be different with ngn.
Well, they are going to help you out more. That's how I take it because you get partial credit. You guys, this is the best change to the NCLEX for the NGN is that the select all that applies apply questions, you get partial credit.
So the OG nclex you do not get partial credit.
It's got yes point for the new one, zero for the old one for your neck. Can we just keep a tally?
Yeah, we could keep a tally.
Keep a tally. So yeah, that's a huge bonus on the NGN is that you get partial credit for the select all apply questions. Okay, you guys on yes, you're gonna be sold.
So. So before how I took it is is it going to help you out more becoming a nurse that's that, that's how I took that question. So I'm not sure if that, that's what you mean or not. But what I did not do, I don't know. I, I think I took it as.
Can I pass this?
Yeah, can I pass this? I think in general what ng and like you said, nursing content is nursing contact. But I, I think what they're trying to get at is prepping you for the real world.
That's what they're trying to do.
And, and also kind of testing you on more as real world scenarios as they can get. So in the real world you're not going to go into hospital, go into see your patient and then just answer these really basic questions. It's going to be concept based, it's going to dive into the things like their history, etc. And then you have to critically think about the answer. So that's really what they're trying to get at with ngn. So in general I think that that will help you become a better nurse in the long run. These new kind of questions, because they're gonna try and get you to think more critically and think about the concepts instead.
Yes.
And also with the select all that apply, I think that that helps you in the real world too because sometimes it's not always going to be a one answer for one patient kind of thing.
It's not black and white.
It's not black and white in the real world. So I think that's what they're trying to get at. So I don't know if that even what you're asking, but that's my two cents.
It is like just what you're saying, the real world stuff. It is bringing more case scenario questions into the new nclex, the ngm. So you are going to get more patient scenarios, more case scenario questions. It is more critical thinking. Exactly like you said. So, so bringing it all together friends. Bringing it all together. All right, so the select all that apply, they call it extended multiple response. You are going to get partial credit. Can we just have a celebration emoji? Like just send up those celebration emojis for that one. Okay, so extended drag and drop, this is another one that they're adding now. It's like you get a. Let me give you an example. Like what things would you do for a patient? Like you have this patient, here's the case scenario, like here's their situation now what are you going to do about it? Okay. Like these types of questions and then you have to actually drag and drop the things that you would do.
So there looks like there's two columns. There is a column of choices and the column of blank spots. And you just take the choices that you're going to do for this specific patient, for this specific, specific question and kind of drag it over.
Yep, absolutely. Yeah. So it's. It's like this NG and actually it kind of seems like what they're really doing is making it quite dynamic. It's a lot. It's a lot more dynamic than it used to be or currently is. There's a lot more moving things around. So that is one.
So that you don't get bored.
Yeah, yeah, because. Because if you think about it like selecting seed.
If you think about that, what is that? That's select all that apply. Yeah, that's really it. Except instead of pressing into little check.
Marks, you're dragging, you're dragging. Yeah, that's true. You are absolutely right. So, yeah, I wonder if you get partial credit for that too. Okay, let me read to you what it says. Extended drag and drop items allow candidates to move or place response options into answer spaces. This item type is like the current NCLEX ordered response items, but not all of the response options might be required to answer the. The item. In some items there may be more response options than answer spaces. So I don't see that it says partial credit like it does for the select all apply. But. So that is currently on the nclex. It just is. It makes it longer, I suppose. And also the new thing that is kind of interesting on this NGN is that you can actually click through a patient's chart. So they give you a case scenario question and there's tabs for you to click through. Like, hey, what's their patient history? What are their lab values, what's the assessment data? All of that stuff. So you can actually click through, which is kind of cool. Like that is more real life. So you have a lot of information. They're giving you a lot of information to be able to answer these questions.
Now with a lot of information now potentially there's more information that you have to sift through to get to the answers that you need.
So just take that into consideration.
Consideration as well. Mars for Joe is asking, is it worth more points? So are they changing the point system around?
I am not to. Not to my knowledge that they're actually changing like how many points you get for each type of question. Not to my knowledge. I just know that you will, like it says here, you will get partial credit for those using Partial credit scoring. So you get partial credit for those the, you know, static questions. Select all that apply tp.
Yeah, you caught alive. Yes, we are here. We are live. We're talking about the ngn.
Yay. So glad. Yes. You guys, we are live every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 Pacific, 9:30 Eastern. So. So this is your first time. Welcome. We have fun here.
We are currently going over the next generation NCLEX and how it's going to be set up. However, on our lives too, we do answer nursing school related questions as well. So if you have questions, go ahead and pop them up and we'll try and grab them and either save them to the end or like Christina says, we go live every Monday and Wednesday.
Yep.
So.
Oh, and if you are just joining us. I am. I have the, I'm gonna call it like a news briefing from the NCSBN on the next gen nclex. I want to send it to you. Okay, so this is like the whole PDF that they put out. Like what is changing with the nclex. I want to send it to you. I have this here for you. So just DM me on Instagram and I can send you this PDF. Okay, cool. Or at nursing SOS on Instagram. All right, so the next one. So we have SATA partial credit. We have the drag and drop. So you are going to have more answers to drag and drop, which Matthew unfortunately pointed out that that's basically like a collection apply except they do not say you get personal credit. So Scott, that either puts you at a point for the current NCLEX or takes away the point from the next nclex.
Scott. Maybe less questions being that it's a longer case study. I don't know about that.
You should get more timing. Okay, so here's the thing too. Like the current NCLEX is still, to my knowledge, is it still still like decreased questions and decreased time, which, which they didn't decrease it either. Proportionally either. So the new one, I mean like with the whole, with the whole everything that we can't say on YouTube, you're scared of saying. I don't like saying it because I, you know, we don't want to get our videos, like whatever. So they decrease the time and they decrease the number of questions, which is incredible. They've never done that before. I don't know if that's gonna be the case. Yeah, still gonna be the case. I don't know.
I don't know.
We'll see. Does anybody know? Someone tell me, does anyone know?
Are you Posting the PDF on the nursing SOS website.
No, it's not ours to post. It's from the ncsbn. I just have it so I can DM it to you. It's a link to their site. It's a link to the NCLEX people's site.
Follow Christina on Instagram, Nursing SOS and then from there just DM her and she'll pop you over that link.
I will send you the link to this lovely PDF because it's great. Claus. Claus.
Claus. Clothes. Close with a Z.
Close. C, L, O, Z, E. How do you pronounce that, folks? It's a drop down. So basically the same thing. You have a patient's case in it, like case, scenario, question. And then you can click through their information. So assessment, you know, lab values, medications, patient history, all of that stuff. It's basically like clicking through their chart and then you get a question and it's a drop down. Which I would say maybe in Matthew's terms is like a basic like radio.
Button multiple choice question.
It's a multiple choice question because you can only choose one. So that's pretty easy. That's pretty straightforward. It's just a kind of a different format. So it's like, it's like a multiple choice question except it's just a drop down. Hi, Nehru. I'm so happy to see you, friend. I was actually just thinking about you. What? Last week when we were doing these lives, I'm like, man, I don't know where you are. Okay. Enhanced hotspot highlights.
So this is an interesting one. This I haven't really heard about in any other scenario. So this one's.
No, you haven't. Because don't you remember in grade school they would have you do reading comprehension test when the Internet was so new and they thought they were being fancy.
Sure.
Did you ever get that?
What? No. I don't know.
Oh, I think it was when I was in high school. Like you had to do the reading comprehension and you had to highlight the important parts.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
So that's what this is, right?
This is what it is. Okay. So it's like they give you a question. Okay, let me just read to you what it says. Enhanced hotspot items allow candidates to select their answer by highlighting the predefined words or phrases. Candidates can select and deselect the highlighted parts by clicking on the words or phrases. Oh, maybe that you click it. Maybe you click on it. These types of items allow an individual to read a portion of a client medical record. Like Medical history, lab values, medication record, and then select the words or phrases that answer the item. So it's like they're asking you a question about this patient's chart. So you have the patient's chart, that's the question. And then they ask you a question about the patient's chart and you have to just highlight in the patient's chart the place that answers the question. Does that make sense?
So again, it's kind of like critical thinking or getting you used to looking at patient charts that, okay, I need to answer this question. Let's look through this. What's the important information I need to look at and what's the stuff that I could ignore for this question? Kind of like that.
Yeah. What can I ignore? What is important?
Yes.
And actually, I think that answered a question that we had because we were wondering, okay, how sensitive is it going to be? Because you don't want to like, lose points for adding a period, right? Like highlighting. If you're actually highlighting, you don't want to, like, lose points. You see what I'm saying by asking.
Yeah, like, how sensitive is the highlighting? Like if you, if you highlight the last word of a sentence before, like the important part, whether they're like, oh, that's, that's good enough or not.
So I don't have any answer to that question. I've had that question for several weeks now. Still don't have an answer to it. But it does say candidates can select and deselect the highlighted parts by clicking on the words or phrases. So maybe you actually click. Okay, here's a question for those of you. Because we always have nurses on here on our lives. For those of you who have taken the NCLEX recently, has anyone here taken the NCLEX recently and then had the research questions, like the NGN questions at the end for the research?
Oh, yeah, that happens to raise your.
Hand if you have taken the NCLEX recently and have had this type of question. Because I want to ask somebody. I'm really curious how it was done. Was it done by clicking on a sentence or was it done by clicking on a word? Or like, did you actually have to highlight it and like drag your cursor over to highlight? Does that make sense? Hi, Bianca on TikTok Narut.
I passed my farm with an A and med surge one with a B. Big thank you to Christina.
Awesome. Good job. That is amazing. I am so, so proud of you. Congratulations. Okay, so anyone else? Thank you.
Ms. Kitty K. Would you say the new NCLEX is easier than current nclex. So going over the different changes, whether it is easier or not, I think at this point where I've come to it is it's really a, it's a personal opinion at this point.
It's kind of a trade off.
Yeah, yeah, there are trade offs and some people may like the old one, some people may like the new one. So.
Yeah, yeah, that's true.
Yeah. I think it really is up to you. I think in the grand scheme of things, they're trying to work at getting you better prepared for a real world. Yeah. So in that case, I think it's kind of a win with all these changes so far. But yeah, let us know how it is when you guys take it.
Yeah. Who on here has taken their NCLEX recently? We always have. We always have. Hey, Abby. Hi, Sasha. Okay, that was highlighting. Okay, now the next one is the matrix or the grid. Now this one's really interesting. This one I think is easier to understand if you have the PDF. So like I said, you guys, I have this PDF. This is cool from the ncsbn. This is like from the NCLEX people. So I can send it to you. It's just, you know, this is what we're going through. This is what they put out to show you what's changing on the nclex. So just DM me on Instagram, I will send it to you. I got your back. So this is matrix grid. Again you get a patient's chart. So you have a patient's chart to click through, like the tabs on their chart. Okay. Like medications they're taking, you know, patient history, lab values, all the stuff. And then what they do is they give you a grid. So I am going to actually give you the example if I can read it. Okay. So they have the patient's chart here to the side. And then they want you to select which nursing interventions would be appropriate. But you can select each nursing intervention as Is it something that's an anticipated intervention? Is it nonessential or is it contraindicated? As if you as like you wouldn't do it. So is it an anticipated nursing intervention? Is it non essential? Like it's not. Doesn't really do anything or is it contraindicated? So this one's really interesting. Talk about critical thinking. Okay. So you will need to think through, okay, what's going on with the patient's chart. And then is this, you know, is this an anticipated thing that I need to do? Like this is what I'm doing, Is it non essential? Like it doesn't really make a difference or is it contraindicated? Is it something that with this patient I absolutely should not do? So that's really fascinating.
Okay.
Talk about critical thinking. So actually it's kind of funny because like you said on Monday, the Nursing SOS Membership community, we train you to think this way. So inside our membership community, all of our videos, all of our lectures, they're all step by step, we teach you all of the nursing content that you have to know to pass your exams. But not only that, we really go, I mean really, we go the extra mile to basically critically think for you. Like we walk you through the critical thinking of everything. So we don't just give you a list of stuff to memorize, like the signs and symptoms or like this question, the nursing assessments that, or nursing interventions you would need to do. Like we don't give you a list of things to memorize because that is not helpful for you. But what we do do is tell you why, which is exactly what this question is asking you for. It's so interesting. So if you're a nursing SOS member, like Neeroot. Thank you. You did awesome. It's just going to help you so, so much because you have. You guys. Critical thinking was everything in nursing school and now it's even more everything in nursing school.
Like we said, it's moving towards that concept based learning. And again, at the end of the day, it's to help you be a better nurse.
So yes, absolutely. So I guess Shameless plug there. The Nursing Essence Membership community is opening for enrollment on Sunday. Don't miss it, my friends.
Go ahead and hop over to nursingschool success.com join to join the VIP list and you'll be the first to know when it opens.
You absolutely do not want to miss it. Okay.
Yep.
Because it is going to change the game for you. So excited. We have a lot of members on actually right now, especially on YouTube. Thank you guys for being here.
Rigoberto asks, if there's an increased percentage of failures with the new nclex, will they, will they change it?
No, I don't think so. They wouldn't. I really don't.
So maybe, maybe like the next ver. The next next gen. The N ngn the next. Next next Next Next gen. Maybe by then it will be like more of like a game and like you have to hit certain like rings or something.
Instead of like extra lives or something.
Yeah, instead, instead of having to select all that apply, you need to like catch all the. Catch all the butterflies.
Catch all the Pokemon that apply.
Catch all the Pokemon that apply.
That would be funny, actually. Rigoberto, don't let this freak you out. It's what happens every time. But this is. This is just what happens. Okay? Don't freak out about what I'm gonna say, okay? Just. Just don't freak out about it. It's normal. It happens every time. Every single time they change the nclex, the percentage of success does drop a little bit, but then it goes back up. Okay. It's just a transition. It just happened. That's just how it is. That's just. It's okay. It's gonna be okay.
Yeah, it's fine. It's fine. Just learn the material and again, learn the concepts and.
The last.
Get kind of more familiar with these item types that we've gone over and you'll be fine.
Get in the membership community because we teach you how to think this way and critically think. So, Scott, where at with the.
Was that all of them?
That was actually. I thought that there were more, but that was it. Okay, so we have matrix grid, which is the cool one. I just think that that's really cool. Like the critical thinking one, the highlighting. So it's two. The claw. Claws. Claws.
I don't know. That's weird.
Down something extended drag and drop. And then the extended. They call it extended multiple choice. It's just a fancy way of saying something elect. All that apply because they don't want to freak you out, but you do get partial credit. Okay. So kind of a fun thing, though is that like we said earlier, that those nursing students, like perhaps Scott, taking the nclex, now, the current nclex, you do get a research section at the end of your nclex, guys, are the guinea pigs. The guinea pigs. It does not count toward your score. Don't worry. It's just their research, you know, so you might get some of these questions. Kind of fun. I don't. I did not. If I remember right, I don't think I got any research questions at the end of my nclex. I could be totally wrong.
Let us know if you're taking it soon or if you did take it. If you got any of these research questions.
My brain.
I think the last time we did this on a live last season, we were talking to a couple people that they did get those research questions.
Yeah, they had just taken it and got it. Do you have a telegram channel? I don't know what that is.
No, we do not have telegram, but.
Become a member what that is?
Yeah, it's. It's like instant messaging.
Oh, I didn't know what that was.
Become a member. And we have our membership community and you can, you can message questions that way and get some tutoring help that way.
Yeah. Do you guys know the cool thing? When you're a nursing SS member, you get access to. To our nursing team.
What?
So you can actually get tutoring and get all your questions answered. Boom.
So those are the. Those are all the different questions over there. Like questions that are sticking around that like the old one has, or is that pretty much?
Yeah. Well, I mean.
Again, not a nurse did not take the nclex, so. No, you're just asking like essay questions. No essay questions.
Okay, that's.
That's a positive. Yeah, they didn't add it, so that's a positive.
They did not. See, look on the bright side, folks. They didn't add long form essay questions. Okay.
All right.
Yeah, no, you don't have to write out sentences. That would be quite the feat of AI though, to. Oh, yeah, have that scored. Karen, do you guys think ATI will help us prepare? Prepare more than uworld? Okay, here's the thing. Students always ask me about uworld and I always just defer back to you because I did not use uworld. Unfortunately, that was one of the ones I did not use. However, ati, my program used hesi, which is very similar to ati and yes, I mean ATI and hesi, that's what they do.
Let us know if you are in ATI or HESI or some something else.
What are you guys in?
What are you guys in, etc.
Etc. Does your school use ATI or HESI? Tell us in the chat. I want to see what the split is because it does tend to split up. Well, actually, a lot of students, I think more students use ATI than use Hussey. I don't know. I could be wrong.
We got an ati. Oh, hesi.
Kaplan.
What is Kaplan? Something else.
Kaplan's. Yeah, a different one, but it's not like. Like what? That's interesting because that's actually a new one that's been integrated into programs too. So I guess Kaplan too. Typically, though, it's Hussier. ATI. YouTube. Where are you at? Why is no one commenting on YouTube? Don't be quiet, friends. Don't be quiet. Instagram is beating you right now. ATI is. Pretty much everyone on. On Instagram is ati. Okay, how about you?
Tick tock. Are you in ATI or HESI or not? Not does nursing school yet you're in.
New York and use. You said ati. Wait, but I'm in the east Coast. Wait, where's your. Oh yeah, does it matter your location?
Is it location based?
I don't know. I don't think it's location based because I went to nursing school on the west coast and we used Hessy.
The best coast.
The best coast. That's funny. So I don't know. But definitely I think that ati, if you're in an ATI or a HUSI program, you are going to be prepared to take the nclex like we said. You guys, I know that there's a lot of rumors floating around out there about it. I know that there's a lot of stress and anxiety and worry about it. Yeah.
I say like, yeah, don't get too worked up about it. Just focus on concept based learning. Focus on kind of real world scenarios what you'll have to do as a nurse and that'll help help most. Alan, we use ATI. All right, cool. Natalie, what is the difference between LPN and RN NClexes?
You know, that's a really great question. I guess I always assumed that it was very, very similar because it's still the nclex. And I also know that K Canada now uses the nclex, which was new as of a couple of years ago.
But Australia does not, right?
No, not to. No. Well, Australia, from my knowledge.
Anyone from Australia? We usually have a couple people from Australia. Yeah.
Yeah. It's just school. Like there's no board exam.
That's fun.
LPN versus RN. Nclex. Anybody know? I don't know. Let's just do a quick Google search. There are two versions of the NCLEX that are called the nclex RN and the nclex. The NCLEX IRON is for registered nurses and the NCLEX PN is for licensed proclamation.
Thanks Google.
Thanks Google. That was extremely unhelpful to my knowledge. Like this, this PDF that I have for the nclex, like from the ncsbn, it does not differentiate between the two and the NCLEX is the nclex. So whether you're taking the RN or the pn, I think it's the same. You know, it's just the test is going to change no matter what program you're in. That's what I'm trying to say, Alan.
That's interesting. Yeah. So you use ATI but you have Kaplan exams within your courses.
Fascinating. That is like a double whammy, huh?
What Does ATI mean.
What does ATI mean? I don't even know what that means.
Alan, what does ATI mean?
Rigoberto Quick, That's. You guys. Answer this question. What does ati? Oh, what does ATI mean? Someone on Instagram asked it.
Yep.
Or HESI H E S I. I don't know.
You can probably. That. That's. That's a Google question. Google knows the answer to that. All right.
That is not the right answer. ATI Nursing. That's probably a better thing.
We can use Google. We use Google.
Oh, Assessment Technology Institute. Oh, okay, well, that makes sense.
The more you know, ATI stands for Assessment Techno. Assessment Technology Institute.
There you go.
There you go.
So welcome to the nursing school show, folks, where you ask questions and go see your Google stuff.
Anything else?
I don't know.
What else?
Like, has he. What now? I'm just curious. What does he see Nursing stand for? See Health Education Systems Incorporated. All right, all right. Well, those are business names, apparently. Test of Essential Academic Skills.
Oh, teas.
The TEAS Test. Nice. Thank you.
I guess we're doing acronyms now. You know what? While we're on this subject, I just crack up every time because it's called the NGN and it has an acronym of an acronym and I cannot get over it. It's a next generation nclex and NCLEX is an acronym. So the NGN is an acronym of an acronym and I can't even as. As they say.
Neerud. I studied uworld for my LV and NCLEX and pass on my first try. Now I'm reviewing uworld RN and some questions are exactly the same. Interesting. That is very good to know. Nirut. Hey y', all, listen up. Who is in an ATI program? I know you already raised your hands. I won't ask you again. You don't have to post if you don't want to. But here's a secret that they don't tell you. And I don't even know if I'm supposed to tell you, but I tell everybody, so not a big deal. Ati. When you do the practice tests, you want to do the practice test. Because those questions on the practice test often show up on your legitimate exams. Like the tested exams. Have you noticed this? I don't know if people are supposed to know that, but I hear it all the time from nursing students. My school did not use ati, but I've heard it time and time again from nursing students. When you take ATI practice tests, those questions will often show up on, on your actual exams. Okay. So don't skip the practice question. Like moral lose story. Don't skip them, do the practice test. Okay. Because you never know if it's gonna show up on your exam or. I've also heard from nursing students is that they kind of, they change a few things, but not a lot of it. So they'll like change a little bit of the wording around, but it's basically change the patient's name, change the patient's room number. Yeah. So definitely don't skip those practices. All right, friends, so DM me on Instagram for this PDF that I have. Don't forget.
Okay, let's switch gears just a little bit. Just, just real quickly prepping for your nclex and just, just how to prep for your nclex and how to get ready for your nclex, people that will be getting ready to take it at the end of the year.
Yes.
Or sooner or later. I guess that covers pretty much everything. But anyway, so you guys are going to be taking the nclex. How can you prep for your nc? It be the old one, the OG or the new one? I'd say that you prep the same way. And I'd say it's a lot of practice. Lots of practice questions. Again, especially with a new one. I'm sure that they're going to be updating practice banks and things like that. But just in general, practicing a lot of questions of the NCLEX will help you get kind of get in the mindset again of concept based learning of answering those kind of questions. Was it nclex questions? Because if the first time you're going to answer those kind of questions are in your nclex, that's probably not the best route to go.
No. You want to make sure that you are practicing the practice question throughout your nursing program. And that is for two reasons. You will understand the content better and also you get in the mindset of answering those types of questions. Like these types of questions, you guys. Okay. So you have to make sure that you are critically thinking and connecting the dots. Okay, so Rigoberto, on YouTube, you asked about flashcards, so we actually have our own flashcards. You can purchase these@nurseingsos.com forward slash shop. Now, the thing that you are going to absolutely fall in love with with our farm flashcards is the critical thinking points. Someone asked about pharmacology on Instagram. Hey, Michelle, it's just critical thinking is everything. As you guys know, it is not enough to memorize things, nor is it helpful for you to watch a video on YouTube where the nurse or person lecturer gives you or even sit in class for that matter and have your instructor just give you a list of things to memorize that is not helpful to for you. What you need is the critical thinking behind it. All right? So on our farm flashcards, we do not just give you a list of the side effects. We do not just give you a list of like the patient education or assessment or considerations that you need to know, but we also tell you why. All right, so we tell you why, we give you the critical thinking behind it, and we call out the key points that you absolutely will be tested on. So when you are practicing to take your nclex, you have to understand the why behind everything. It's not enough to just memorize things. You have to understand the critical thinking. You have to go that extra mile. So there's our farm flashcards. These are actually. This is just one deck of them. Actually. When you buy the farm flashcards, you get not only the class cards, but you also get the individual med cards. And it's a big stack.
It's down there. Move it.
I'll get it. Here they are.
So yeah, actually we, we actually break it up. So there are critical thinking, there are some memory tricks. Yep. So all of that are on the cards to help you out. Again, those are the farm flashcards. So on Instagram, someone was asking tips on pharmacology. So start. There is tip number one, Nursing us.
Or something like that shop. And inside the membership community as well. We have an entire medication database for you that walks you through step by step, all the meds that you have to know for nursing school. There's a lot of them, friends, there are a lot of medications that you need to know. And we walk you through all of them so you don't have to figure it all out yourself. We are here to do it for you. All right, so inside the membership community, not only do we tell you exactly how to study, we walk you through how to study. We help you develop a study plan, and then we also tell you what to study. Okay, so we walk you through everything step by step. What do you need to know to pass your exams? That's exactly what we do inside the nursing as well as membership community. Nehru, you said the farm flashcard saved my life. I'm so happy. Hooray.
Yay.
Yes. I'm so glad you guys love them. Yeah, they, our students love, love, love the flashcards. And they're super pretty. They are so Fun. So they're all color coded. They're exactly what you need to pass. There you go.
I saw it.
Ringo Birdo setting you up.
Do you have a discount code?
Discount code for our shop?
All right, guys, listen up. If you want a discount code, I guess I can give you a discount.
Code because Matthew's so nice and generous to you.
Say thank you, Matthew. Go ahead.
Thank you, Matthew.
Go ahead and type in nursing10 for discount code. 10 off everything in your cart so you can get both boxes. We also have a doscal box or whatever you put in your cart, whatever you do. 10 off everything in there.
So 10 off the shop.
And as always, free shipping. Etc, etc.
Yes, we always do free shipping because who likes to pay for shipping? We pay it for you.
It's not free. Someone pays for it.
We pay for it for you. So again, thanks, Matthew. So, nursing 10. Does it matter? The capitals? There's no capitals.
No, it doesn't matter.
Okay, yeah. Nursing 10. N u r s I n g 1, 0.
Very good. Thank you.
I feel happy.
So there you go.
You would think with, you know, small children that were spelling things out all day long that I would be a better speller, but, you know, I still struggle with like the word definitely. B A. Who. Who can spell the word definitely without autocorrect? Show me. Like, I can't defiantly do it every single time I get it wrong. And Google's like, nope, that's not how you spell it.
Also, shameless. Plug for new root again. Yeah. You're awesome. The farm card saved my life. So there you go.
There you go. Snow cake. That is a cool Instagram name. I really appreciate that. Thank you. Everyone saying thank you. You're welcome. Hi, Shelley. All right, friends. Definitely. Jonathan. That looks correct, but I am not the professional at spelling that word. So, you know, I try my best, but you can, I can assure you that any time that you see the word definitely on my Instagram stories or in an Instagram post or in a YouTube post or wherever that I probably have to spell it a couple of times in order to get it in there the right way. Little behind the scenes just how it is. Do you have pathos Study Materials 100. Yes. Thank you, Rigoberto. Nursing 10. Yes. That is your coupon code, friends. Nursing 10. 10 off the shop. Okay. Patho study materials. Yeah, Inside the nursing house membership community, we have all the patho videos there for you. And it is by far, like you guys, by far the best way to study patho because, like, I always Say we break it down. We break it down for you step by step. So with pathophysiology, it can be really tough to understand pathophysiology from a textbook when they're just kind of telling you kind of high level, kind of a medium level about what's happening and going on in the body. Not super helpful. But we break it down step by step. Like we tell you with patho, like, what's happening first, next, what happens after that, all the way down. So it's super, super important to know what's happening in the body so you know what the. What is the trigger. Like what causes an immune reaction and then what happens and then what happens and what complications happen. Like, step by step, we break it down for you. So that's inside the membership community. Yep. All the path of videos that you could ever desire in your heart, those are in there for you.
It's good stuff.
It is good.
It's good stuff. There's nothing more I can say about that.
It's awesome. How long will the code last, Matthew Kimmy on Instagram?
That's a good question.
Depends on how long Matthew keep it up there? I don't know.
That's a secret code for you live guys.
So secret code.
Keep it on the DL and it can stay up for a little longer. That's all I can say. But it'll probably. It probably won't last for. For much longer.
So that's funny.
There you go.
When is the enrollment again for nursing sos? So it's on Sunday, friends. Okay, so here's the thing. Enrollment only opens for the nursing SOS membership community a few times a year. Like, we keep it closed basically all year, except for a couple of times we open it. So make sure that you join, because every single time, every single time, the day after it closes, nursing students email us saying, I was on vacation, or I missed the emails, or this came up, or this came up. And we have to say, ugh, I'm sorry, you gotta wait till next time. Don't let that happen to you. Okay? Don't do that. Don't be that person. All right, Join when it opens on Sunday. Okay, cool. Okay.
All right, sounds good. Let's see. So again, we go live Mondays and Wednesdays. So since today is Wednesday, that means next time we're live is Monday. I think I'm doing that right.
I can't spell you. We're a good team here.
All right, we got it. It's the same time. Whatever time that is, I can't do time either.
6:30 Pacific, 9:30 Eastern. Because I can add three to 6:30.
Okay, so join us. Be sure to subscribe. Hit the bells, hit likes. Hit all the following stuff, because that does help all our things. So do that, please.
Instagram. Yeah. Oh, anytime on study or do you have a delay? So it opens on Sunday and then it will close on Friday afternoon?
Friday afternoon.
Okay. But just make sure to join on Sunday because then you have a week to get settled and chat with us. Get to know your nursing tutor.
Join us on the Live on that Monday and tell everyone else on the Live that you joined. Yeah, and we'll shout you out.
We're gonna do shout outs.
Definitely.
Fun Monday.
Yeah. Let's see. 20 topics for Monday. I'm not sure what topics we're gonna do on Monday, but we're definitely gonna do shout outs.
Oh, yeah. What topics do you want? Do you want to talk about pharmacology? You want to talk about does go. What do you want to talk about on Monday, friends?
Let us know. What are we talking about?
Yeah, Fancy things.
We will do that.
I'm kind of leaning toward farm.
Farm. We can talk farm. You guys want to talk farm? Farms.
Med search.
Homesteading.
Fundamental homesteading. Hey, no one knew. Okay? I did a poll on Instagram. It was like, we've gotten a lot of new followers lately. So I did like a. What do they call it? Two truths and a lie. But it ended up being like three truths and a lie because I can't do math. And. Yeah, a lot of people didn't know I had a pacemaker. That was the one everyone chose.
Okay. All right.
I have a pacemaker.
I knew that.
You guys didn't know that.
Why did you guys know that I knew that? Come on, guys.
The lie was that we are huge folks. Football fans.
That is.
And apparently we look like huge football fans because hardly anyone chose that one.
Huh?
Everyone thought we were big football fans. And we are. Absolutely.
Go, Red Sox.
What's that?
Baseball.
Baseball. See, we are not supposed to. He knows Red Sox. I know. Okay. Natalie says farm fundamentals. Fundamentals. Homesteading. Anyone on. We don't need to talk about chickens. Unless you want to. We can do that. Farm and physiological adaptation section on the nclex, please. That's very specific. But we can talk about farm and physiological acts. Adaptations. Sure. And how to study that. Fundamentals. Ooh, Instagram's all about fundamentals.
Oh, and your root peeds.
Yep. Peeds. Farm. Okay.
All right, let's go through this.
We will do Farm because that got the most votes. Let's do Farm on Monday, friends. So we will see you back here on Monday. Next week, 6:30 Pacific, 9:30 Eastern.
In truth, I just need a topic to put on our thumbnail. So Farm is going on the thumbnail, but bring all your other questions.
We'll answer those questions. We'll try to answer them.
All right, take care. We'll see you on Monday.
Bye.
Bye.
Bye, Instagram. Nope, that's not how you cancel the Live, Christine.
